Good deal if you want to smash through a few audiobooks cheaply. Note that this is basically a rental, not as good as the Premium Plus membership where you receive a “credit” monthly to buy a book forever. I received this via email, so YMMV.
This got me last time I signed up, they give you one book to choose from every month while you are subscribed but if you cancel and the month lapses you will lose access to it

For regular level, yes. This is how they came up with their cheaper tier. I was caught out recently with an unfinished book.
I recommend avoiding this unless you're absolutely sure you'll be listening all the time - I ended up paying for ages because of the sunk cost in the books I already had.. there was even a class action about it in the US
So with no plus catalogue included, is the only inclusion the one book rental credit per month?
Yes, that is my understanding. If you keep it over months, you still have access to those books but when it lapses, you loose access to all of them.
It's a bit closer to like a playstation plus subscription - you only have access to your monthly titles whilst you're subbed, but you don't lose them completely - they'll still be there if/when you resub later down the line.
Doesn't bother me so much as I doubt I'd go back and re-listen to previous audiobooks to really care, but imo the worst part is that you can't return titles, so if you don't like what you chose, you're stuck with it.
Still, trial's great for several dirt cheap audiobooks as long as you remember to unsub after the third month - but be aware that they won't list it anywhere how long you've got left or even how long the trial is for in the confirmation email, so it's up to you to keep track.

Does anyone know if Libation still works on the items rented through the Standard membership, the same as it does on titles purchased via the Premium Plus membership?
Yes, Libation works for Standard membership just as it does for the Premium Plus membership.
One thing to note, you need to select the specific item you want as your monthly choice, if you add something from your Wishlist to the cart it will show the normal pricing on checkout.

This gives you 2 months of Audible Premium plus membership for free.

What I understand is that you will have 1 month access for each book. Not 3 books simultanously for 3 months just to clarify

I think you can listen to the 3 books you pick for as long as your membership is active, so in the 3rd month of this deal you'll have access to all 3
1st book for 3 months
2nd book for 2 months
3rd book for 1 month
and then if you continue the membership at full price you have access to all 3 indefinitely
