  • Same price direct via office works, or am I missing something? https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/motorola-e…

    • Oh thanks! I searched and searched for it on Officeworks and couldn't find it, so thought it must be some kind of special Kmart marketplace thing. I'll try remaking it as direct Officeworks. Update: I asked moderator to change the URL to yours.

  • they're beating Telstra… expect everyone else to drop the pants over the weekend.

    • Hopefully you meant prices. Hopefully.

  • Anyone have one of these? going by reviews it seems most find it best out of the current slim phones

    • Yeah, I got one on pre-release for 450 and it's really good. Very impressed with it. The issue is getting a good screen protector for me, or maybe it's my skill at putting them on.

      • why do you need a screen protector? surely the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i is fine naked.

        • I just hate the tiny scratches that develop over time. Or the instances where something contacts, and you end up chipping the screen. Just put a new screen protector on and all good.

          • @RandomBob84: fair enough, I haven't used a screen protector for well.over 10yrs, probably 15. I try not to put it in a pocket with keys/metal, but the again maybe my old eyes don't see them.

      • Get from AliExpress. Best phone ever use. Snappy enough if you don't play game. Excellent form factor, screen bright. Battery good. Most important prices as i got it 450 when launch. Used to have iPhone 16pro Max just too heavy.

    • just keep in mind that the entire rest of the world gets 12gb ram, australia in particular gets downgraded to 8gb ram.

may matter to you, may not, but that's what the reviews are based on.

      • the entire rest of the world gets 12gb ram, australia in particular gets downgraded to 8gb ram.

well India also gets the 8gb model.

        • Sorry, i should've been more specific.

India gets a choice, both 8gb and 12gb are official locally sold. australia gets only 8gb.

And fwiw, Indias 12/512gb option only costs the equivalent of ~AUD$500 converted at RRP, and China's 12/512gb is only ~AUD$335.

You can try China's, give up on the rom flashing/getting banking apps working, then get India's which already has global ROM/google play, and still still have ~$60 leftover vs Australia's inflated 8gb RRP.

A lot of perspectives to consider things from, but they all lead to Motorola absolutely taking the piss with australian specs and pricing for the 70 series.

          • @xrailgun: Could be worse, UK price for the 12/512 version is £700 ~$1300!
Though at least they get the Edge 70 pro for an extra £49.

    • My wife got the Edge 70 on release day coming from a Pixel 7, gets a full day easily on single charge with Android Auto, social media apps, web browsing, watching videos, some photos, Bluetooth always on and Wi-Fi when at home.
Likes the slimer/lighter design and prefers it over the pixel and hasn't noticed any issues with only having 8gb ram, the pixel 7 was also 8gb ram but she doesn't play any demanding games on her phone, she hasn't complained and i'm normally the first to know when shes not happy LOL.

  • Of course this deal comes up just after I buy an edge 50 neo.
Written using said brand new edge 50 neo :(

    • Hope it's a good phone for you. Meanwhile my Pixel 6 Pro is waterlogged and am reduced to my Moto G82 while I try and dry it out.

  • Wouldn't you expect 12gb RAM at this RRP (when not on a sale)????

    • Yes, but weirdly there are two versions. The one in the Australian market has 8Gb RAM.

    • Not that uncommon to find current phones priced around the edge 70 RRP to have 8gb ram or two versions of the same phone with 8 or 12gb ram.
Majority number of people won't notice the difference.

  • Still available… Thanks!

    • Got one myself and enjoying it! Still using the clear case that comes with it, but have a nicer one in the mail. The buds are fine - very musical with good bass - but have crap noise cancelling and don't stay in my ears as well as my preferred Jabra buds.

      • What case did you get?
Don't really need the buds but this is cheaper than buying it without, will keep them as spares I guess.

        • Well… I went to copy the link to the $10 Amazon Marketplace case I found (similar to carbon-look cases I've had on my last three phones) and discovered it's been "delivered" four days ago by a non-standard Chinese-named shipping company with no photo evidence and no delivery notifcation emails. Think I've been scammed on that one.

        • I've found it again on ebay. Hopefully receive it this time.
