              @hothot: Have a look at covau website for your address. Rates look decent for me. I am with flow power and covau has 50 cents more supply charge but also has free 3 hours window which will be handy to fill the battery. Also three hour export window for 30kw at 15 cents so almost works out equal with flow power 2 hours and half full battery

    Bit unclear what's offerred here:

    Is this a rebate offer on top of a VPP plan with Cov Au? Would we be put on a plan similar to what they offer if we enter our address here, but with the free electricity window between 11-2pm? https://www.covau.com.au

    How long are we suppose to be on the plan to get the rebate before we switch?

    oh interesting i have a 15kW inverter and 40kw sofar battery already installed.

    so whats the order of how to take advantage of this? I can change to CovaU solar max and then join the covau vpp and then get the rebate credited to my banks tatement>

      the rate is similar to solarmax, but you get unlimited electrcity 11am - 2pm plus cash rebate.

      The rebate is from government not them, you sign up to their vpp. They earn export credits and it can take a while for the rebate to be processed. I join Amber's vpp, the whole process until I got the money in my bank account was well over 3 months. Also only got just over $1k for a 28kw battery so the people who did the claim may have taken a cut too.

        25kwh battery VPP rebate is $1200 and 30kwh is $1470. we don't cut any fee in there.
        The most recent rebate was received about 1 week time, the process speed would depend on the goveronment funding system.
        some VPPs force the battery to discharge during peak hours, with CovaU can you choose not to export any.

        So my 42kw fox will get a decent amount too? Amber had my battery ineligible for rebate for VPP as they capped it at 28kw

        Also, building a house and spending $2000 to create a 1x1m recess for battery. Looks like EP11 is not taking much space. How much 40-50kw will cost? I imagine a whole wall will be covered with batteries in parallel?

    You have full control to your battery, you don't need to discharge any battery during peak hours

    This is interesting. Doesn't having full control over my battery kind of take away the point of the VPP?

        5.1 By joining our VPP Program, you expressly authorise us to remotely access and control your
        Battery at any time during the VPP Services Term for the purposes of the VPP in accordance
        with this clause 5.

        Our Charge and Discharge rights
        5.2 You agree that we and/or our contracted VPP Platform provider may Charge or Discharge
        part or all of your Battery at any time as needed to support the VPP objectives (provided we
        do not arbitrarily cycle your Battery constantly), which may include:
        (a) during a VPP Event, sending a control signal to your Battery to Discharge in order to
        help supply energy at times of peak demand or national electricity grid instability;

            @AusSolar: When you phone them they say they have sole control over the battery and they will discharge the battery whenever they see fit and you cannot turn it off or export when you want to do so.

      I think you can look at the rates for your address on covau website. They are just offering the battery rebate. Maybe better to sign up with a referral if choosing to do so without the battery rebate if you don't qualify

          Finally got a response. Pretty much rates from covau website with $980 rebate. Hopefully it gets processed and I get that amount then I can decide whether to stay or move

            @Royale with cheese: I asked Covau directly and seems it the same deal so no idea what the benefits of going via this unrelated solar company is. Negative of this deal seems no cash out from excess credit but my supply charge is very low (97c vs 1.55 for GloBird) so will see how it goes

    I phoned them and the rates are rather reasonable in Essential Energy with the daily supply charge not dissimilar to AGL. The 0c feed-in tariff outside of 5pm to 9pm is a non-starter for me, however. Where I live we get a lot of sun through most of the year and receiving that feed-in tariff throughout the day is worth a lot more to me than the 3 free hours. I guess I'll sign up, claim the VPP rebate and then go elsewhere.

      I just read the terms and conditions.

      9.8 Solar Credits may only be applied against amounts payable by you under your Market Retail Agreement or Standard Retail Agreement. Solar Feed-in Tariff Credits:
      a. Are not transferable to another person, account or premises;
      b. Cannot be redeemed, refunded or exchanged for cash; and
      c. have no value except as expressly provided under this Agreement.

      We are not obliged under any circumstances to pay you any amount of money in respect of Solar Credits.

      9.9 Any Solar Credits remaining on your account at the termination or expiry of this Agreement that have not been applied against amounts payable by you under your Market Retail Agreement or Standard Retail Agreement wil be forfeited and extinguished without compensation to you.

      Our VPP Program Incentives
      We wll provide you with Incentives under our VPP Program, which:

      (a,) will be applied to your CovaU electricity account;
      (b) in respect to Ongoing VPP Credits, billing cycle in the electricity bill that we create for in respect of the completon of your will appear on which the energy Discharged during a VPP Event occurs:
      (c) will reduce the amount you owe (or increase your balance if you are in credit);
      (d) may be subject to GST and, because they reduce your bil generally do not count as taxable income but consult your tax advisor if you have questions): and
      (e) will be the only amounts payable to you as the incentive for participating in our yPP Program.

      The Ongoing VPP Credits and all other credits, of any kind, are not transferable or redeemable as cash. We will maintain records of Discharge and Incentives given and you may also track VPP Event participation and Incentives via any provided app or account portal.

        The VPP payment is a one-off payment from the government, not a feed-in tariff, correct? They are adamant that the normal plans pays 5c feed-in and the VPP plans gets the 3-hours free, you can't get both; apparently.

          I think the main issue is that they wont pay you as a cash refund for credits. I have been constantly getting paid from flowpower for the FiT Credits. Hopefully the VPP Incentive is a payment to the bank account and not another account credit.

          Their VPP Plan has following: (in cents)

          Peak Charge Usage 16:00 – 23:00 40.447/kwh
          Shoulder Charge Usage 14:00 – 16:00, 23:00 – 11:00, 30.800/kwh
          Off Peak Charge Usage | 11:00 – 14:00, 0cents (no cap)
          Daily Supply Charge 98.439

          for the export, 5pm~9pm : 15c/kwh, rest of hours 0cents.

          you get better FiT with Solar Max plan. (50 kwh cap for free hours.)
          15c/kwh 6~9pm for upto 30kwh.
          and all the rest, 5c/kwh.

          Now, I don't export by myself these days anyway just to save to use overnight with heater in each room.
          VPP might export some in some days but still okay for me for now (I will change back to Solar Max plan once I receive the VPP rebate)

              @eminemkh: I first joined CovaU by myself, with Solar Max plan for Power and Freedom for Gas. Some of my friends too.
              I then contacted AusSolar team to move my account to VPP Plan (NSW, VIC only), connecting my Fox battery and plan change was smoothly completed in only few days.

              some of my friends who just contacted CovaU support directly to change the plan to VPP, took more time to get onboard.

              The VPP rebate comes from MACTrades directly to your bank account so I don't see there is any catch. (AusSolar is not going to claim the rebate on your behalf, its you to apply for yourself)

              It may be differ on how much rebate you get in your bank account, depends on different VPP providers as they also get involved in administration fee and/or their cut in this scheme
              and note that rebate is eligible for upto 50kWh batteries but rebate is paid for first 28kWh. (I think Mac trades also get their cut too :) )

                  @eminemkh: Nope you cannot offset gas bill with solar credits unfortunately here in CovaU. (as of now. I don't know if they are going to change this in the future to attract more customers)

                  But anyway for my area, Gas is more cheaper than Globird and even slightly cheaper than AGL so I will just use it. ;)

                  So, Solar credits: cannot cash out/cannot use for Gas bill. You can only use within your electricity account.

        How's your VPP plan going so far?
        Do you have the option to opt out of CovaU discharging your battery, as the rep mentioned in this thread?
        If not, do they discharge your battery to 20% daily during 5-9pm window?
        I was wondering how can I stop them from discharging to flat 20% (42kWh Fox with 10% reserved) as I need more for overnight use.

          No options within CovaU app available to stop the discharge. Unless you actually disconnect your inverter from your wifi before 5pm
          However, I didnt see any single discharge from VPP since I joined. Its been now like 2 weeks but just stable without any discharge from 5pm~9pm.
