    I lasted 6 months with my flip before i realised its just a gimmick. 1 spec of dirt and its game over for the screen - no joke, the screen is plastic and a finger nail can dent it.

    Until they can make some stronger screens no way

      I switch from a flip phone like you did. I realised that I don't like any foldables at all.

      I've had the opposite, but I'm the type to not look at my phone when I'm commuting.

      Everything can be done via the outer screen, including music and Google Pay. It's been great so far.

      Not sure what kind of pressure you're applying to your screen, but I play heaps of games on it when I'm at home and I've never had that issue.

        Thinking of a flip for a work phone which I don't use heavily like my personal one. I won't be flipping it open as much so might be suitable for me. Thanks for sharing your experience.

      Yes, the deals are getting worse.
      Rumor has it that the Fold Wide will be priced the same as the old Fold.
      The Fold Ultra, which literally is the upgrade to the previous Fold models, will be more expensive.

      Should go live shortly after the Unpacked event on 22 July 11pm AEST. But its usually better to wait a day or so until everyone works out the best stack of vouchers, promos, trade-in deals, etc. Samsung is hopeless with order changes, so if you forget to add something or miss a promo, you will have to cancel and reorder.

    It would be crap if samsung limit a maximum of 2 vouchers for the new phones, which they have been doing now for items in their store, and this ecovoucher and the evoucher count as the 2 vouchers

    So looking at last year Z Fold and Flip 7

    Fold 7 256gb was $1,6k through EDU store
    Flip 7 512gb was $950 through Harvey Norman x Optus

    Hopefully, the price would still be similar to last year.

      Fold 8 Ultra (successor of Fold 7) is expected to have slightly higher price than Fold 7.
      Fold 8 (the Wide one) is expected to be the cheaper one.

        To be fair their RRP means nothing to most Samsung buyers. They could've reduce the Fold 8 Ultra RRP by $100 but still making it worse deal. I think Harvey Norman x Optus will most likely to give best deal out of Samsung Edu and JB for now. Since JB has increased the ETC to $1.1k now and Samsung Edu has fixed using multiple codes stacking.

        My prediction(or at least I hope it won't be more) we could still get base Fold 8 Ultra for $1.7k, Fold 8 Wide for $1.3k, and Flip 8 for $900. If its worse than this I think the pre-order deals will be a flop.

          Problem is the overall spend i.e. the Eco Voucher compels us to buy the Accessories also which means we end up spending more. For example, last year I bought Fold7 for $1,594.29 but had to spend $417.53 on Watch 8 as well to make the deal good. Else Fold7 alone would cost $200 more. Though getting a watch by spending ~$200 more wasn't a bad deal, but not everyone wants a new watch every year.

      Hopefully they bring back the hidden camera instead of the hole punch on the inner display next year considering they recently settled their patent dispute over them. Will probably skip this generation and wait for that. I wouldn't be surprised if everything they release this year is overpriced by a significant margin looking at how they've spiked prices across their other SKUs (even taking global memory and storage price increases out of the equation).

        My point is Samsung use to offer early committer a big discount as incentive.

        Like I said without the big launch discount, I will just wait for a Harvey Optus contract deal. Is not like I am desperate for a new fold phone, and I doubt anyone is!

    What are the chances Harvey Norman will have Flip 8 for $0 on a $69 x 24 month plan?

    They just released the motorola razr 70 Ultra 5G 256GB - PANTONE Orient Blue RRP $1799 pre order, but that phone is $0 on a $69 x 36 month plan.

    I have the feeling Harvey Norman might be adding these phones on 36 month plan now

      I am sure Samsung Fold/Flip 8 series deals will not be as good as Motorola deals due to more interest in Samsung devices. S26U was a different story as it hasn't sold well in Australia thats why had better deals. Example is JB Hifi still selling last year's S25U at for $1,537 whereas S26U price dropped pretty quickly to $1,799.
      But let us wait and see how the deals come out for 8 series.
