          Nah it's fine no issues.

          But I did have a first gen Switch from the US and it wouldn't connect to 5GHz. Had to use a USB hub with ethernet to comfortably download games.

      Not a silly question if you don't know it. As the comment above states, this is not a video game console. While it can play games it's an Android Tablet. You can play games but it's more about everything else that you would typically do on a tablet.

      It won't have the exclusives (lifeblood of Nintendo) but for cross platforms it is possible that this will run them, as you can play a large number of PC games via steam using GameHub, while Gamenative will also give you access to Epic, GOG and Amazon games on top. There are other windows emulators but these two are the most plug and play (but may still require changing settings for optimal performance).

      So if you have a backlog of free Epic and Amazon games, this will give you access to them on the go. The emulation is still improving but it is absolutely at a point where it is very usable and can be recommended.

      But as usual, do your research, see if there are videos or posts of people who have successfully (or failed to) run the game(s) you want to play.

      Do note that the ergonomics may not be as "natural" as a switch as it is a tablet with no physical game buttons. It will work great with turn based mouse only games via touch but anything that works better with a controller you will have to think about an additional peripheral(s) which adds weight and bulk or desk space.

        I have this tablet and i would only recommend PC game emulation for games made before 2015. Even then because there's no active cooling on this it thermal throttles pretty quick with any demanding emulation. I might upgrade to the 8 Elite Gen 5 version once it gets a bit cheaper.

          Oooh that's cool! I kinda gave up on the idea of a small tablet when I confirmed the Y700/Legion Tabs were too big for my Gamesir telescoping controller.

            @Morkai: There's a pull tab that you can remove inside the GameSir controllers (like the G8 Telescopic) and it works just the same. But it allows you to extend the size further. With the likes of the G8 you can fit in an iPad Pro (11in) inside, although an iPad Mini (8 in) is preferred.

            RedMagic makes the best Android Tablets, but their Stock OS (Chinese ROM) is meh. Lenovo is a close second, but at least you can get them with English ROM and Local Warranty. Samsung tablets are either bad or overpriced or both.

            The above Lenovo Tablet is the fastest Android Tablet that uses Standard Cores. So there's much better compatibility for emulation and translation (Windows XP/7/10 Games). It will take another 12-18 months for the Custom Cores (Oryon) to reach Code Maturity, especially when talking about Custom Vulkan Drivers. And when that happens, they will outperform these older chipsets by a factor of 20%-50% which might be necessary. So that's a reason to hold off on this purchase, but otherwise, you can pick this up now and enjoy it very much then upgrade 2 Years later if you like Gaming on the Go. Sadly we can no longer say "just get a SteamDeck" since it is getting older and older and it's prices are getting higher and higher.

      You want the legion go z1e, basically this tablet but with controllers and running windows. That has freedom to run any game, including switch itself.

        I've seen the OG ROG Ally go on ebay/facebook market place for low $500s. Yeah they are two years old now and out of warranty, but to your point they will be able to play anything.

    I managed to get a Lenovo Legion Y700 Gen 5 (Legion Tab 5 here in Aus) for $560 after cashback.

    Was $880 from AliExpress and there was a TopCashbackUK 25% cashback deal, but it tracked my USD order in GBP (instead of $630.95 USD, it tracked at 630.95 GBP) which meant my cashback was more like 36% back when converted to AUD (through Wise).

    It's been amazing to use and the lack of an OLED screen isn't that noticeable as it's a very good LCD screen. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is also overkill and the SD card inclusion is solid.

    Couldn't be happier for the $560 I paid (cashback all received within a month).

    This Legion Tab wouldn't be much different in perceivable performance (8 Elite Gen 5 is more powerful than 8 Gen 3, but it already runs every Android game and emulator you'd want anyway), so you won't be disappointed with this tablet for AU stock.

      I used SuperDisplay (paid app) to turn my Samsung Tablet into a second display. It should work on all Android Tablet, but there's a 3 day trial to test it before paying.

      EDIT: there might be some other (free) alternatives now, but that's what I've been using for years.

          If I remember correctly, I also tested the Samsung 'Second Screen' which I believe was wireless only at the time. It was very laggy, which was why I looked at SuperDisplay for a wired connection.

          This was years ago, so Samsung Second Screen might be better now.

          EDIT: looks like OneUI 7.0 introduced wired connection now. Maybe I should test it next time.

        FWIW the RedMagic Astra was $8xx on Amazon when it was in stock. It has a 9" OLED panel.

        $499 is a lot cheaper than $8xx though!

      There's two factors here to consider, aspect ratio an size…

      Aspect ratio:
      This screen is 16:10 - which is pretty good for comics. 3:2 is probably best for maximising page size.

      Size:
      Size is very much a personal preference, but this could be a good guide to understanding if 8.8" inches is big enough for you.

      I use to read on a Nexus 7 so I'd say 8.8" is fine - plus there's plenty of iPad mini readers out there.
      But I'm sure there are others that would think it's on the small side.

        I have read on a nexus 7 too, and a xoom 10", Samsung A6 10", iPad (9.8"? ) and M10 at the moment.

        If the 8.8 is too small for my old man eyes (needing too much pinch to zoom) my son said he take it as an early birthday present for games. What's the bet 12.7" is too big and I go back to the m10

      I have the same question. Yesterday, I went to Officeworks and got them to price match iPad Mini 7 256gb with Costco ($959) and 5% price beat. Got it for $911.

      Then late at night (just before midnight) I purchased this one from JB.

      I will return one and keep one. I am a part-time student and will get a hefty tax back. At 45% tax back, I will pay $501 for iPad Mini or $274 for this one.

      So people of Ozbargain, which one to keep and which one to let go?

      Note1 : I have both compatible Apple Pencil and Lenovo Stylus for these as well.

      Note2: iPad mini 7 has seen a massive price increase and soon retailer (like Apple) will start selling it for $1149 for 256gb due to chip shortage. iPad mini 8 might be even more expensive knowing Apple.
