BARGERO4EVER

Mod: App is overloaded as per rep comment. Try again in a few hours.

Hey OzBargain,

Some of you may have seen my previous Bargeroo posts. I genuinely appreciate everyone who downloaded the app, tested it, gave feedback, challenged things, and even roasted me a bit in the comments. Honestly, all of it helped.

This time I’m offering free lifetime Bargeroo Pro for OzBargain users.

Coupon code: BARGERO4EVER

Normal Pro pricing is:

  • $2.99/month
  • $24.99/year
  • $59.99 lifetime

This code unlocks the lifetime Pro subscription for free.

How to redeem
  • Download Bargeroo on iOS or Android
  • Open the app
  • Go to the More screen
  • Tap Bargeroo Pro
  • Enter coupon code BARGERO4EVER
  • Tap Redeem

No card needed.

Quick disclosure

I’m the developer of Bargeroo.

And yes, I know what some people are probably thinking:

Another grocery price comparison app?

Fair enough. There are a few of them around now.

I’m not going to pretend Bargeroo is the first app to compare grocery prices. It’s not. But I’ve been building this app for around a year now, and my goal has been to make the version I personally wanted to use: something simple, quick, useful, and focused on helping people actually save money without jumping between multiple supermarket apps.

Bargeroo compares grocery prices across Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and Chemist Warehouse. It also includes features like price history, smart shopping lists, specials, favourites, price drop alerts, stock availability checks, and Pro removes ads/unlocks Pro limits.

Why I’m giving lifetime Pro away for free

I’ll be honest.

I’m still a student, and I can’t really afford to pay for a proper testing audience. I’ve put a lot of time, heart and soul into this app, and I feel like it’s finally ready for wider public use.

I’m not saying the app is perfect. It still has things that can be improved, and I’m sure real users will find things I haven’t noticed yet. That’s actually the reason I’m doing this.

I need people using the app in real shopping situations so I can find what needs improving and make it better.

I’ve also wired up easy feedback options inside the app itself, so if you notice anything or have suggestions, you can send feedback directly from there.

What you get is lifetime Pro access to an app I’ll keep actively improving and upgrading.

What I get is honest feedback from people who actually care about saving money and know what a useful grocery app should do.

If you try it and send feedback through the app, I’ll be keeping a close eye on it and will aim to fix app-side issues within 48 hours where possible.

Thanks again to everyone who supported the earlier versions, gave feedback, challenged things, or roasted me in the comments. It genuinely helped shape the app.

  • BARGERO4EVER

Would you like to buy a vowel?

    • Haha I had a character limit on coupon codes and didn’t have time to update the app before posting 😅

So one O had to be sacrificed.

      Working code: BARGERO4EVER

      • In that case I would have gone with:
        BARGEROO4EVA

        • Fari call

        • BARGEROO4EVA

          Who is Eva?

          • @rvsure: I'll go one better, why is Eva?

            • @Morkai: I can see nothing goes over your head.

Your reflexes are too fast and you would catch it.

      • BARGEROOFREE

  • Code not working for me. Code did not work, try again.

    • Hey, can you please double-check that the code is entered exactly as BARGERO4EVER?

I can see it has already worked for 150+ accounts, so it should be active.

If it still doesn’t work, please go to More → Report an issue in the app and send it through. I’ll manually grant you Premium.

      • have sent through a report - thanks for responding

      • thanks but is shows as expires in 12 months. I thought this is lifetime pro?

        • Its because I manually granted it from my side. It will automatically renew after 12 months.

      • Code is not working and got an error while submitting a report an issue. Any other solution?

        • Same here.

      • Couldn't submit feedback too

        • Yes, same here - "That code didn't work. Try again." and it never works - also, no option to report an error is showing in the app.

    • I think i was adding to my google wallet not the app.
But I cant see where to add the coupon as it takes me to my google wallet immediately?

      • You can go into the app -> more -> upgrade to bargeroo pro -> Enter the coupon code there -> redeem

        • I can't see the field to enter the code.
There are options for me to select either monthly, yearly, and lifetime (radio buttons). Then a button will change the description according to whichever radio button I selected. Below the button, there is this text "Restore Purchases" and thats it.

          • @wingcross: what worked for me (iOS), I installed app, created account (signed in on my Apple ID), couldn't see the spot for promo code.

Killed app, restarted, went "more"->upgrade to bargeroo pro… and just before I gave up, I noticed down the very bottom of the screen, in barely noticeable grey font, was "enter promo code". I did, and it worked.

I'm now not sure if the box as always there and I didn't notice it, or if I needed to restart after signing in. But it worked for me, YMMV

edit: I tested logout and log back in, hit "restore purchases" and then it picked up the previously added pro subscription. Kudos to the OP, so many promo codes don't seem to persist.

            • @quick-dry: @quick-dry
I killed the app and went into the app again. This time, I can see the empty field. I put in the code and it works ! Thank you.

        • I'm getting same issue whereby there's no spot for the coupon to be entered once I hit Upgrade to bargeroo pro

          • @BearDaBest: You need to log in to an account

            • @Jimmil44: I am logged in to an account.

              • @BearDaBest: Strange. I can see the field to input the code, but it doesn't work for me. Can't change any settings, load any photos or even send an error report. Have messaged the Dev.

        • Nowhere to redeem in app on Android. I previously had the month trial or whatever you gave out earlier.

          • @tessel: I'm realising now that I can't even load the front page with products - I wonder if we have accidentally DDOSed the server.

        • Yeah, I'm having the same issue as the guys below and I logged in with my gmail account

          • @Yiannakis50: Same.

            Edit:
OK so you have to sign up with an email then log in with that, not sign in with your Google/Apple account.

        • Same for me, nowhere to put in the code. Logged in and on iOS. Tried restarting the app

          • @Travis Heads Mo: Same, nowhere to input code for me

            • @koven: @jans-johnson:

App is working for me now and the coupon spot comes up :)

            • @koven: I had the same issue on my pixel 10P XL… I fixed it by reducing my screen resolution to 1080 x 2404. This then allowed me to see the redeem code box and scroll.

              • @jhaley3180: Found you could also split screen the app to access the redeem code box

        • My Feedback

          Upgrade to Pro screen:
iphone - No coupon code field shows
Google Pixel - coupon code field shows, took several tries to get code to register for the Pro upgrade, figured it was getting slammed from ozbargain.

Registration email - went to spam.

          Thanks

        • there is no place to add code

          it just showed now. done

          • @Harsh Deep: Still not working for me, I first tried signing in with my Google account, then I reset the app completely and signed up with my email address.

Nothing at all coming up on the Upgrade page where I can enter a promo code. Pixel 9 Pro XL, changing screen resolution as mentioned above did nothing either. I have contacted the dev via the app.

Edit: well I tried to submit a bug report twice, it thinks about it for a bit then just returns me to the screen where I'd typed in the info. No idea if the dev will even receive it.

            • @bonezAU: I had to restart the app multiple times (Pixel 7)

I also "accidentally" subscribed for a month which I'm not bothered with considering you're a student whois giving away a lifetime sub for an application intending to save me money from monopolies.

              Thank you!

              • @NonAccount: Yep, I gave up on it and then checked again about 45 mins later and the promo code box appeared.

It now says I am "signed up - this device only - sign in to your account to use on multiple devices" right underneath where it shows me signed into my account!

                Progress, however.

                • @bonezAU: Just my 2 cents on this, others experiences may have been different.

For me, the problem was not that the enter code field wasn't there, it's that I could not scroll the screen down far enough to access it. It definitely was there on my first time accessing it, I could just see the redeem code greyed out underneath the onscreen buttons on my S26U. It fixed itself for me after I tabbed out to another screen, then tabbed back, did not have to close as others have suggested.

It seems, at least for me, that the first time accessing the program, the scroll function seemed to be locked.

  • Worked. Thanks OP

  • Been using for couple of weeks now. Got a notification this morning for a item that i was watching to pricedrop. Nice app.

    • Thanks a lot! Really glad the price drop alert worked for you. This genuinely means a lot 🙏

  • Be nice integrating this into Home Assistant.

    • Thanks! I’ve already added an assistant inside the app itself.

Home Assistant integration would be really cool too — I’ll definitely look into bringing it there as well.

  • Cool app, will defs be using moving forward. Is there any way to set notifications for price drops below a certain price?

  • The app works great, it's got a few gaps here and there on products that don't show up, but the monitoring, price history and notifications are on point.

Great work mate, and thanks for sharing with the community!

    • Hello, no offense but I just want to know why? Who spends time anymore writing code without AI?

    • Commit what to it, :P

    • I feel like these days asking if AI is in your app is like asking if a tractor was used to grow your food.

      • More like did the tractor use a GPS guidance system??

        • In any case the alternative is making organic home grown code by using assembly.

  • Thanks OP. Will give it a workout.

  • Good work mate

  • thanks OP, good app.

  • Useful app, cheers OP!

  • The problem acquiring pro version with a promo code. It doesn’t register with app id on apple purchases. So tomorrow we can’t restore it. If we switch the device. You should add a function so we should be able to restore

    • You can always login with your email and the Pro would be shifted to the email. Then you can access pro in any device you login with the email.

        • OP clearly said he's looking for feedback and still working on the App. He's a student.

Every App with a online backend is going to have issues when there's a massive influx of usage and the server is getting smashed.

Downvoting when OP is being responsive to questions and working to fix them is such a scummy move.

        • Same for me - upgraded to Pro, created an account, Pro was removed, and cant be reinstated.

      • You’d be surprised many avoid the email signup.

Consider taking the feedback above to have it tied to the Apple ID (like many other apps on the platform worth their salt.)

It’s one less barrier/ friction point removed to have the app absorbed.

    • That's why it's against Apple policy to offer external promo code.

  • Code doesn't work.

  • I tap More

There's no Bargeroo Pro only Upgrade to Bargeroo Pro which does not have a spot to enter a coupon code.

    What am I missing? Android

    • Yes. You can Click on Upgrade to Bargeroo pro and you will see a place to enter the coupon code. If not you can scroll down and then see it.

      • Ah I needed to scroll. Where's my second morning coffee 😂

        • lol made the exact same mistake- fixed it by drinking 2 coffees!!

      • Worked. Thanks OP

    • Scroll down

    • the redeem option pops up after a few seconds, but it isnt working after entering the code.

  • I can't see where to put the coupon code - it goes straight to google pay

    • You have to open the app. Click on "Upgrade to bargeroo Pro" and then you will see where to enter the code.

      • Maybe I'm blind but I cannot see where to enter the code here: https://ibb.co/ccJ8VqF9

        • Same here. And guessing if I click "get lifetime" it will be $59.99 charged to my account?

        • Same for me, waited but still no code area

        • Same. This pop up does not scroll. I'm wondering if the code part is hidden below the bottom text and certain screen resolutions don't render it? I use 3 button navigation. A lot of apps don't account for that and elements are often stuck behind it.

        • Likewise. Scrolled, waited, nothing.

        • Click "get lifetime", it should come up with play store pay options, click the payment method, it should then come up with an option down the bottom to redeem code. The code doesn't work for me, but this is how to get to the code AFAIK

          • @uncle-shauny: That's to enter a Google Play gift card code

            • @bedlamau: Yep I was wrong, I just came to delete my comment but too late.

The code redemption box is now showing below the get lifetime button and the code worked 👌

        • Code redeem shows up after I fiddled with Preferred Categories.

          • @Mild October: This is what fixed it for me.
I tried closing app and reopening, code field still not available.
I changed preferred categories and then had a message at the top saying there was an error updating.
Closed app and reopened again and the change I made had saved.
Then on the upgrade screen the code field then showed.

      • Code field also doesn't appear for me either.

        https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/243802/130134/screensh…

      • I had the same issue on my pixel 10P XL… I fixed it by reducing my screen resolution to 1080 x 2404. This then allowed me to see the redeem code box and scroll.

      • I had to adjust the Zoom Level option in my Android phone display settings to see the box. Reducing the font size on its own did not help.

    • Scroll down, on my android you had to scroll down to find the coupon code box.

      • On mine you had to wait a bit for the text box to appear

    • I'm having the same experience as you

  • Thisnis a great app and will be handly for next grocery

Few things might make it a top notch, happy to pass some feedback if you tell me what way works for you?

    • Appreciate it mate. There is already an option to submit feedback in the More screen. You can use that.

  • Thanks OP. Code worked, nice app - I'll play with it and set some alerts etc. Appreciate your hard work.
