I believe this is now $10 cheaper than the last time this was posted here. Note that this includes the sync module 2, which allows local storage. Looks to be a very good deal with the three items.

      Sync module has an USB port, you can attach a USB flash drive to it to do the recording. However, you get 30 days free trial and during that time, the recordings are stored on the cloud.

      Doorbell, lithium batteries are recommended (4 included (2 for doorbell, 2 for Outdoor 4 cam). If you use other batteries, you will need to change batteries a lot more often.

      Outdoor 4, the main issue I have with it uses too much battery power. With my usage, it is monitoring the front of the house. Problem is, family members and delivery people events each day is easily over 10. I pretty much have to change batteries every month. I am thinking about switching to powerbank (there is an USB-C port). It is best not to use Outdoor 4 at the front of the house (too much foot traffic).

      This kit doesn't include Blink Mini 2 (which can act as a doorbell chime) so you will be relying on your mobile phone notifications.

            @yoquierotaco: It's complicated. Let's assume you are thinking about using it without subscription (after the 30 day free trial ends). Realistically, the doorbell will essentially be more like a traditional doorbell in which you need the person to stay near the doorbell long enough for you to respond to the notification and switch on the live view.

            I only use mine as a secondary surveillance setup and mostly for indoor (I don't use the Blink doorbell, only cameras). I also turn off all notifications and use mostly just live view (mostly Blink Mini 2 cams (cheaper), connect to a power source, also act as sensor lights).

            This particular kit, you are looking at batteries operated, wireless setup. Without cloud subscription, you lose smart detections, cloud storage (which is faster because the Blink app doesn't have a local LAN / wirelss LAN mode, so it always go through cloud even if the footage is stored locally).

            If you are after a secondary setup to complement your primary setup (let's face it, fully wired setup is expensive) so some less important areas with dirt cheap cameras where you don't give a damn about notifications - because your primary cams would have already notified you is acceptable.

            @yoquierotaco: A simpler version is basically, for most OZBers, TP-Link devices cost slightly more, but doesn't tight you to subscription and the micro SD card storage is simpler. You don't need to worry about a sync module.

    Dont waste money, worst camera ecosystem ever invested in. Batteries last a good time which is great but if you ever want to watch live, probably 3-5 business days wait, server is always BUSY!

      I've been using the doorbell for the past 3 days, and honestly it hasn't been that bad. Most of the time, the live view loads in about 5 seconds. I'm on a 1000/50 NBN plan, so that might help a bit with the performance.

        I am on a 1000 plan, base it 2m away from the cameras no obstruction. Works ok during the day but I'm the evening it's pretty average.

          I just found out mine is the Video Doorbell Gen 2 with the Sync Module Core, so performance should be better than the Gen 1. So far I’m pretty happy with it. I’ve got a 2 month trial, but after that I won’t be continuing the subscription. I only really need live view and phone/Echo notifications anyway.

      There are other issues with this kit, but given that sync module 2 is included, it does support local storage without subscription. It's the other issues which are more annoying (to me) than subscription (which frankly, I reckon most OZBers getting this won't continue after the free trial).

    I am happy with this. Live view takes about 5 to 10 seconds for me. Plus, you don't need to subscribe it still sends notifications and saves recordings just connect a USB drive.

      I wouldn't touch anything from Blink, Swann or Ring. Buy into an ecosystem that's designed for local storage first. Reolink, Eufy, TP-Link are all better choices that cost a little extra upfront but are more robust and user-focused, and will give a better result overall.

    I bought the outdoor cameras and doorbell combo a while back. The doorbell is literally still sitting in its box because the cameras perform so terribly I didn't even bother installing it lol. It does its job okay if you're on the 30 day free subscription, but there’s a significant lag between an actual event happening and the footage finally uploading to the cloud.
    I recently got pi zero 2W and messed around with some github scripts to view them on a browser (using tailscale/cloudflared for remote access) but honestly the overall experience is pretty meh. It’s a pretty hopeless system. I only use mine now for low stakes stuff like checking the letterbox and parcel box or seeing if my dog is messing around near the aircon unit. Buy it only if you want a cheap hobbyist toy to play with.
