  • It blows my mind that a 4 pack of 2 minute noodles is usually $12.
How does it compare to the 5 pack for $2 ones? https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/336684/ind…

    • legit answer.

      i agree $12 is dumbAF

      however difference is…

      • noodle quality. much much better. and larger size.

      • these are noodle soups

      • they have a more developed sauce/flavour packet flavour.

https://www.coles.com.au/product/otoki-jin-ramen-spicy-insta… <— they are the cheaper version of the same thing.

      • I tried the Jin ramen this week. They're good but definitely not the same thing

      • Those JIN noodles you referenced are essentially a clone of the original Nongshim Shin Ramyun, this deal is for the "black" variant which tastes completely different.

        • closer than the instant noodles the OP was referring to. you can see how i labelled them 'cheaper version of the same thing'.

          but thank you.

    • Those aren't Ultra Premium. These are Ultra Premium.

However, I'll never settle for less than the Super Hyper Mega Ultra Premium noodles. You can usually pick them up on special for $29.99.

    • the Black has a richer, deeper bone broth tasting soup base, I don't usually have instant noodles but this is one of the 5 or so that I like and will dig into. It's slightly more mild than the original, but still spicy, but not spicy for the sake of being spicy and actually has a flavour than just 'let's kill your mouth heehee'.

Usually comes down to the soup/sauce, the cheaper ones I find are a lot more bland, fake/artificial tasting, diluted even with the correct amount of water added, or an odd unnatural flavour or mouthfeel, whereas a premium range it will make you think wow they actually formulated this well and the tastes and textures all works well inside my mouth.

    • You should know by now that the prices are inflated so they can go "on special"

    • Must cost more because they are 4.5 minute noodles, not 2…

Don't like those beef ones as much as the ones they used to sell @ $1, and not just because they are double the price :D Neither are in the same league as Nong Shim tho

    • Never tried those in particular, that's extremely cheap.

I'll comment on Shin Black though, it's about as good as instant ramen goes. The noodles have a good texture and rubberyness to them, the sort you generally want in ramen. Most importantly the soup has a lot going on, three different satchels and there's actual complexity to the taste. I'm not at all a fan of regulan Shin ramen, I think it just tastes like spicyness and salt and not much else. Black (and especially Gold) definitely have real taste to them. Savory, umami, meaty and nothing in your face artificial. I don't really bother with instant noodles that are soupy until you reach this level because before this you may as well just get something else.

Ultimately you just have to try them out and decide if you like them though, no other way to know. For me it's totally worth it on sale.

  • Where do i find the whole catalogue for the next week?

  • How do these compare to the Jin spicy ramen?

    • Comparable but shin ramen are definitely better

  • Sodium 2.54g per serve. WOW!!

    • You can half that figure because it's only mono…

      • plz explain?

    • thats a no go for me 1 serve and you're already over the 2,300 mg per day recommended limit

  • Need Red and Kimchi

  • ShopBack has a $1 bonus cashback this weekend for scanning the receipt
Quilton brand is on it, so should be eligible

  • Is the curry one any good?

  • Thank you OP. Time to back up the bus.

  • PSA if you're collecting cookware credits but are still a little short, today's the last day to get more (but can still redeem untill 7/7)
