Amazon / Prime Day Price Jacking - a Thread for Tracking

Hi all,

Setting up a thread to track products where you believe the prices have increased while on sale for Prime Day on Amazon. This may be a bust and all offers are genuine, but each year I see people posting that offers aren't real and are higher than they were pre sale.

If you believe you have a case, where the price is higher "on sale" for prime day but has been typically cheaper in the previous 90 days, post the camelcamelcamel link below.

I'd like to think if we can document enough evidence on 1 thread then we can use this link to report to the ACCC for investigation.

I personally don't believe Amazon would be foolish enough, given the ACCC targeting this area recently with Coles/Woolworths. But perhaps it is the independent sellers who are pulling a fast one. Either way, I'm hoping to end the debate if this is a genuine issue or not.

      Camels is one of the tracking tools including ozb here for local user ref and feedback, google shopping for store to store comparision, edge shopping tool for quick find, etc. The final result would be based on how much time, effort, skill, and shopping experience we have/are willing to spend in exchange for little further saving.

      Some if not many deals here are generally considered proved by our members. As long as you need one that is not an impulse buy, it's a pass.

    There are bargains but there's also a strong level of 'Jack lives here' going on.

    Innumerable items in my lists are flagged as deals but their prices are not ATLs or lower than prices available in the last 30 days.

      I noticed that too. Travel packs that are $8 in Kmart and maybe $20 in Anaconda are $33 dollars on Amazon Prime.

    Shark Steam & Scrub Automatic Mop. Amazon says RRP $349.99 but JBHiFi lists it as RRP $199.00, so the discount (-57%) is not as awesome as it seems. JBHiFi has it at $157 at the moment. Amazon $149.15. Not much of a saving.

    I bought some shoes for $44 hours prior to Prime Day, check the price at 12am, price jumped up to $69…

    The only real Prime Day deals were their pricing errors.

    I have a feeling that once Amazon monopolises online market they will behave worse than even Woollies and Coles…maybe
    And then no more small businesses

    I made the bold guess Pepsi products would be $3 off a case, and it’s $21, no subscribe and save though, I’ll bank it, that’s about all Prime day is worth, every other special is meh and regular

    like some others here, every single item in my Recently viewed was the same price.

    some people got lucky I guess.

    probably most sale items are the most popular good selling products in the $100+ $200 range. and even then it's never ATL on prime sales.

    But rather than fooling specific people, their real fish in these so-called Prime Days are new annual subscriptions.
    That is where the big money is.
    The people who have been with Amazon know they sell the same toilet paper, coconut water, and detergents, and some Chinese electronics, which they"push sell" with high "reviews" and few minor ones; otherwise it is all the same in the annual cycle
    Coconut water is 33% for 3 weeks (maybe just to show), 19$ for another 2 weeks, and 16$ in these so-called prime days
    But the only problem is maybe Woollies; Coles would not bring any cost down even if this drama is not done…so do not know what to say

    prime day means nothing….just track what you want to buy using 3camels.

    You might get a good deal on prime day, you may also get a good deal any other day.

    anyone else noticing how item with Deal price is lower than the regular Buy one time price.
    but the S&S is the same lower price, only one option.

    so what's the point of the Deal price, nobody is paying that. everyone is S&S the lower price and cancel it later.

    sneaky thing is recently they send out PSA that all S&S won't be 10% off anymore, it can be any % less than that. so that's how it works I guess, can't get the 10% off "Deal price" with S&S. and the Deal price is almost meaningless. fake deal!

    also what I keep forgetting and learning.

    because it is just like Black friday week, Prime day sales lasts 1~2 weeks, the sale/deals come out slowly.

    meaning there is no point waiting on the countdown (still managed to trick me this year, thinking everything possible to go on sale will be a sale price from day1). need to check a week later to see everything on sale.

      ACCC is there to protect us consumers, although it may not do the best job - We are right to have entitlement given we are the ones paying for a product. If you think companies should just have free reign with no limitations because its a 'free market' or whatever, then I really just have one question for you - how does the boot taste?

      This is simply not true. Amazon is the retailer you are buying from. They are 1000000% responsible for sales and warranty.

        That's not how marketplaces work according to ACCC. Amazon doesn't set the price or handle warranty of items sold by third parties.

          Again, thats not completely true. If you're buying from amazon, their internal business practices are none of your concern.
          Retail is retail.

          BTW the ACCC isn't the law. They're a dud regulator that can't help anyone (its not in their remit). If you have issues - contact Fair Trading in your State or Territory.
