Prejudice
Nonsensical
ba hahaha thats great
Uneducated
Wowowowow. Just got Geely
Geesus! All the best.
Wow, not the type of car I'd want to take out a loan on.
MG has 10 years warranty including battery if serviced by MG dealers
What's there to service on an EV?
Your dignity
Champagne comedy champ!
I am glad you are proud of the vroom vroom noises your car makes. 😄
Every 2 years: Change the brake fluid & cabin air filter. Check that everything else is in good condition. Every 4 years: change the motor & battery coolant and gearbox oil.
Not much, and they charge a lot for it. But the combination of free roadside assistance and long warranty if serviced to schedule makes it an ok proposal.
If you don't care about roadside assistance and warranty: just keep driving until a tyre blows or the brake fluid has absorbed enough moisture to cause an accident that writes off the car.
Probably hard for some people to hear, but the S5 drives incredibly well, it's based off the MG4's rear wheel drive platform.
It's quick, smooth, quiet, low maintenance, cheap to run, 10-year warranty and 15K cheaper than a Petrol RAV4.
Will it depreciate faster? Absolutely. Will it cost 10x less to run if you can charge at home? Also yes.
Had a look based on your comment. Been 3 years since I test drove an MG but yes they certainly have come far in a short amount of time.
own the essence , absolutely fun to drive on the rain , very safe stable and lots less annoying with MG pilot. lot better built quality and drive than the rental MG Petrol generation. choosing this over BYD and other Chinese caused it the best valued RWD EV with More established Chinese Dealerships , LFP battery and it's great bottom to start outrageous depreciation of EVs. if more space needed , get the Mg S6Evs also with great value .
any thoughts from the ozbargain brains trust on the MG S6. Had a test drive some weeks back and was really impressed. Long range over 500km too, although it requires a NMC rather than LFP battery pack so some faffing about with mainly 80% charging.
its too new, like a few months old so you probably the first to drive it
it seems to me to be an upsized S5 so whatever you see in an s5 should be the same here
but in reality there's not much to contemplate… choose your color and ask if you need 4wd for $6k
that's it
i went thru the brochure and its what you'd expect for a $50k quasi lux boat - for $50k there's a lot of competition in the EV SUV space but i think MG will struggle as they have the reputation for being the 'cheap' option…. you sell so many MG3s that's what you get
S6 looks great and great value, only problem I can see with it is no OTA updates, but that might not be a terrible thing, as it means no risk of an OTA update that bricks your car (it can presumably still be updated at the dealer as part of its regular servicing).
Worth looking at the new model Xpeng G6 for similar money (a bit more $$) if you want a similarly priced comparison point.
i'm completely ok with no OTA
it means President XI cant brick my car… i need to get to cennalink ndis support and the pokies and colesworth like any good aussie and no chinaman is gonna stop me
you got fuccen 10yrs of expensive service to get updates
We've had one for 2 weeks now. Could have negotiatioted further but we needed a car. Paid 49.5 with silver paint and mats driveway. Drives very well, loads of space (like a lot…). We have just been charging with granny charger and tried tesla supercharger once which we thought was quite rapid.
We picked it because it was the only one with normal door handles and physical buttons for aircon, volume etc. It's not the one to pick for tech people, but it was for wife and kids that prioritised simplicity.
The main downside is the UI is a bit slow. Not terrible, but slow. No OTA was also a seller for us because we had a friend locked out of their Volvo for hours because of an OTA while they were out with kids.
very hard to find the range of this EV model on their website
Really? You must not be very good. Took 1 minute to find.

How about a good forking?
they just announced today an update for S5 with a more powerful motor 150kwh versus 125kwh on the current model. not sure whether this deal applies to that also because the MG website still has the old specs listed. https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/2026-mg-s5-ev-prices-e…
They are SOO DESPERATE to sell these right?
everyone is desperate to sell
you dont sell you dont eat
did you not do basic economics at school?
needing to sell is one thing. Getting on your knees is another.
if a car salesman has to get on their knees to sell a car i'm all for it…
dunno why you wanna lap their balls but you do you
@tonyjzx: wow, good one.. Why are you are so desperate to defend them lmao
why would anyone want to defend them. It's like you've taken things personally. Are you a sad owner of one of these cars?
I'm just making an observation - they give out incentive after incentive, thus appear desperate as h to sell.
A few interesting fees on the 0% finance:
Establishment Fee $499
Account Keeping Fee $15 per month ($540 over the life of the loan)
Origination Fee Up to a maximum of $1395
https://cdn.intelligencebank.com/au/share/BP7V/AEvN1/rbDRg/o…
So you'd be paying $2,434 in fees - which on a $30,000 loan over 3 years, is equivalent to a 2.77%pa interest rate. My math could be wrong here.
Higher than 2.74% as you pay some off each year, final year balance is only on the last $10k
Geely does the same thing with their pseudo 0.88% loans. Why can't they just play fair…
It says No Establishment or Account Keeping fees on their website. Need to check how much is the origination fee, though.
There's gotta be a catch here (aside from buying an MG, I mean).
🗑️
So they're clearing the S5 as the MG4X is the same size and new model about to land?
S5 has had a very short manufacturing run if so.
so, it is $1400 in security and origination fees.

So is the payback for the S5 roughly $270 a week? Isn't terrible I guess
$269.17 + fees to be exact . I asked Google AI to calculate. not bad fro brand new car for next 3 years than trade in for next and better EVs as EVs tech and batteries will get so old just after 2-3 years .
