  • I am finally going to buy this now seems right buy in 2026

    • They're awesome for the price. Though I only use the front 2 speakers in stereo mode.

  • I would get this but my z5500 system still works.
    Touch wood.

Thanks for sharing OP, good recommendation.

    • I remember buying my first set of z5500 for $299 delivered in 2010. It was an absolute steal at the time. Great HTIB for the money.

    • Mine is from 2011 and needs to be powered off and on again every couple of months as the power button stops working. Otherwise it's still going strong.
      The remote is cactus.

    • I'm still using Z-680's from the very early 2000's and they still sound good!

    • Me too! long live the z5500

(but iv since had to buy a USB to DAC converter for 60 bux to use it on my new rig)

  • this one gives you thump thump thump but not good high and mid range. Still sound OK overall.

  • I wish this had HDMI passthrough and could do modern surround formatted. I use the old z-5500 on my tv but you are stuck with optical and DD and DTS

  • I'm gobsmacked they're still selling these! I'm still using a secondhand z906 I bought for $200 in 2016 in the bedroom, and the big arsed z5500 from wayyy before that.
