  if you have the budget, OLED is always better for sure… If you're wanting to play games or watching movies all day, OLED is always so much more nicer. To me personally, the tell tale is when you're in a darker/low-light room - e.g. watching a movie, non OLED screens usually have some form of light emission even from the black areas, you'll notice this in older iPads too.
  
  The bigger concern for me is screen tearing, I want this monitor for work but occasionally for games and I think there'll be some screen tearing since it's VA

Mine just died after 4 years. The backlight works, but the screen is completely black. This is literally the first monitor out of the 20+ I’ve owned to ever break on me. My old Dell and HP monitors have been going strong for over 10 years!

  It could be the image processing circuitry is completely borked and so it can't output to the screen. Means a completely black screen.
  
  It's a good time to replace the monitor then given the price. It's amazing that you can currently buy a 34" Ultra Wide WQHD gaming monitor for under $400. Amazing!. Good luck with a new monitor if you get it.

    I asked ChatGPT and it said the logic board inside is probably fried, because even the monitor's build-in menu won't show up. I actually ended up buying that 49-inch Samsung one for $999 a while ago. It's absolute massive, but I love it!
    
    But I gotta say, the cable management design on the back of this Xiaomi is actually really nice.

    Yes but also not entirely relevant.
    
    My current ultrawide does support different aspect ratios, just not 16:9. For example it supports 4:3 so I could plug something retro in and have it display correctly, I just have no desire to do that.
    
    So while yes the consoles only support 16:9, there are ultrawides out there that can accept that ratio and display it correctly, I'm just curious if this is one.

    Now looking for a bigger monitor.
    
    I found the Dell monitor with USB-C Hub much more reliable than the external USB-C /Thunderbolt dock which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

      We use both docks and dock monitors at work.
      If you get a dock monitor, it's literally replacing the functions of a $300+ dock, it's never going to be about the same price or they're cannibilising the money you would have otherwise spent.
      Of course there are some very basic usb hubs that really just extend 1 port into 4, but for actual display functionality, fast charging, thunderbolts etc, it's really a separate product category.

    this is interesting, the msi is 10 dollars more, but is it the better monitor? im sick of my 2x 28 inch 4k Samsung monitors from 2017 its like hard to see both so i have to bring them forward on the arms, and both cant be visible coz its too wide so i have to set one on an angle and half of it is behind the other one so i have to resize the window, its like deleting half of the second monitor..

        @Roe Jogan: It depends on your use case, hardware, aesthetic, budget etc.
        
        You might prefer odd or even screen number, symmetry or unbalanced, higher ppi or higher distance to screen, 21/16/12 :9 ratio - for how you work, game, consume, orient windows etc. - and sufficient hardware to drive screen count, resolution and refresh rate. Only you can know what would be an upgrade or not.
        
        I personally would go +1 28 4k for your setup, instead of replacing your dual with one 34" 1440p so it is symmetric/bezel not centered, high ppi and a lot more screen area and pixels (assuming similar/better price for 28" 4k vs 34" UW). It might be limited options though with non-standard 28" vs normal 27", and 4k vs more-common 1440p at 27"/28". If you primarily game I would do ultrawide (another setup I have 34" ultrawide 160hz for games) and you might need to consider how long your specific 9 year old monitor will last (I still have 20 year old 24" kicking so might be non-issue).
        
        I went from dual FHD 24" -> triple 24", which was good, and I currently run 2x 32" 4K 75hz VA side monitors and 1x 32" 4k 240hz OLED center - I see 32" 4k as the sweet ppi spot but one ultrawide with comparable specs would be very pricy - I like one center 16:9 for gaming 240hz 4k (7900xtx would struggle above that), and I tile windows into half/quadrants of screens for work (though utilities can do the same for ultrawides).
        
        It's a balance of price and use case - OP screen is not competitive in any regard. $600 RRP is 27" 1440p 280hz OLED territory (https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/alienware-27-280hz-qd-oled-g…) not 'value' for 34" 1400p 160hz VA - ~$350 is standard price for those specs.

  IPS is terrible as screens get bigger. Good for your traditional 24inch screens but as youre approaching tv sizes its a different matter. IPS in the tv world is rubbish technology. IPS bleed when viewing at night along with trash contrast.

  I think it's the sweet spot for gamers, the fairly high refresh rates look buttery smooth with a semi-decent graphics card and I personally like the resolution for WFH.

Got LG 34U650A-B from CenterCom for $519.

It's not the same price range but it has both IPS and USB-C dock. I reckon that's worth and extra $170, for the dock replacement alone to have a clean setup.

    I don't get the negativity to VA. Honestly I have four, 2x24, 1x32 central and 1x34 above. Most curved panels are VA, and there's nothing wrong with them at all if you're sat dead in front of them as I am. I bought an LG IPS 32" on sale, as usual IPS is not curved, could not live with it. After working on 1500R curves for years a "flat" panel is horrible to look at. IPS has a place, most good VA's are fine, really.

Does this monitor have a VESA compatible mount at the back?

I have a stand from a Dell monitor with VESA mount that'll overcome the tilt only limitation of this monitor if it can be attached to it.
