    Just adding my 2c worth in…
    Garuda's flights from Melbourne to Denpasar departs at 7am, lands at 11.05am (unable to check-in for hours at a hotel)
    From Denpasar to Melbourne departs at 10.05pm, lands at 5.30am (uncomfortable night and/or loss of a night's sleep)
    These are terrible flight times.. stick to QF/JQ/VA for better flight times!

        Do you mean JQ? Jetstar - they have 3 flights daily from Melbourne scattered across the day.
        Not sure about other states.

      The night flights are good if you have kids. They will sleep through most definitely.

      Garuda's timing is much better - you get a full day on arrival, full day on departure - 3 hrs early arrival for hotel/villa is trivial. maximise your stay and complement the Garuda extra time on the ground, pay for a day before and day after to ensure early/late check in/outs - basically you'll pay a few bucks to receive almost a full day extra than you would travelling VA/JQ.

      AUD is buying ~12500/idr - never been so cheap to enjoy bali belly

      that inbound flight is fantastic. By the time you get to your hotel it would be closer 2pm then it would be 11am and most reasonably hotels will check you in early if they have capacity.

      don't disagree about the outbound flight.

      Not sure about hotels in Bali but most places I’ve been to have drop off for luggage so you can go out and come back later for check in. Sometimes they even have facilities where you can shower and change, particularly if they have a pool or gym.

        Some places let you leave luggage on your last day so you can pick it up before going out to the airport. Worth asking if you can use a shower then so you are fresh for the plane.

      It takes 2+ hours to get to places like Ubud so by the time you touch down, get luggage and get a rideshare to those outer areas, it's check-in time anyway.

      From Denpasar to Melbourne departs at 10.05pm, lands at 5.30am (uncomfortable night and/or loss of a night's sleep)

      I spend the day heading back to Kuta and doing shopping at the various malls or see a movie before going to the airport. I pop a melatonin when the plane is in the air and sleep all the way through.

      No, but you're not missing out on GA's business class on these flights. They fly their older plans and their J product is "bleh". Given the seats in economy on them are a nice 32" and it's a 5 hour flight, just save your money.
