  • nbn 1000/100 $3.6/Day

    Showing $4.20 for me…

    • Did you click the random referral button below the post?

      • Why did you add your referral code to the link?

        • Hopefully I haven't? It should just link to the referral program page

      • Oh, so it’s introductory pricing for new signups.
        Got it

        • Not showing discount for me…

          • @jv: The referral may no longer be active? Not sure if you can report the link

I have confirmed it using mine on a private window

    • Same, is this pricing coming through for existing?

      • I've never been a customer of theirs…

    • You need to apply a referral code before it shows the discount pricing, or use the random referral link (Not deal link)

  • Why price this per day??? No other ISP lists prices per day which makes it hard to compare.

    • That’s what is unique about launtel - they bill by day.
If you are solely looking at cost, launtel isn’t the cheapest.

    • Because you can switch speeds on a daily basis or connect for just a few days rather than pay monthly.

    • Premium ISP with its own niche.

You also can get a static IP for a one off $100 deposit and they refund it if you ever leave.

      Super handy!

    • Once upon a time they'd spruik the benefit as being able to pause and unpause anytime for free. Since NBN charge them a $5.50 fee for reconnecting, they'll now charge you after your first unpause.

Also, people will say it's worth paying more for customer service. They had to have good customer service back in the day when their Mikrotik network was at capacity and dropped out repeatedly each day. That's no longer an issue and you can get connected just as quick with other ISPs.

Of course there are benefits, like switching to them for a few days to get the free NBN Hyperfast NTDs, or if you need a temporary service.

      • Damn, did they change this recently? I see they have a new website that looks like flashy garbage, and no prices are available until you provide a location. 👎

As others have noted, customer support has been great with Launtel on the few occasions I've needed it.

    • Exactly why launtel used to be great for this.

Per day pricing $0 pause or reconnect.

No I guess we can still disconnect and connect later.

      • $0 to pause. $5.50 each time you reconnect.

        https://www.launtel.net.au/news/upcoming-change-to-reconnect…

        • Typo Now became No.

Meant to say how they used to be so great back then because of this.

And now less great cause of that reconnection charges

          • @USER DC: Yeah the fee is nbn's fault.

            • @Twix: Yea I know that's why I will be moving away from NBN later this year very soon finally for 5g home internet

              • @USER DC: What 5G plan are you changing to?

              • @USER DC: I presume you're talking about NBN FTTN? No FTTP user would say that.

                • @crayner: I've got fttp and using some cheapo NBN 25 plan rn.

My household really doesn't need any higher speeds, have used Vodafone 5g in past, was perfectly fine in old old house.

  • What’s the rate per minute please. Paying per day seems stressful.

    • $0.0025 per minute for the 1000/100

      Hope that helps!

      • Billed in daily blocks.

        Hope this helps!

  • so what.. like over $90 for a month for the cheapest? bit pricey..
currently looking to switch from origin 500/50 (jacked up prices) - considering tangerine at around $64 introductory, 85ish after the first 4

    • Have you asked Origin if they do retention offers? i think this next month will be my last on cheap pricing and looking to move.

    • Amaysim is 60 for 500 irrc

      • 50, 60 for 750

      • those offers expired didnt they? only 1000/100 is available now

  • Does dodo currently have the best sign up for $62.99 for first 6 months for a 500 /50 plan?

    • 500/50 $56/m for 6 months @ Origin.

      • Thanx mate. Appreciate it just need to make sure cycle out in time lol

    • Amaysim $50 for 500/50 is cheapest currently

      • Can't see that anywhere. Where is it written

        • That amaysim deal has expired.

          • @Twix: Yeah just noticed that

        • It was actually an app only deal apparently, I clicked the $60 for 750/50 deal and it opened the app, every plan was $40 off not just 750/50 and 1000/100 - meaning $50 for 500/50. 25/5 was $29 from memory.

Optus wholesale network though which isn’t kind of trash routing I find.

          • @Dyl: so not available thanx

            • @schwifty: Yeah, deal isn’t marked expired so wasn’t sure

              70 for 1000/100 still available

    • Go through finder and get a $110 gift card too

  • So I can signup to 2000 and let the upgrade the NBN box and then cancel?

    • You can.

I personally just added a second service that took me over what the old box was capable of, so I got the new 4 port version

    • Yeah you can.

      1. Do you want the nbn FTTP 1-port or 4-port NTD?
      2. What nbn speed plan are you on?
      • Currently on 1000, 1 or 4 port doesn't really matter

        • You could go to 2000 or add any second service over 100

          That will trigger the upgrade.

First option will give you a new 1 port while the second option will give you a new 4 port - Both for free (Excluding plan cost)

          • @Brew43: new 4-port has max of 2200 down if i recall correctly, old box has 1300 down. just go high enough to get the new box

        • 2000/200 for the nbn FTTP 1-port NTD.

Keep 1000/100 with your current provider + 500/50 @ Launtel for the nbn FTTP 4-port NTD.

          • @Twix: If I keep the service active only for a week, but box change takes longer than that, would they still do it? any idea?

            • @Oh Boy: I would wait until nbn turns up. Ask Launtel online chat to check availability.

            • @Oh Boy: they only start "billing" once the box has been installed, so your trial starts the day the nbn box is active

              • @tahayp: Signed up this morning. Someone how their system was showing I can have upto 2.2gbps even though I have a V1NTD, so they are going to look into it. Now my service is active on UDN 2 lol

                • @Oh Boy: oh wow that's interesting. for me i signed up to 1000/100 with Launtel with existing 500/50 and that triggered the replacement.

                • @Oh Boy: It's possible to have the new nbn FTTP 4-port NTD installed inside the existing V1 wall mount bracket. Have you opened up the nbn cover?

                  • @Twix: It's an old one from 4 5 years ago. Rep confirmed it's V1

                    • @Oh Boy: Yeah that's definitely a V1. Hopefully they get it sorted soon.

                      • @Twix: All done. Box upgraded. Using 2 wan ports on my router and it's combining the speed pretty well

  • I have made a post on the forums to get the referral links updated to the new format - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139622

See the bottom of the post to see how to get the new format

  • Quite expensive

  • Launtel are more expensive monthly, but their customer support and general approach is miles above any competitor and worth it for me. I've had situations where our router has been disconnected (power cut etc.) and they proactively reached out to check in. Not sure any other ISP would do that.

    • The staff genuinely care about customers, right up to Damo (the owner).

    • Yea ngl they actually know the stuff as apposed to other providers who's tech support people know barely minimum things, and nothing about more complex stuff like upgrades, changing ports etc etc. and will give random conflicting informations. Launtel reps always said truth from my experience so far.

  • Perfect for doing exams.

  • Expensive

  • If we use 2000/100 HFC for example, you’re better off just going with Leaptel for 12 months at $155/m.

  • Yeah Nah, Ripping people off and then doing a discount on a rip off is a Woolworths game, You can't fool us

    • Bit different when you are actually getting a great service.

To try it out I just called their support line @ 8:05pm and was speaking to someone based here in Australia after 58 seconds. Even better only had to press 1 button to get there!

  • Where is the deal?? Nbn1000 is like $75/month for 6 month with superloop or tpg…much cheaper elsewhere

    • $75/month for 6 month with superloop

      $79

  • I'm paying $65 for superloop 500/50, how is this even cheap?! The same plan for 30 days would be $105. Absurd

    • 500/50 $81/m for 6 months @ Launtel but yeah it's not cheap.

      • I missed the $25 off for 6 months part. But still not a deal. I jump between ISP's every 4-6 months to follow 20-30$ off per month, this has been the best way for me for many years now. Have rarely paid over $70 for 100 or 500 down plans

        • While I have addresses this in a previous comment I thought I would give it a spin with Superloop.

I just spent 18minutes on hold to get on to tech support and that required 3 menu inputs, a verification code and my postcode; then ended up speaking to someone with a thick accent who then spoke to me for a further 3 minutes because they couldn't understand I was just calling to test out their phone response times, I shudder to think if I had an actual problem! Not to mention the hold music is crazy loud compared to the voice

Launtel may provide the same "product" but you are paying extra for the support - It took less than a minute to get a hold of someone based right here in Australia

This may not be of "value" to you.

I encourage you to check out the rules regarding voting for Ozbargain - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

          • @Brew43: Yeah, sorry but I'll pass. I'll take value, I'm paying for the same speed as any other provider who marks the pricing up. I stick with a handful of companies who have reliable NBN services with minimal drop outs. Never had to contact the ISP's regarding issues, as generally the issues have been on my end inr regards to an old router etc. but thanks for the info. In this current market, cutting my cost by around 15-20 a month on internet is a huge saving, and I do this for my byo mobile plans also. Tried multiples and stick with a few that are reliable, but still of 'value. I down vote as you advertise the plan to be cheap on a daily rate, rather than just staying their monthly cost like every other ISP, or customer posting a 'bargain'. Not an Oz 'bargain' to me

            • @Discoaus: Each to their own, but just pointing out this is literally the highest quality provider available, hence higher prices

It’s Aussie Broadband, Vocus and Optus btw*

They’re still on par with Aussie Broadband pricing essentially but you have access to Vocus and Optus too where more optimal.

          • @Brew43: I'll have you know, the first statement in the down vote category states "The deal is not the cheapest available". So I stand corrected with my downvote, and also show you to read the guidelines regarding voting

            • @Discoaus: Thats like giving a neg to a Telstra deal because you can get a better deal with Vodafone

They are not the same product/service

              • @Brew43: Correct, they are most definitely not the same. So I'll agree with you on that. But I still stand it's not a good deal. But I also would never go with Telstra directly, I'd take a company that runs off a Telstra network any day of the week.

You can't compare these the same, the NBN services is the same whoever you go with. It's just your customer support statement that can be better with others. But I prefer value over having customer support, cause I don't have to contact customer support for my NBN

                • @Discoaus: They use 3x multihomed wholesalers, ie you’re routed on the best possible network (Vocus, Optus or Aussie Broadband) with the best connection to your particular PoI.

No other reseller does this and I don’t believe even Telstra’s wholesale network matches it; they’re by far the highest quality networking. (Some use multiple wholesalers, but not homed - ie they may use one provider from some PoIs, another for others)

Real world results, I get 6ms to Melbourne on Launtel, 9ms on Optus. To Europe I get 220ms via a GSL VPN (PureVPN Perth), 248ms via exitlag on Optus is best I can get.

Their network engineer must be pretty good because their BGP routes across the 3 networks are well optimised I find.

Basically you get the quality of Aussie Broadband (considered the gold standard) AND access to Vocus and Optus routing on top - it’s by far the highest tier provider available, but priced accordingly. Compare it to Aussie Broadband pricing and I’d consider this a valid deal imo.

You’re negging a flagship Samsung S26 deal because an A23 is cheaper, or at best an S26+ deal because the S26 is cheaper and suffices in your opinion. They’re different products.

If it was the same wholesaler I wouldn’t make this argument, but given it’s multihomed wholesalers and one is considered the gold standard, there’s an argument to be made it’s a different product.

              • @Brew43: The ozbargain way is to get a bargain. It's in the name

                • @Discoaus: Careful you'll get one of their employees come out and attack you, like they did with me.

                  • @Clear: Ha! Really? These comments being fired sound as if they are the employees. No one's looking for a bargain in the post, just purely for 'customer service' and the time it takes for them to answer

                    • @Discoaus: Back in the day they used to give out free internet to local companies in exchange for spreading the good word.

  • I've had consistently good experience with Launtel.

    An anecdote:
After I connected, they asked me how my connection was.

    My response:
    - their IPv6 traffic to Europe was going via Singapore while their IPv4 traffic was going via the US, taking 20ms more.

They passed this on to their routing team and fixed it.

  • Cannot fault these guys for tech support, whether dealing with NBN, new installation issues, fixed wireless issues.

    Worth it.

And the customer account portal provides far more technical insight than other RSP's, including the AussieBB portal.

  • LAUNTEL Is a generic ref code if none work, it appears the referer may need to be an active subscriber or something - many don’t work.

For the credit you must accumulate $100 in spending and be a user for 30 days (I don’t believe connected for 30 days). BOTH parties must be on active plans, so best to use the generic code (I assume it would be counted as active automatically).

    https://www.launtel.net.au/referral-discount-program

    When credits are applied
Referral credits are added once your friend:

    1. Completes the free trial
    2. Accumulates at least $100 in daily charges
    3. Has been active for at least 30 day

    Eligibility
    To keep things fair:

    1. Referrals must be new customers
    2. Both accounts must be on current plans
    3. Referral codes must be applied within 24 hours of signup

This helps ensure rewards go to genuine, long-term customers.

Referral system link did show correct pricing for me when I found a working ref code; new URL not necessary.

  • Note Launtel is the only reseller that uses wholesaler homing, meaning they route between 3 active wholesalers optimally and use the optimal transit to each PoI.

My ping to Melbourne is 6ms on Launtel, 9-11ms on Optus and Superloop. Optus kept jumping to 30ms at times, had to log tickets twice - they never explained why but it appears their redundant PoI link is horrible.

Launtel also have well optimised BGP, as they have access to multiple wholesalers to optimally route to the ASN you’re connecting to - means lower ping times, especially internationally. Likely even beats Telstra, given the amount of subsea cables the three providers combined have access to compared to Telstra global.

This also means they have redundancy and extra bandwidth, with smart routing you should see higher peak time speeds. This isn’t comparable to random crappy resellers with one wholesale provider that likely prioritises their own traffic at peak times.
