I've converted to the Kirkland 36pk yellow ones for general use, really nice quality and still economical if you can get ebay code, still more per ea than these though.

I got for $28 recently there was 20% off code or something. Less than $1/ea and they last way longer and clean way better. But still use the cheap ones for really dirty jobs where they get ruined.

That's the microfibre bit. It makes it much better for cleaning and makes them dry faster than conventional towels. I agree it's an unpleasant sensation though.

I've got the Aldi ones, they've been working well for me. Pack is lasting me ages, I probably need to clean more frequently.

The Aldi ones are so handy. The box, right? I was washing them but I realized for the price I will just use fresh ones and buy a new box.

For most microfibre cloth applications you want them clean and free of dust and dirt, so re-using them wasn't ideal.

@theguyrules: Washing them in cold water (or up to 40C is also OK) without fabric softener works very well,, as a general rule

The quality is hit and miss..I think the left overs of different specs are out in the 1kg bags. I've got 3 bags and they're different.
Would recommend going instore to buy the 1kg bags so you can sort through.

Bowden's big green sucker when on sale

The twisted sucker pro often goes on sale too and is made from twisted loops which is the newest trend in microfibre drying towels. I love my big green sucker but have read that the twisted loops are much better. Have just ordered a M22 Liquid8r from The Rag Company, but at a higher cost than the twister sucker when on sale

I used to use these (OP) microfibres, but they are small and I feel like they start wearing thin very quickly. Fine for wiping up spills in the kitchen but not much else.
I then got on to these and they feel MUCH better. They are a bit bigger (40x40) but feel a lot bigger than the other ones. Weight also better. Price ok for what you get, if you want cheap stuff then buy the OP's.

see them all the time at bunnings in a giant box. not sure what normal price is.
but most of these are polyester and if you don't wash them carefully with mesh bag and gentle temperature they start shedding pretty quickly. and once they start they get wose and worse and worse. noticeable under bright light like the sun or headlamp or flashlight.
says 20% nylon but I think nylon is too strong so if too much nylon they can scratch transparent surface.
idk not an expert on microfibre but anyone know a cloth brand that doesn't scratch but also lasts the longest before shedding?

bro is washing his $6.50 microfibres… I use one to clean car parts, throw it out.. get a fresh one to wipe my hands and then throw that out too!

wow ok wasteful. I use mine for wiping surfaces mostly. don't even use them for cleaning glass.
they can survive couple dozen washes easy. but if you are wiping oil from car parts you probably can't wash that out.
don't get me wrong liek everyone else idgaf if it ends up on 3rd world beaches or a seal chokes on it. but I like to use what I buy as much as possible before throwing out no matter how cheap it cost. i'm a brokie.
fixed my Sony ULT wear too they snapped but otherwise working.

but maybe we should all worry about waste a little bit? as I said not environmentalist but I do find it odd that we can cram our bins full of trash, and next day a truck comes and picks it all up and it basically "disappears".
I mean how long can we keep this illusion. how trash is something that we don't have to care of worry about at all. have you seen the movie idiocracy.

Not intended as an enviro scold, but be aware that these are a massive source of microplastics - in the water drained from the washing machine, in any environment you use them, and in any clothing you wash them with. I use them so I'm a bit of a hypocrite, but I'm not buying any more.

yes I can confirm that. after about 100 washes probably, when they have finished drying under the sun, or if I grab a dry one from the basket with a headlamp on my head. i can see hundreds of tiny super short hair like strands that come off the microfibre cloth and just float into the air.
that told me to get rid of them. they will probably just settle on dust inside the house, and break down even further into tiny pieces you can't even see, and breath them in.
also I hear the smallest microplastic particle can pass through your blood brain barrier, that is where most microplastics detected in humans autopsy btw they end up there from your blood and add up. so brain is like a filter for them.
also biggest source of microplastics found in human in this modern world is clothing btw. but I guess microfibre cloth and bedding also applies to this category. I have been avoiding polyester (especially recycled polyester) and moving to cotton even though it costs more.
