Bose do well with noise-cancelling headphones. Are they reference-grade audiophile cans? Nope. But they’re really good at noise cancelling and have an all-round pleasant sound.
I was ready to dismiss them too, based off Bose speaker systems being overpriced and underwhelming. But the headphones really nail the brief (I have the QC25s).
That said, I never use them at home in a quiet room. I have better cans for that. But for travel and for cutting down on background noise, I can’t fault them.
I use these for all day long and for gym as well. its so comfy and highly recommended at this price point.
People verdict is that ANC in sony is better than the BOSE. But bose does pretty good job.
I have the QC45 and the NC700. In my opinion, the NC700 is way better in terms of sound quality and similar noise cancellation. However, the QC45 is more portable than the NC700, but I haven't used both for a long time.
These are king for comfort and anc but the pads split after about a year. Luckily easy and cheap fix to replace them
I have been using them(QC 35s their previous version) since last 10 years, These are the best pair of headphones I ever bought. They are very comfortable i wear glasses, it doesn’t bother me even after 5-6 hours continuous use.
Very reliable and it’s still going strong they just refuse to die. Only battery capacity has came down, that’s it.
Got these a couple years ago at about this price. Had always wanted but couldn't bring myself to pay so much for 'just some fancy headphones'.
Would buy again in a heartbeat. Best headphones I've owned by far.
Wear them everyday and always with noise cancelling on. They are great for blocking out machine noise, E.g. airplanes, microwave/rangehood noise when cooking.
The ear pads wore down over time with use, which is to be expected. I replaced DIY with genuine Bose pads for about $40.
are these as good as the bose QC 45's?
my gf has these, and I can't justify moving to them from my QC35s. These are practically the same as my 35s, just a USB-C port - which is more convenient - but not 245 bucks convenient.
Unless the battery in your 45s is gone, I'd just stick with the 45s. Otherwise the replaceables are still cheaper e.g. earcup padding
And the QC35s perform basically the same as the QC25s, apart from being wireless and having a built-in battery.
My QC25 + Eneloop combo still has some life in it yet. I see no reason to upgrade.
Yeah I was happy with the QC35s for a couple of years, until I couldn't resist QC45 for $250, and then the next year grabbed a QC SC deal for $164.
The QC SC and 45 can use the Bose app, which has an Equalizer where you can adjust Bass, Mid and Treble to your preference - not hugely, but enough to make a noticeable difference.
The Bose app also supports selectable multi-point connections to more easily switch between two sources, e.g., my phone and my laptop.
While the QC35 may have had 2 NC options of High, Low (and Off), the QC SC and 45 seem to have 3 modes - Outdoor, Aware, Quiet - the 3rd extra 'quiet' mode seems to add an extra little bit of noise-cancelling that I like.
The advantage of wired headphones is that I can just EQ at the source (all my DAPs have robust equalisers). And switching sources is as easy as swapping a cable. I'm not sold on wireless yet.
@axyh: Sure - do what works for you - one downside of Bluetooth is a processing delay - maybe a 1/4 second, which definitely causes a noticeable mismatch with visible lip movements when watching videos of someone talking
And the quality may not be as hi-fi, but I like to be able to walk around and travel without a cable I used to accidentally knock out when swinging my arm naturally when out walking, when I had the source device in my side pocket.
i got the Hardcase version of these from the Kmart deal and have been using them for a while now. ANC is great and battery life hasnt been a problem.
I've got a big head and these are extremely comfortable especially with the larger ear cups than the Sony's.

My Xm3's are end of life after multiple batteries, earcups etc and many years of use. Replaced them with Soundcore Space One Pro's but the white model has a peeling issue on the headband (doesn't seem to be an issue with the Black ones my partner has). Blacks Space One Pro's are $185 Delivered, so I am down between those, the Sennheiser Momentum 4's and the Quietcomfort QC's.
My dad has QC45's and they never did much for me, but maybe I would like them with more time spent. Am leaning towards the Momentums, but unsure.
Edit: Decided to give the Momentum's a shot. Seems these are a better bet if NC is a priority.
Momentum 4s are great for sound, not so much for ANC. I had random connection issues where they would be sitting disconnected and randomly connect to my phone and then drain my battery. Ended up being a reluctant return.
Prior to that I had xm3s and then got the QC 35s on marketplace for cheap. I ended up preferring the QC 35s. I'm looking at the new QC as a replacement for my return money for the momentum 4s.
Hopefully I don't have the same connection issues. If I do I guess this headphone buying and returning saga will continue. Thanks for the feedback.

Absolutely. I've owned both.
dunno 'bout you but I found SONY headphones too shallow in the earcups and my big ears would rub painfully on the bottom/inside surface so that was a NO from me. I'd suggest trying them on in a shop to check for that before ordering off the internet.
For similar price, Sony will be better option over this Bose QC.

They are better, they are also nearly double the price. I just went a different direction, but could swing up to $250, $300 at a stretch at the moment. $468 is a whole different price bracket.
The gen1 are also a good option for $378. They are the sweet spot between the QC and the ultra 2

I had the 1st gen qc35 and upgraded to the ultra and I just don't find it as comfy as the qc35 and the only issue of the qc35's wasn't address: poor longevity of the soft materials which would start breaking down after a year or two.
So if you aren't super anal about superior ANC, I would buy this one.

Are these any good for gaming or is it mostly for music?
I've used them for gaming for the past year and like the game sounds. But I do only use them for singleplayer games. And the mic quality is adequate for a work meeting, but if you're thinking of streaming no way.

Bose QC headphones are famous for being the most comfortable for the most hours - I wear mine on 10-hour flights no problem, and with the best noise-cancelling (you want on a long-haul flight), and fine audio quality.
I have a much more expensive pair of open-back headphones that I've shelved simply because I don't have a quiet room in my shared environment, and I always want NC to be able to enjoy my listening without being disturbed by ambient noises.

if connect to Android tablet( Lenovo tab and Samsung s10), sound constantly dropped off even BT was connected, had to reconnect from BT. So annoying.
Try few methods from Google and raddit, no improvement at all.
Firmware update is done, latest os Android, re- pair was done . Same issue,
But this headphone works fine on Apple, no issue at all. lol.

Keen to hear the ozbargain brains trust view on these. My daughter wanted these for her birthday to replace a lost pair from some years back. Was struck by the pretty poor battery life, moderate sound quality but good ANC. Got my son the momentum 4s instead for his birthday and have to say that personally found them to be way superior. Much longer battery life, better sound and equivalent ANC as far as I could tell. And also currently featured on ozbargain for a lower price than these
