  • Is this camera any good?

    • No. Locked behind subscription

    • I have two indoor and two outdoor and they work just fine. They’re not “locked behind a subscription” I don’t have a subscription and they still work. I can check in on them from my phone and they send alerts if anyone walks in front of them. The subscription is if you want to save footage and they pretty much all do that. There is a device you can get that records footage to a card without a sub, but if you’re robbed they can just take it which happened to someone I know. I have Ring as well and pay the sub for my doorbell, there’s no way around subs if you want a company to give you cloud storage.

      • Eufy systems don't require a subscription to save footage and access it remotely, via SD cards or the homebase.

A subscription is required if you want actual cloud storage, but it gives you a lot of the features other brands/ecosystems lock behind subscriptions.

      • Yeah I am thinking I will need to hide it some place in the ceiling, if a thief wants to go in there and get it be my guest, they will probably get caught if they are there that long

        • Don’t hide it in the ceiling, it will get too hot.

          • @subydooby: Pay attention to their ad… It says it can stand severe weather conditions, rain, dust, microwave, hell, and so on 🤓

      • I have tapo and it saves without subscription. not all of them need subscription to save.

        • Yes, I went from ring to Tapo as well. no subscription and saves videos on micro sd.

i bought blink mini 2 when it was on sale last year. It's trash. ring and blink are both owned by amazon.

i also use wyze which supports 24/7 continuous local recording on MicroSD card that is viewable in the app without a subscription.

      • I saw a post somewhere that someone got AI (Anthropic -Claude (Fable 5 before it got banned) to reverse engineer the EUFY software on the device and pointed the cloud storage at their local NAS….. sounded simple enough

        • There is no need to use AI for it. Someone already posted a project on github on how to achieve it.

          https://github.com/OVR92/BlinkPi

Come on, give people some credit. Using AI to hack Blink code… lol… that's exactly why Anthropic is reluctant to do release Fable 5. Also, doing it to a Chinese company is one thing… hacking a big brother (USA) company is another (you are brave).

  • Blink and you'll miss it.

  • Thanks OP, I have been considering doing a monthly trial for Prime considering the upcoming sales……I signed up for a trial and instantly got a voucher for the cameras. Yes..Cameras plural….Two of for $20.

  • Good to hear that it works even with a trial.

Dont forget that it also has the 2 years of FREE DashPass (as posted previously)

    • if you sign now it is not 2 year any more. the dashpass end November this year. only 5 month

      • Never used Doordash before. There is a 50% off first order deal out there (delivery only). Can we make use of both and get free delivery?

      • I think the offer ends in November?

      • That's not correct. You get 2 years of Dashpass.

        • so need a new account to get the 2 year dashpass?

          • @RichardF89: No, it doesn't need to be a new account, it just needs to be the first time you've activated the promotion on that account.

    • Yeah, thanks for that. The cameras get a bad wrap because of subscription fees. The camera itself is quite good (according to users).
The way around fees is to purchase the Sync Module 2 ($59) which has a USB port for local storage. No Subscription Fees Needed.
So, for $79, I have a 2 camera local storage system with no fees…ever.
I reckon that is a good deal. Further to that, I get to grab me some Prime deals.

      • Just a heads up that the outdoor 4 3 camera and Sync Module 2 system was 79 bucks and less after discounts 6 months ago when I bought mine, so this is a very decent deal of you have the cameras only but adding the sync module at full price makes it a lot more average

Regarding the module, I was amazed at how poor they connected when wifi range was poorz, but I should try them again since I set up a mesh system

        • would be interested how you go - I have the same system and its still in the box - yes I got the deal 6m ago too

    • would need to be active for those 2 years of Free DashPass

  • Ordered. Thanks

  • is this targeted?

cannot see it. and where is the item page…thx

  • Worst most useless product that exists. You are better off installing a dummy.

    • I agree. I returned mine after nearly a year of use. Just garbage!!

      • Can you just say, bad wifi or something, or what was bad?
        I hate subscription.
So, if that is the reason, that is fine.

        • Short version. Blink knows what it is doing. Without subscription, it is crippled. Also, for Blink outdoor cameras running on AA batteries (even if lithium AA), there is a trade off of longer event recording vs battery life. Unlike a doorbell camera, the chance of people not moving away from the camera is low.

          Long version:

          • Without subscription, you lose person and vehicle detections, so you are left with basic motion detections. It might be okay 10 years ago, but nowadays, that's subpar. False positive notifications can be quite annoying. You don't care about tree branches moving for example.
          • Even if you have sync module 2 and store the files locally (after you stopped using subscription), Blink app is cloud based so it won't access the local files directly from your LAN / internal subnet. It goes Blink cloud server to sync module, then back to cloud server then to your mobile device. Blink has zero incentive to make reading local files fast. You can remove the USB stick and put it on a PC but you are not going to do that all the time. This package does not include Sync Module 2, only Sync Module Core, so you don't get local storage at all.
          • Batteries. Ideally, you want to use them with minimal motion events, but that means you want to avoid using them in high traffic area.
          • WiFi, sometimes it does play up.
          • Blink app isn't flexible enough.

Without subscription, they are best used as secondary cameras (where you don't care about motion events or you don't find too many false positive events because your proper primary surveillance system handles majority of events you care about). Or, another feasible usage is you only want to manually check certain areas when required. However, those usage patterns don't make sense for most OZBers. Most OZBers prefer cost effective monitoring systems. Not two systems where these cheap cameras are used to compliment the primary ones.

          • @netsurfer: Thanks for the information. I initially bought the 2k doorbell/chime bundle and thought the sync module core still did local storage. Found a way to still get the outdoor 4 bundle/doorbell with module 2 for $35. So might just keep the both to use the better doorbell, chime and module 2.

            • @Damannation: That is a good deal, how did you do that?

              • @Kelpei: If you click on any blink item in Amazon, at the top of the page go to "visit the blink store", scroll down to the "blink outdoor 4", in that listing if you scroll down a little it will say "bundles with this item" and the top option still gives you the outdoor 4, sync module 2 and regular video door bell for $35 but if you search. Did the same thing with the blink 2k doorbell, sync module core and chime which was $39. The work around still works too.

            • @Damannation: This bundle only includes one pack camera. Is that correct?

Also, will the Sync module 2 work with the outdoor 2k+ camera that comes with the Sync module core?

  • Link to the Blink?

Can I use it to monitor for a knob who keeps illegally dumping? Want to put in tree to get number plate / truck details.

  • Have had two Blink outdoors for a few years and they’ve been great.

No they don’t require a subscription.

    • That is good to hear.

    • What is the mount like? Screw into wall and was it easy?

    • How would you record it if they we don’t want to add subscription?

  • How are you getting it for $20?

  • Wjays 20 bucks ?? Im seeing it as $109

    • Same. By the way I bought the 3 x pack for $80 bucks they’ve been great. Came with a seperate wifi unit that I have an SD card in. No dramas.

  • I bought a 2 camera system Blink outdoor 4 1080P an year ago. Can those cameras be connected together with this one?

    • Can't see why not

    • Assuming you also have the Sync Module 2, specs say it's compatible with all Blink cameras. As such, jumped on this to add these two cameras to my Outdoor 4 setup. 🤞

  • show $109 when clicking the link, price error perhaps?

    • You will get an email like below

  • title should be changed to new sign ups to Prime, it's misleading for current prime users

  • i think the link should be this one

    https://www.amazon.com.au/b?node=5628052051

    • It’s for new sign-ups only.

I originally had the title as :
“Join Amazon Prime and get…” but it got changed

  • Thanks OP,
Got the cameras for $10 with payto promotion

  • Well done. Don’t know how to add the “payto promotion” to the description though for everyone to see and benefit…

  • Without subscription, it's becoming stupid and sending you nonstop notifications.

  • I had $6 promo for electronics and got 2 cameras for $12. Thanks OP

    • Came here to say that. $6 per camera is a great deal!

    • is not it $14? how you got its $12?

      • Oops I meant $8 off for electronics.

        • Thanks for your confirmed

  • How does one get this deal

    • Sign up to Amazon Prime

      • I am already??

      • Ive signed up. Now where do you go?

        • Check your emails for the link and add to cart. Also don’t forget to click the promo buttons to get it down to $12 delivered. Price updates in cart.

          • @Doowyah: Thanks mate. I will keep an eye out.

  • What’s the point of this if there no local storage unless you buy the Sync Module 2 or cloud sub

  • Please note this only comes with the Sync Module Core which I don’t believe allows for local storage. I already have the Sync Module 2 with a usb for local storage. This would require a subscription to record.

    • Another tip if you want to extend the trial is to register each camera separately at the end of 30 days. I found this worked last year but not sure if they fixed the loophole.

Blink Subscription Plan: The purchase of Blink camera or doorbell includes a free 30-day trial of the Blink Plus Subscription Plan

  • Signed up 2x separate emails and claimed 2 of the deals.

Will cancel the trial in a month , doesn't say anything in the T&C that it's a deal breaker if you cancel.

    • How long after signing up did the email come through?

      • straight away. I did the sign up and purchase within 5 mins

NOTE: I have multiple extra gmail accounts, so that helps with speeding up the sign up

  • Can these stream rtsp? Could feed them into frigate as sensor cams

  • good deal

  • Since I’m already at Prime member I can’t get this deal???

Unfair not looking after your long serving prime members

    • Sign up with a new email.

      • Wouldn’t I be then spending more on a subscription

        • Yep, that's where Amazon claws their money back.

I'm already paying for a sub as I set these up at my parents' house a year ago. I'm now buying Blink sysmtem for my house to replace my Ring setup. Unlike the Ring sub which needs a sub per location, Blink can set up multiple locations with unlimited cameras on a single account. So I'll have my parents house as one location, my house as another.

        • No, free 30 day Prime trial on new account

  • This is trash. Waste of $20 whoever spending on it

    • Couldn’t agree more. People really have money to burn

  • Cheers OP! 🍻

  • No idea why people are bashing these units. They work as intended, I'm actually surprised at the quality given Amazon is basically throwing them at people and make their money back on the sub.

    • We can get that offer with trail as well.

    • not just the sub probably getting paid for all your data too

  • got them at $12. ta op.

  • $12 after reedemed discount as well.
It was under the photo on the product page.

  • Just got it for $16 had some other discount, Thank you, this is a true bargain!

  • Can someone screenshot or give some more details about that additional $8 off ? I got the email from amazon but checkout is still $20

    • On the product page before adding into card under the photo you can see Redeem button, if it is not there it means you do not have.

      • I see that and click Redeem. But when checking out, it still shows up as $20. What did I do wrong?

        • I found the tricky, not sure how others did or probably they just fixed.
the item is showing as $77 not original $2xx so the code is not eligible. as long as add total to $100 (simply test with amount 2) then $8 off applied.
also if add up to $80, DIY6 will be applied.

          • @test8888: That's what I thought … but confused as others could claim it … thanks for clarifying.

            • @RainInWinter: today's good deal to buy together with FireTV max:

              Items: $137.00
              Delivery: $0.00
              Total: $137.00
              Savings (3): -$75.00
              Blink Prime Offer -$57.00
              $10 off w/ Afterpay -$10.00
              $8 off Electronics -$8.00

              Order Total: $62.00

  • Cancelled and reapplied $8 discount thanks

    • Where did you find the $8 discount kind sir ?

    • Good tip thanks

    • So, you @cryptos were able to cancel your first order and reorder using the code again?
