The difference is due to an unalterable firmware restriction to comply with German/EU laws. In Germany less of the standard 5Ghz and 6Ghz spectrum is allowed to be used. Additionally, for some parts of the spectrum that is allowed, Australia can use it at a higher power. Amazon is doing a disservice offering the crippled one at around half the price – at the very least Amazon should include a large warning.
Until yesterday Bing Lee was selling this at full price. It is hard to imagine that it would not be the Australian product – but I'll know for sure when it arrives (it will have an Australian plug!)
@TehDoctor: The one from Amazon Germany is not the same. This is the Australian model stock from Bing Lee. No WiFi restriction and you get an Australian power supply adapter.
This particular router is rubbish and not worth anywhere near this price.
I got mine new for around $200, and I feel like I overpaid at that.
I saw feedback on Amazon saying its not worth the hassle, try searching keyword on Google "RT-BE92U issues"

If the GL iNet Flint 3 BE9300 can be had on sale for $100 after coupon and cashback (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/961640), what would be some reasons to spend an extra $340 on this? Is it just the better Openwrt support and simultaneous MLO (vs alternating MLO on Flint 3)? Is the range significantly better?

There is no OpenWrt support for this Asus model, and there will (most likely) never will be due to it's SoC being Broadcom.
The Flint 3 goes for $250 or what does this router offer for almost double the price?

Excellent after sales support as in rock solid firmware and constant firmware updates. And likely also excellent warranty support. And less likely to get a defective unit because of the great quality assurance manufacturing.
The gl-inet routers are fantastic quality.
But can it run for many months on end flawlessly without needing a reboot like a good ASUS router can.
@Spendmore: What about long term reliability as in it not borking it suddenly. Also are they quick to fix security issues even a few years later. As in how long is the firmware update support.
Apparently some ASUS routers get 7 years of firmware update support and some others get 10 years from the devices release date. I would like to see a GL.iNet router getting that. But then i suppose you get what you paid for.
@hollykryten: Had a flint 2 for years without borking, it was online months and only got rebooted when the power went out.
They are exceptional quality and very popular.
@Spendmore: Well you buy an ASUS router if you want a long term firmware update support. Way longer than GL.iNet will offer on their routers.
For the ASUS RT-BE92U model it's getting 4 years of firmware updates until 31th December 2028. Yeah you're paying extra for the way longer firmware update support.
@hollykryten: Flint 3 guaranteed firmware updates until 2029, even so at half the price of the Asus i would just buy a flint 4 when that came out which would have newer features and more power.
Of course it does.
Its marginally less powerful than the 2 which had to have the power metred down for Germany. Trust me it ticks any box the Asus does at half the price or less.
At this price, I think the better buy is the unifi udr7. $455
