  • You need to be a CPA member, right?

    • Yes appears to be targeted only to CPA and CA members. When I tried to sign up and was asked for CPA or CA membership number and couldn't proceed without entering this information.

  • Look at the rates and fees section

It says 7 days interest free, but you’re paying a 1.7% (+GST) txn fee. So it’s effectively an annualised interest rate of 88.6% (+GST) :|

The sign-up bonus looks good if you’re planning to churn, but it’s a hard pass on the working capital front.

  • Can't see what the minimum spend is for the sign on bonus 100k points, anyone found?

    • I think it is $15K over 3 months?

    • "Offer only available to new Octet Members who apply by 31 December 2026, are approved and spend $15,000 on eligible purchases on their new Octet facility in the first three (3) months from the approval date" - so around $255 plus GST of transaction fees to pay, plus the credit assessment, and make sure you repay all the transactions within 7 days before interest kicks in

  • The catch is $15,000 min spend in 3 months. Also requires a Qantas or Virgin Business Account:

    The main conditions are:

You must be a new Octet Member
You are ineligible if you currently hold, or have held, any Octet product in the past 18 months.
You must apply by 31 December 2026
The “$100k pre-approval” is only indicative and non-binding. Octet can still decline you, approve a lower limit, or withdraw/vary the offer. The live page also describes it as a “pre-approved $100,000 unsecured credit limit,” but subject to the fine print.
You must spend $15,000 in the first 3 months
The spend must be on eligible purchases using the new Octet facility. Fees and charges do not count.
The listed transaction fee is 1.70% + GST. On $15,000 of eligible spend, that is about $255 + GST = $280.50 in transaction fees, assuming the whole $15,000 attracts that fee.
You need the relevant business rewards account
For Qantas, the business must be a Qantas Business Rewards member. For Velocity, the business must be a Virgin Australia Business Flyer member.
    You wait for the bonus
The 100,000 bonus points are awarded 8–10 weeks after the spend criteria has been met, following the first 3 months from approval.
You may need to keep earning points for 12 months
This is a slightly unusual clause: “To retain the benefits of this offer, Members must continue earning their respective Qantas Points or Velocity Points in which the bonus points were awarded within the first 12 months of membership period.” That suggests you may need ongoing eligible activity in the first year to keep the benefit, though the exact consequence is not clear from the pasted wording.

So the practical “catch” is: you are paying roughly $280.50 in fees to unlock 100,000 points, but only if you are approved, are genuinely new to Octet, spend $15,000 within 3 months, and comply with their ongoing loyalty terms. The deal could still be attractive if you already have $15,000 of eligible business payments to make, but it is not a no-cost signup bonus.

    • looks like it's designed to discourage churning, and you'd have to keep the facility for at least 4 months, and there are enough wriggle room for them not to give you the bonus unless you continue to use them and pay their fees regularly. will pass

      • The options I can think of are:

        Option 1 - Octet - spend $15k within 3 months with $280.50 Fee for 100,000 Qantas points
Option 2 - NAB Qantas Business Signature Card - spend $10k within 90 days with $295 Annual card fee for 150,000 bonus Qantas Points

Hands down NAB Credit Card is a better option
