PlayStation VR2 $488 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

690

Not all time low, but cheapest I can find atm.
I just purchased last Saturday before this sale and JBHIFI price guaranteed and refunded me the difference :)
I’m using this on my PC with the Sony PC adapter, it’s working ok with my 3080RTX.
At this price range it’s worth tasting VR, but be ware of the motion sickness when doing barrel rolls in aircar. Also you need some floor space when using.
Please be kind as I don’t post often. Hope this is useful to some of you.

  • This has got a pretty good reputation for entry level PCVR.

    • how it compares to the Meta Quest 3s?

      • I don't own either, but from what I know….It has OLED screens so it wins there. By a big way.

        Resolution is also higher.

It isn't wireless so has to be plugged into PC with an additional adaptor.

So for PCVR simming it's much better. But if you have to get up and dance you are wired.

    • Just paid $474 delivered (Everyday Market) using code GET20 (+ waiting on TCB tracking).

Edit: tracked successfully, bringing final price to $352.75 delivered.

      • How'd you get so much cashback? It's only 5%

        • It was 25 or 28% until 3PM on Friday.
Not sure when it had started, but was able to get it abour 1h before it ended.

          • @l o l: Oh that's annoying! I'd have grabbed it at that price too.

$483 here from Kmart marketplace but The Gamesmen

    • $13.96 delivery

  • Its a great unit. I returned the Quest 3 and got this unit instead. Make sure you download the psvr2toolkit if you get it for PC gaming. It unlocks eye tracking which really is the equivalent of getting a new gpu.

    • Great share I need to do that.

    • Can u do it without the official pc connector thingo? Or just plug it into a pc? I use it on my ps5

    • Genuine question but why chose inferior lenses and a wired headset over the Q3?

      • Do you like Zuckerberg watching you?

        • Lol have you seen the boss of Sony!

        • because Americanised Sony wont do that?

          • @Freestyle: All of Sony is a garbage company. Sony music, Sony pictures all of them are horrid, greedy and anti consumer

      • Aside from the aforementioned eye tracking and concerns of privacy;
A sufficient router for bearable wireless PCVR with the Quest 3 can be expensive and even then it'll have compression artifacts.
It seems you have to buy an extra accessory to make the Quest 3 comfortable for extended use.
OLED, so better colours and contrast.
        PSVR2 Triggers and Haptics.
PS5 "support" (Especially if you already are subscribed to PS Plus and even more so if you have been collecting the PSVR2 games on the highest tier of PS Plus).
I don't have a horse in this race, they both have their pros and cons.

        • Ok gair enough, a flint 2 router $130 worth works fine for me, not sure eye tracking would be enough to convince me to go back to a cable, i was forever conscious of it and worried I'd rip it out of the PC.

          • @Spendmore: Just depends what you play, detailed games like Skyrim VR or racing Sims still suffer from compression artifacts even with high bitrates

            • @Fernan: Nothing breaks immersion like snagging a cable, I'd take a few artifacts over that for sure. I wonder why they havent released a wireless adaptor.

  • Any good game we can play with this with children?

    • I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it. I’m trying to get Minecraft to work in PCVR mode. I think that would be awesome and also kids friendly. The add on is called Vivecraft as I guess it was originally designed for the Vive headset. Mind you I’m doing this on PC not PlayStation.

      • they took away minecraft VR for bedrock. sometime in october 2025. i tried vivecraft as well and it just wasnt as nice. try roblox in VR, its quite fun. PSVR2 excels at sims like MSFS, DCS and GT7

        • I'm lucky I have the Java edition as well as bedrock. I just got it working but it's pretty rough going. I think I need to spend more time tweaking it to work well, it's lagging bad which ruins the experience, but it's true 3D VR mode. You need to download older MC version to be matching the Vivecraft version that's supported. The good news is that it does work, it's not locked out :)

    • Well actually no, because it's supposed to screw with spatial awareness, which can have a long term impact before brains have finished developing.

For adult it isn't so bad, it mucks with your driving etc for maybe half an hour.

      • My initial thoughts - It can mess with your eyes/mind initially, and you should only use it for short periods. I definitely don't recommend to any one under 16.

        • There is no evidence it causes damage to kids though.

          • @Spendmore: Maybe there’s no evidence, I’m not drawing a scientific conclusion. Just be cautious with kids health. Note it does have a health warning in the manual. I’m not trying to turn anyone off the product just be aware. I’m not returning mine if that’s any indication.

          • @Spendmore:

There is no evidence it causes damage to kids though.

no evidence with smoking either when it first came out

also there seems to be higher incidence of young children need glasses then other generations prior tablet/phones being mainstream..

so it better to be safe then sorry if you concern about kids health

            • @pinkybrain: They never tested smoking for health issues when it came out, they have for kids using vr so the analogy isn't accurate.
Its also an unfounded wives tale, there has been no testing showing that tablet use ruins kids eyes either, this is just your assumption.

              • @Spendmore:

they have for kids using vr so the analogy isn't accurate

Don't know what health issue you are defining as
but I am saying it increases the risk of the eyes getting myopia at a much younger age..
this is is pretty logical when the screen is so close to the eyes

                https://www.google.com/search?q=kids+vr+eye+damage&ie=UTF-8

Its also an unfounded wives tale, there has been no testing showing that tablet use ruins kids eyes either, this is just your assumption.

not old wives tales… or assumptions
know/heard many young kids in related families/friends getting eye glasses nowadays before they are even 10 years old..

it is just logical when you are using a phone or tablet you are less likely to blink and change your depth of focus (which cause eye strain, tiredness)
it also affects your vision when reading text on the phone/tablet for a long time… and increase your risk of developing myopia earlier than natural aging process.

                • @pinkybrain: Eyebsyrain is not permanent damage.
Kids use tablets in primary school, do you thinkntheybwould allow thisnif it was an issue?
There can be manybreasons someone gets glasses as a kid and often its genetics.

Anyway this is from the link you gave

VR does not cause permanent damage to eye development or health

                  • @Spendmore:

                    Eyebsyrain is not permanent damage.

                    never said
                    eyestrain = permanent damage

said increases risk of myopia which is a form of "permanent" damage of the eyes since now you need glasses to fix the focus of the eyes

Anyway this is from thenlink you gave

did you even read entire thing

"Pediatric eye doctors and researchers note that prolonged close-up screen viewing, including VR, is linked to an increased risk of developing or worsening nearsightedness. The lack of outdoor activities and natural light exposure further exacerbates this issue, as daylight is known to have a protective effect on developing eyes."

Also there is recommendations of minimum age of 13 yrs by meta etc

you can argue all you want about what is permanent damage or tests done (which we don't know what amd how many hours tested, how long was the test conducted and what ages tested)

but as I gave the link it is clearly said the risk of myopia increase with VR usage and is also pretty logical even without that link

anyway you can keep arguing with yourself if you want

                    • @pinkybrain: As you like gemini responses here is one to the question does VR cause myopia

No, it is not scientifically proven that virtual reality (VR) directly causes or permanently worsens myopia (nearsightedness) in children
I have no need to argue, everything I said is proven and correct.

        • I use these with GT7 which is an amazingly good VR experience. I went from playing the game in 2D to flinching when I was about to wrap my car into a wall as initially my brain was struggling to separate it from reality.

Whether you get sick or not is pretty individual about half the people have tried mine couldn't last more than 1 lap before getting woozy, the other half myself included basically no impact at all.

          • @4foxache: do you play lots of FPS without getting sick stomach feeling?

  • "Please be kind as I don’t post often."

    That's a new one.

    Lovely post mate.

    • Just out of curiosity are people nicer when you post this or do the cnty kind of bar up, smell fresh blood and go even harder?

      • depends on the deal
but the comment might make ppl less harsh if the deal is shit

  • Obviously going to get downvoted but for me it was a little heavy & bulky. It's amazing for something like GT7 but I couldn't do long races without sweaty my ass off (yes even in Winter).

  • On PC is it good for VR Videos (If you know what I mean)?

    • On PC is it good for VR Videos (If you know what I mean)?

what you gonna do about all the wires?

  • Huh - I'm standing at Dapto train station after having just paid $200 cash for a secondhand one.

    • Spend some more for new face pads.

  • Really good tech and great in headset visuals too

  • there's a PC mod for Forza Horizon 6

  • Everyday market has it for $485 from BigW + postage. Wait for shopback 28% - 30% rebate will bring it down to $400 mark.

    • Nice idea but how often do those cashback deals come up? Not sure how long this price will last.

  • Tempting. My right controller trigger broke just out of warranty, and have been chasing Sony for a replacement for almost 6 months now. Tempted to just get a new unit as you can’t buy the controllers separately… as unit is basically useless without the controllers (other than GT7).

    • so you gonna reward sony for their shit warranty by giving them more money?

      • That’s why I haven’t yet. But it might be a couple of hundred for a new controller, or double that for a full new unit. If there’s a decent sale that is

        • if you really want it and actually use it then go for it…
if you don't mind risk potentially loss of another approx $500 if the unit gets another faulty controller when out of warranty.

buying any psvr2 is now considered like having no warranty since it is EOL..
if you need replacements parts, it will be hard to get or very expensive

what is actual problem with the controller
how it broke and which part broken?

          • @pinkybrain: Yes exactly. That’s why I have been holding off for 6 months trying to get a new controller through their support. Shocking really they’ve never sold the controllers separately.

The right controller trigger just stopped working. Nothing happened to it. Just wasn’t used for a few weeks then didn’t work all of a sudden. Have tried heaps of things to fix myself but it didn’t work sadly.

It seems like it’s a very common issue.

            • @Justin-aus: what fixes have you tried?
have you try clearing it of debris and open it up to check?

most likely it could be that contact is not touching the trigger is press..

also have you tried any of the fixes here

              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoKNKLs5POY

              https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/119fd6t/widespread_ri…

              • @pinkybrain: Thanks for the links. Yes i’ve tried most of those fixes before, and heaps of other threads that list possible fixes. Probably spent an entire day just attempting fixes.

I bought an electronic contact cleaner too and didn’t help. I’ve fixed my xbox and ps controllers over the years, so this isn’t new to me. The lack of support is though

  • Just keep in mind you can't by replacement parts, cables or controllers if any of them break. So you need to not a whole new setup. Typical Sony crap. Was thinking of buying one until i found this out.

    • That’s what happened to me. My right trigger stopped working randomly. They said I can buy a separate controller from Sony, but they need another team to review and come back to me with a price and process. It’s been 6 months of me chasing them weekly for updates. Nothing. Very frustrating. Wish I had known before I bought initially. I know a few people on this situation

      • Heard the same story from other people as well. Also heard same thing about another PlayStation part as well but came remember what it was. Always hated Sony and never buy their stuff. Absolutely horrible company. They used to shaft musicians years ago buy not paying them. Garbage company.

  • quest 3 or meta glasses on heavy discount yet?

  • Wait for the steam frame vr.

    • will be expensive, also how well does the old valve index still works or supported by valve?

      -$799 and $999 USD

      https://www.google.com/search?q=steam+frame+vr+price&sxsrf=A…

      • No idea on the old one as it wasn't sold in Australia but the price of the new one will be well worth it. Check out the compatibility with steam games, the ability for developers, even Sony and Xbox to develop games to work with it. aaaannnnndddddd you'll be able buy parts for it unlike the trash from Sony. You can't even buy a fricken replacement cable for the PSVR2. And good luck if you break your controller or do break a cable, you have to buy a whole new headset. Did i mention its also wireless and has shit loads better features?

        P. S. I just looked up the valve index and no they are no longer made but they still work fine and still get firmware updates etc.

        P. S. S. The valve frame vr will be sold in Australia.

        P. S. S. S. If you buy a stream deck you will be able to use the valve frame vr with it.

        P. S. S. S. S i just added this p. S. S. S. S. S. S. S for a laugh. Shit i lost count of how many Ss i used
