  • A bit of extra context for anyone interested.

Orno started as a side project 18 months ago because I was frustrated with buying charging accessories that either looked terrible, felt cheap, or didn’t travel well. The goal was pretty simple: build a small range of products that looked good on a desk, worked reliably, and didn’t need replacing every few months.

The products themselves have actually been well received. The challenge was everything after that. Competing against brands like Anker, UGREEN and the huge Amazon sellers turned out to be a very different challenge from designing and importing products.

I’ve reached the point where I’d rather focus on my day job, family and other projects than keep carrying inventory and paying ongoing storage costs, so I’ve decided to wind the business down and clear the remaining stock.

For anyone wondering, the products are physically in Melbourne, they ship from Melbourne, and the full 24 month warranty will be honoured.

Happy to answer any questions about the products, the business, or why I decided to pull the pin.

    • Were you involved with any of the EE work, what electrolytic caps did you spec in the BoM?

      • Not to that level unfortunately. The products were manufactured by an established OEM and I don’t have visibility of the component-level BoM, so I can’t give you an accurate answer. I’d rather not guess.

        • Could you please disclose how you ensured quality if it's manufactured by OEM and you don't have visibility at component level BoM?

          • @M27: I wasn’t involved in the component-level electrical design, but I didn’t simply pick products from a catalogue and start selling them either.

The process was more around evaluating multiple OEMs and product samples, testing them over an extended period, checking build quality, thermal performance, charging behaviour, fit and finish, certifications, and overall user experience before deciding what to bring to market.

The focus was on selecting products that met the quality, design and usability standards I was looking for, rather than designing the underlying electronics myself.

That’s also part of the reason the range remained very small — I’d rather have a handful of products I was comfortable standing behind than hundreds of SKUs.

  • Still pricy.

  • How will you honour the 24 month warranty if you clear your remaining stock?

    • Fair question.

The intention is to continue honouring the warranty even after the remaining inventory has been sold. I’ll be retaining a small quantity of stock for warranty purposes and support.

In situations where a replacement isn’t possible, I’ll provide an alternative resolution, including a refund where appropriate.

One of the advantages of having a relatively small product range is that it’s manageable for me to continue supporting customers even after the business has stopped selling new products.

I appreciate the question though, as it’s something I’d be asking too.

  • Sorry mate none of your stock can compete in price

  • I would 100% buy it from you in future, currently I don't need any chargers or powerbank but I just wanted to comment that I would like to support a local brand, I don't care if it made in china, dropshipped or anything else, people don't seem to understand this is how you support local brands but people just tend to discard products if they're dropshipped like even if it is dropshipped ultimately thw money I pay to buy it goes to an Australian company that pays Australian taxes and contributes to Australian Economy and also does R&D to build better products and also employs Australian People and also my criticism to all the people who discard products based on if they're dropshipped is basically everything is dropshipped grom a banana to a pair of jeans if you look from the lens of dropshipping but we still buy them from Coles and Levis

    • Appreciate that. I’m under no illusion that we can beat every Amazon/marketplace deal on price, especially against much larger brands, but the goal was to build a small range of quality charging accessories with local stock, local support and a clean design. Thanks for the comment.

    • What are you talking about? This bloke is just a middle man, taking margin. If you buy directly from Aliexpress, you still pay GST which goes into your beloved government's coffers.

  • Please kindly let me know when the powerbank down to $35!

  • Hey m8 any option for local pick up? Cheers :)

  • Quick update:

A few people pointed out that the Complete Charging Kit was sitting just below the free shipping threshold, which wasn’t ideal.

I’ve adjusted the store so that free standard shipping now applies from $90, meaning the Complete Charging Kit and other qualifying orders will now receive free standard shipping automatically.

    Appreciate the feedback.
