All time low I think? Popular basic wired camera. I've been using one for a few years now, as a basic baby monitor and a fixed security camera.

      CMIIW but it's more usual to refer to these as Wi-Fi cameras (most of the Tapo range), while a handful have ethernet connections and those are the "wired" ones (they are more popular for use with Frigate/HA because the stream is more stable). The "battery" ones are those that don't need mains power.

        You are right, not sure what I was thinking! I also consider "wired" as ethernet rather than WiFi. :-) These aren't "wired" in those terms. Not sure why its stated on description.

      I bought 5 or 6 32 gb one a few years back when i got these camera.. there is loop recording option so you dont need a big sized one unless keeping the footage is a must.

    Same model I got 1+ year ago… 2 for $44. Been pretty happy with it. Works well with the Tapo Hub (H200)

        I ordered one yesterday from the previous Amazon posted deal so I haven't used it yet.

        But can store camera footage locally on the hub, has a chime so you can set up motion detection alerts.

      I had an E1 pro fail on me after 6 years and decided to replace it with a E1 zoom. This new model has animal and person tracking which has been impressive. There is also a baby crying feature/alert which I haven't tested but if it's as good as tracking, I would highly recommend.

      Works well for a cheap baby monitor at home definitely

      It does have one annoying flaw though - when you take it with you somewhere, it has to connect to a different WiFi network which takes about 5 minutes to set up everytime. And then the same thing again when you get home which gets pretty annoying.

      There is a workaround by permanently connecting it to your travel router, but you may as well just buy a real baby monitor at that point imo

      Also don't think this has a temperature readout which can be reassuring with a new bub

        I use the same SSID / password on my travel router as at home. Phones and laptops connect seamlessly to this - are you saying the camera won't work this way?

    How are these with Home Assistant? I'm reading mixed reports about whether Tapo still supports HA integration

      I don't know if anything has changed (I keep all mine offline at the router level), but they work great with HA - I have ~10 around the place, some as occupancy sensors, some for external security.

      They do onboard event processing and propegate it to HA via the integration. If you keep the cameras offline, but use their app you can configure zones, otherwise you'll have human & movement detection - I used the zone detection isolating the mailbox to get a general "check mail" alert via HA. The app will work locally with offline cameras to view and configure, although not via any VPN settings I've tested. Home assistant dashboards work fine via VPN since it's streaming the data locally to HA first. Fancier events either don't throw external events or I didn't figure them out - things like dog barking, pet detected, baby crying. I installed the lot, they worked great with home assistant on their own, so I parked frigate for a project in the future.

      They do only handle two data locations at once - eg, I currently have them on SD + home assistant, but at some point either need to swap them to HA + NAS or SD + NAS and figure out how to stream to HA from NAS. I suspect SD + NAS wouldn't work great for HA viewing, as the files seem to be created in blocks that aren't written to storage till the end of the current block.

      I have a dashboard with live feeds and buttons for the view point presets along with automations to trigger motion detection when I'm home/away.

    I was really confused for a bit thinking wired was Ethernet but looks like this one is just powered using a plug. That’s too bad I’m looking for another Ethernet tp-link camera, I’ve found the wireless ones seem to drop off my UniFi UDM Pro all the time but the one Ethernet one I’ve got seems fine.

    Reckon it comes with a power adaptor?

    When you view the purchase options it says “2K 3MP Camera Only” for $29

    Then another option “2MP” for $39

    In the item details it does state Power Adapter.

    FYI if this helps someone, it’s not usb powered but AC to 9v DC
