      Hope this ends up helping others as well.

      I use other things in Find Hub: would prefer to keep one app.

      I avoid Samsung account: activation process require a Samsung account?

      I am on a S25, so no issue with Samsung to Samsung compatibility. (Don't need Utag).

      Just AI-ed this and looks like this is not for me.

      1. It doesn't use Find Hub.
      2. It does need Samsung account to activate
      3. Utag allows tags to work on non Samsung phone, but I use a S25 already.

  The usefulness of these depends on whether the region you're travelling has a large market penetration of Samsung phones. Location updates in China and Japan in particular, can be very sporadic.

  Truth, personal experience between Samsung tag2 and UGreen android tags varies greatly between countries.
  1. Asia - equally well. Except in China where googleFind somehow was dead for days. Samsung was getting once a day update(metropolitan)
  2. Europe, more frequent update with Samsung. Samsung was getting updates in the Noweigian sea often. Whereas googlefind only updates near the coast.
  3. In Australia, major cities I've travelled, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney all updates frequently, however Samsung has a 7 day history, which is very neat)
  In conclusion, perhaps Google need to sort out their background permission on ALL devices(apple does it without telling you anyway) before it can be reliable and accurate. I did not carry Samsung phone overseas, so tracking is not biased.
  Hope this helps ppl over the fence on which ecosystem to buy

  these tags are not good if you do not have a samsung phone, even when using utag there are bugs with tracking and visibility of the tags, the refresh location was pretty piss poor when I used it in Japan to track some children.

    These tags run on Samsung's own network ie. needs lots of other Samsung phones around. I can't imagine Samsung being too popular in Japan. Their local telcos run lots of local/ affiliated brand phones. docomo with Sony or Sharp phones (Google's Find Network) for example as well as generally Apple iPhones (Apples own Find Network).
