I believe this is an ATL for this android e-reader.
I've tried several alternatives but always come back to the Palma for the form factor, and much better QOL than the Xteink devices (Which are still fantastic for their price).

Reading, namely, but since it runs android, you can install whatever you like; i enjoy NYT games on this to wind down before bed
If this had a calling module it would be a direct replacement to your phone, without youtube/tiktok/etc
but I guess it didn't
The pro version is a phone, with a color eink screen
unfortunately it is not - it has sim card only for the internet, not for the calls
so you would have to carry another phone to make calls.
Some people said you can jailbreak and install the phone app and be able to make calls, but not receive calls.
If you really need Eink phone (like I do) the only real option is Bigme HiBreak
I have an XTEINK X3 which I use for OTG reading. It's a great device but do wish it had support for the Amazon Kindle app as use a Kindle Paperwhite for reading at home.
jailbreak your kindle install koreader and you can sync your reading progress between them
annoyingly if on recent firmware it is extremely difficult to impossible to do at the moment. Considering switching to a boox/kobo for my main now so i can have koreader.
Are you running crosspoint or crossink? Both support sync w koreader, but I found the %index feature was much more useful. I just sync my x4 at the beginning of the day to whatever % is showing on my kindle. Doesn’t need any koreader breaking, simple,a do always gets me within 1-2 pages at the most.

I got mine from Aliexpress. USB was locked but flashing crosspoint was still pretty easy to do with the online booter. It's pretty a cool device and handy to just keep in your pocket all the time. Really depends on how much of a reader you are. I think it really benefits people that don't read much and haven't built that habit. The biggest issue I have is no backlight, regularly find myself in scenarios I want to read it but it is too dark. Definitely a consideration. Apparently there is a new model coming soon taht will have a back light but battery life will definitely be a downgrade with that.

Love mine! X4. Bought from aliexpress. Like ONEMariachi you cannot flash Crosspoint with USB cable but it isn't hard to do (I think I did the microSD method). Look up a video on how to change the language as it comes in Chinese. I'm actually switching to this from my Kindle as main device - but I am a dinosaur and never adjusted to the touch screen on the new Kindles (small hands/can't hold Kindle comfortably in one hand for a long time without inevitably fatfingering the screen). The only shame is no backlight. I wish it would integrate with Libby too for library ebooks, but Kindle also doesn't so no loss in functionality there.
I used google translate on my phone to change the language when it arrived in Chinese lol. Worked a charm
love my X4.. got two (kids kept sealing mine), one from official site and one from AliExpress, night before they started selling them ‘locked’.
Just so easy to keep in pocket and read anytime. I got a ulanzi magsafe light for reading at night.
Easy to get books from online sources, drag drop using sd card or send wirelessly from laptop or phone.

Recently got a kobo and now read so much more than before. Highly recommend e-reader as a way to get off doom scrolling. This runs Android so Libby / Kindle apps should work?

the screen
There's probably a few advantages:
- e-ink screen might be less fatiguing to read
- longer lasting between charges due to screen technology (and if you're not running a lot of background apps)
- Less distractions as you're not being bugged by notifications from social media etc
If only it was a phone :(
I am using HI Reader Pro which I got back in 2024. It does not receive any updates, runs Android 11, and has 4GB of RAM. Should I upgrade to this? I use this to run Kindle app 99.9% of the time. I like this form factor much better than Kindle. So should I change to this?

It's an interesting buy this one. You're paying more than double vs the base Kindle ($149 atm) to gain android access (so KO reader, libby and any other reader you want really) which is a win, but is it worth $240 more? The size difference is not heaps. 159 x 80 (Palma) vs 157.8 x 108.6 (Kindle). So only roughly an inch wider for the kindle.
Seems really steep to me if you really just want to read some books.
It is definitely an expensive product that I wouldn't recommend for your average reader, but the difference is worth paying for me on account of a few things
Very fair points. Tbh personally I’d rather spend the $150 extra and up it to the palma 2 pro to get colour and writing abilities myself.
I’ve personally never had any issue holding my kindle paperwhite at night for reading. Though yeah it is annoying to get books onto it using calibre. I have a xteink and man it’s so much easier popping a tonne of books on it.
you are paying double not for Android - there are cheaper Android readers out there.
But you are paying for "nearly"-phone-like experience.
So they actually compete with phones, and specifically with Bigme HiBreak (which is an actual phone, while this cannot make calls unfortunately).
If this was a real phone, I'd definitely buy it to replace my regular android smartphone. But don't want to have to carry both of them at the same time.
