I thought it was only part racing? More like a minigame collection thing? Like Mario party with racing?

There's a dedicated racing mode if that's what you're after, the tracks are top notch. My favourite though is the co-op mode City Trial. In it you explore a large battle map collecting power-ups, and stealing them by hitting the other team. Once the time is up you enter a random race or battle minigame, and the team who gets most points wins. It's chaotic and great fun with 4 players.

Kirby Air Riders is a really fun and fairly unique kart racing game. Also has 4 player local co-op. Highly recommended.
