Made this iOS app myself for my children to stop Youtube Shorts doomscrolling and any unwanted video or channel on iPad (or iPhone) as I can't find anything in similar size (tiny 800kb) with clean minimalist UI.
So in brief this is a small Safari web browser extension that strips YouTube Shorts out of the feed, sidebar, search and recommendations, and sends any Shorts link to the normal player. It features:
1) Passcode Lock - so your kids will not be able to alter your settings.
2) Whitelist / Blocklist - block any brian-rot / AI slop video by word(s) (e.g. title or channel name).
3) Lightning fast - tiny app size and barely noticeable runnning in the background.
Heads up: it's a Safari extension, so it only works on YouTube in Safari. You should delete standalone YouTube app and pairs with "Screen Time" parental control, so kids can only watch Youtube thru Safari. The "Screen Time" control will also disable any attempt to remove the extension, so kids must watch "filtered" and clean Youtube thru Safari.

FINAL NOTE to end-user:
1) After seeing those comments about different ways to bypass Youtube Shorts, my comment is: the whole purpose of this Safari extension is for FULL parental control with hard passcode lockdown on iPad. In other words, all Youtube watching are funnelled thru Safari and there is NO way for kids to turn off parent's hard lockdown setting.
2) For those mentioned about Brave Browser or other methodology, they are IRRELEVANT in this context, as there is no hard lockdown involved i.e. kids can still alter parent's setting.
3) The extension is free of charge and has no subscription or whatsoever. I have no intention to make any profit from it. As a father of three, I create this app for my family and put it up on OZB for those in need. That said, introducing a small fee of $1.99 after the free promotion period is not unreasonable. Earning a modest return for the time and effort invested should not be viewed negatively.
