  • So 20k Points if no Points from any Velocity Points-earning credit card in last 12 months. 10k otherwise?

  • Damn used to be 20k points regardless. Still better than Qantas though.

    • Use to be 30k points regardless.

Yeah, i am inclined to keep my Amex Velocity till next year and get my remaining 30k points for spending $1.

      • Ah true, used to be up to 30k points for certain cards. Shame, churning is dying.

        • Yeah, I just got 30k points on the Amex Velocity Platinum from the deal a few months back.

Before then, it use to be a straight 30k points regardless of the card. Got it twice with the Virgin Flyer credit card.

And yeah, they've absolutely structured this deal to deter churning… if you churn, you only get an extremely measly 10k points. If you've taken a pause in churning and haven't earnt points from a velocity earning credit card in the past 12 months, you get a moderately measly 20k points.

Kinda messes up my strategy of holding a credit card for 11 months to make use of the annual fee I've paid and only signing up to a card when there's one of these bonus velocity points promos for 30k points.

  • Average deal, considering I can get 30k bonus through QBE for $90

    • Can you elaborate?

Take out a home contents policy and cancel it after receiving the 30k VFF (3 months after)

My premium is $31 a month, over 3 months to get the bonus = $93

        • just purchased it. Just wondering, will they give 30K points as soon as 3 months finished because if we keep the cover until 30K received (say a week later) that means another month will be charged by then. Do you know how this works? Thanks

  • I already have a velocity frequent flyer card. Am I eligible?

  • Is (b) a clause we've seen before?

    • I haven't seen it before. I usually jump on these deals once every 8-12 months and I usually don't go without a velocity points earning credit card for more than 6 months so I'm inclined to believe it's new.

  • I signed up for a velocity black card yesterday - but I think I got $0 for the first year… Looks like it's $295 to sign up for this deal.
I reckon it might be better to save the money upfront then get the extra points in year 2..

  • Bummer, just got a Velocity card from Westpac

    • Just activate the offer in 2 days and you might still be eligible if done so before westpac registers the first lot of points to your velocity account

  • Wondering if this offer has been pulled

The page doesn't seem to exist and I can't find it anywhere on their app or site

    • Wondering the same.

  • Came here to activate but 404 error

  • Did anyone activate it? Was this even obtainable deal?

  • Page is now live and I have activated the promo with my velocity

  • Created this for my own amusement, feel free to assess what works for you.

Name Sign up bonus Annual Fee Min Spend Min Credit Limit Payment in Earn Rate Bonus

    ANZ Platinum 60 149 3.5k 6k 44 days 0.5 $50 cash back
    NAB Signature 60 35/m (waived with 5k/m spend) 5k 15k 44 days 0.75
    • Cheers for this.

Hopefully ANZ Platinum remains like this in a year's time when I'm ready for my next churn.

    • Thanks! MyCard Prestige and NAB cards are not listed as eligible card for this promo. From T$Cs:

      Eligible Card means:

      American Express Velocity Platinum Card
American Express Velocity Escape Plus Card
Westpac Altitude Velocity Black Credit Card
Westpac Altitude Velocity Platinum Credit Card
      NAB Rewards Platinum Card
      NAB Rewards Signature Card
      ANZ Rewards Platinum Card
      MyCard Premier Card
      MyCard Rewards Card

IMO MyCard Premier is the best value at the moment. For $300 one can earn at least 146k points (110k base + 20% transfer promo + 10k this promo + min 4k to meet minimum spend).

      • sorry whats the 20% transfer promo , can you please elaborate ?
Also the spend required is 8k and not 4k

        • This is the transfer promotion: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/957507 . When you receive 220000 MyCard points, turn off auto transfer and wait for 20% extra promo from Velocity (look up the comments for details).

What I meant is minimum 4000 VFF points you'll receive to meet minimum $8000 spend. You get 0.5 Velocity point per $1 spent on standard purchases and 1 point per $ for online purchases. Theoretically, you can earn 8000 VFF points by meeting minimum spend.

  • I don't know if they've updated since the original post, but it says at the top of the page and in the FAQs "To be eligible for extra bonus Points, you must activate the offer and click through to your selected Velocity partner card via this page."

What doesn't make sense is that in the terms and conditions it says: (d) apply for a participating Velocity Points earning card, during the Promotion Period

so which is it? I'd have to default to the T&Cs version, for starters the mycard prestige isn't even listed on the webpage they say you must apply from.

I was planning on activating the deal then applying for the westpac card via this page for the annual fee waiver https://www.westpac.com.au/personal-banking/credit-cards/bra…

    • I'd go direct and save $295 on the AF, then worry about 20k points later.

    • It makes sense to me, those terms don't contradict each other? MyCard Prestige is not an eligible card for this promo so therefore won't be on the page. If you use the westpac link, you won't be eligible for the bonus velocity points.

      • Mycard premier is listed

        • MyCard Premier is listed. MyCard Prestige is not.

      • It is. Scroll down in the FAQ- "Who are the participating partners?" MyCard Prestige is listed there, as is the premier.

As for the contradiction, one says you must apply via the link on that site, the other does not.

        • I knew I’d seen it somewhere!
Got a screenshot, wish me luck when they don’t pay out on the Prestige

    • This is a fantastic deal thanks for sharing I don't know how this deal doesn't have more attention

      • Because it's a regular deal that's getting worse and worse each year.

    • We got the bonus 10000 velocity points using that westpac first year free sign up

  • do note for Mycard -
For Eligible Credit Cards issued by NAB or MyCard the extra bonus Velocity Points will be allocated to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account by 31 December 2026.

  • Looks like NAB has killed MyCard Prestige. No longer accepting new applications.

    • LOL. I guess it's to prestige for NAB's brand.

  • Velocity 20% auto-transfer bonus — anyone else have it silently fail this cycle?

Opted in to MyCard auto-redemption on 1 June , confirmed timing with their team, waited. The transfer never processed — rewards team admitted their system dropped it and didn’t know why. Second cycle it’s failed. Points now convert 15 July, so I miss the 20% bonus (needed to land before 30 June).

They offered $20 → $50 → $110 → “max $150” (valuing Velocity points at 0.5c), then said I’m not even eligible, quoting a T&C clause about Velocity sign-up bonus points — except mine were MyCard points, so I reckon it’s misapplied. Pushing back in writing.

Anyone else hit the same failure, or argued this exclusion successfully?

  • Is there any guide which banks has 24th month exclusion va 12month or 18th ?
I had westpac nab and ANZ , MyCard and velocity in last 24months

    • Read the T&C

  • Would I be eligible if apply the card at 31st and approve in Aug?

    • No, must be approved by 31st July.

    • You'll be fine. I did it last time - applied in the last day and was approved 3 weeks later - got bonus points from Velocity.

      • How many days does it take to receive this bonus Velocity points?

        • Last time I got it on the same day as bonus points from a bank.

  • Do I need to meet the minimum spend before 31 July or just need to get card approved before the date?

    • Only approval needed by 31st July not spending

  • How long after closing a NAB card would it be safe to apply for this card?

    • this card

This deal is not for a specific card. It will need to depend on what the last NAB card was and what card you want to apply to. Look at the T&C to see the cooldown period.

  • I have MyCard Premier. I feel like I turned on auto redemption, but points got credited as MyCard points and haven't transferred.
Think I can apply for a new card, get the 20k bonus, then sweep the MyCard points? As the MyCard points haven't transferred, my Velocity account technically hasn't had cc related points come in for over 12 months.

    • Also … think I can transfer my MyCard points to Flybuys at a 1:1 rate so I can cancel the MyCard card.
then transfer from Flybuys to Velocity at the same 2:1 rate. This removes any risk of autosweep activating and ruining my plan - and also frees up credit limit for applying for the next card.

Similarly - you could also transfer to Velocity and use this deal to get an extra 5% or 15% Velocity.

  • Thanks OPP just got approved for nab rewards platinum card

  • Got my 20,000 bonus points in addition to my 60,000 on ANZ Rewards Platinum card yesterday. Thanks!
