We are on this exact plan, started a few days ago. No noticeable difference between this and the 50/20 we were on previously. Two person household. Love paying only $30! There seems to be about a one or two second longer delay on the TV with a fuzzy picture when watching 4K feeds on YouTube and Paramount+ than there was previously. Not annoying tho.

I run a VPN & server at home, and need remote access into my IT. There are ways to achieve this by other means, (DDNS, Tailscale, Rustdesk etc) but I try to avoid 'bolt ons' when I can, by using VPN server etc, so try to get a static IPv4 (or at least a 'sticky' non-static IPv4), which Spintel gives me.
@wmxc: No, the clanker is incorrect. Amaysim doesn't offer static IP, but they don't use CGNAT either. This essentially means you will have a unique IP, and you can connect to your home network from an external network.
You can make this easier if you use a dynamic DNS service to assign a URL to your home IP. I do the same with my current ISP. So you can absolutely do all that stuff that Claude thinks you can't.
OTOH I can't find any information about whether they block ports, but I assume that means they don't.

I had a terrible experience with Amaysim. Their connection keeps cutting down. Now I switched to Origin and way much better.
I had the worse with origin, their network was so congested. Samsung live TV wouldn’t even load channels.
Amaysim isn’t great but ended up back with them, origin was THAT bad

Superloop is better when it comes to international routing, on another hand Optus isn’t great with international routing, high latency and higher jitter.
Superloop is better, you get 60ms-80ms less than Optus network.

Nope. FTTB and churned about two months ago from Leaptel on the 6 months @$50 deal. I cannot feel any difference between Leaptel and Amaysim. I'm surprised about it. We stream 4k, work from home, kids on YouTube… The only thing we don't do is online gaming so can't comment on that.
I imagine they're NBN outages and not ISP related… I had the same thing last week during the rain and winds

It's expensive because the wholesale price is so high. Even at that price they're probably making $10 per month off you. If you only need a slow speed then maybe getting a mobile plan and tethering an old phone would be better for you. Depends how much data you use per month. If you're a casual email type person then a $25 mobile plan with like 40 or 50gb might get you by.
This deal at $30 for 6 months is a winner by far in my books. Only thing better than this is getting the occasional free month from different providers, but they don't come around very often. $180 for 6 months NBN is awesome. It does the job.
Does anyone know if, after switching, we need to contact our existing ISP (Southern Phone) to cancel the service? Also, will they provide a partial refund for the unused portion of the last billing cycle?
Most ISPs have a 30 day cancellation policy. I have generally managed to cancel immediately after some arguing with their "retention" teams.
Unless they state that 30 days notice is required, then not required. Most don't, some do.

Unfortunately this is just how ISPs work now. You just have to churn to a new one every 3-6 months in order to pay a normal price.

really considering to switch back to ABB… Internet ping to the server I am playing on changed from stable 35ms to 106ms. and it seems that torrent traffic is also getting affected. ABB had no problems with speeds or ping.
do Amaysim block any ports to prevent you from running servers on your nbn connection?
If you are going to run an open plex server they might not like that.

Most NBN FTTP are pretty stable until you have a problem and then it's a pain in the ass. The reality is that no one can tell you one way or another because its dependent on your area. You could probably move to Leaptel / Aussie BB / Superloop for less than $80 and be fairly confident you'll get decent service though - unless you hate moving between ISPs and playing the "get a discount every 6 months" game.

Has anyone had issues churning over from More/ABB? my internet disconnected from More around 5am 12th July, Amaysim say there is an issue with a few activations and are investigating it.
I'm hoping they will have it sorted tomorrow as i dont want to be out of internet for another day.

Another NTP port isnt a transfer, its a "New" connection surely. Did you provide them your MORE AVC which would confirm current connection (Port) to use…assuming you were porting over?
I provided More AVC initially but apparently as More has disconnected the service, the NBN holds the port for 24 hours. I asked to activate a new connection on port 2, which is currently inactive and has never been used, instead but the representative said that they are unable to activate it on any port other than 1.
@calush16: Ah, that makes sense, thanks for sharing. Yeah the hassle if connection is disconnected before the transfer.
Recommended (futurewise) Set the transfer to always be a day or two before current expires, That way ensures line is still active.
Port 2: Perhaps speak to a supervisor as there shouldn't be any reason that can't activate on "UNI-D 2". They can easily retrieve the port numbers from NBNCo based on your address. Good Luck with getting sorted.
FYI for anyone considering the $50 500/50 plan, it looks to have an earlier expiry date of 17th July, compared to 27th for 25/10 and 750/50 plans.

Currently, I'm on FTTP with Superloop on port 1. To avoid any potential connection down time, I requested Amaysim to use port 2 for my new NBN service. But they said they can't as it has to be port 1. Anyone experience any down time during during the switch over to Amaysim from your current NBN provider like Superloop? Any suggestion to avoid potential down time during switch over to Amaysim?
What reason did they give for not allowing port 2 i.e. as a second account. I've have both running in the past without issue (different providors). Request that your service be provisioned on Port 2 (or UNI-D 2) or whatever your port is named. Should be a simple task for them.
I too had 2 different providers previously on Port 1 and 2. Now Amaysim is saying if I'm switching from any provider, then they/NBN have to provision on the same current Port 1. Sounds like BS to me.
That may well be true. You are not switching if setting up on unused Port 2, you are setting up an new account for it. Let them know this.
The "AVC" is required if moving provider on active Port1 which will be on your current bill. This confirms address etc and they use this at time of switching, but not required for inactive Port2

@I Smell Pennies: Amaysim said that since I indicated that I'm switching provider when I signed up online, the default provision will be on Port 1. There is no option on the system for them to select provision on Port 2 as my connection date is in August. The work around is to call them a day prior to connection date to request for immediate connection, then they may be able to select Port 2.
