  • Is it safer to ask staff to ask the staff at the service desk if they have fresh stock kept behind the counter? I want to avoid the tampered cards.

    • Yes that’s the way to go. In my local they didn’t even put the Apple Cards out on the shelf, all requests were handled by the front desk.

      • oh thanks. I found a typo in my sentence but I can't edit it any more

      • Correct, my local Woolworths just put a sign on the gift card shelf apple area.

    • Or just confirm when you’re buying them that if there’s any issues you’ll bring them back for a refund. My local is always ok with this. I then pop and redeem them right there.

    • Unless you actually watch them unseal a fresh batch of gift cards, I’d still suggest that you tear each one open before you pay so that you can check that the redemption code hasn’t been tampered with.

For all you know the stock they keep at the service desk might have previously been on public display so you can’t always trust it.

  • Does anyone know whether i can use apple gift cards as a payment method to replace my iphone battery at an apple store

    • I think so, and it is better to store it in your account. I lost my apple gc with a remaining balance of $18x.

      • Thanks, i want to actually use it to pay for battery replacement of 2 iphones. Is it ok if i add all the credits into a single phone

      • How did you lose the remaining balance?

        • I put my GC somewhere and I couldn't find it any more lol

    • I did this around 12 months ago and didn’t have any problems. I bought the cards at Woolworths, redeemed them into my Apple account and then used them to pay for my battery replacement when picking up the phone.

      • Thanks for the reply, very helpful. Could i also pls ask how long did they take for the battery replacement? I assume i can collect the phone same day, just wondering whether i need to go home and come back

        • Honestly it was a bit of a muck around dealing with Apple and I was pretty irritated by the process. I first went in there and they ran the diagnostics and confirmed the battery needed replacement. However they didn’t have any batteries in stock so I had to come back a week later. Then when I came back they claimed that my screen was at risk of being damaged while the repair was being done. So they needed to order a new screen (I didn’t have to pay for the new screen but again I had to wait another week) the third time I went in they finally were able to do the repair which was done in probably 1.5 hours.

Bear in mind that this is probably the absolute worst case scenario, most battery replacements should be done within the day. Book your appointment for the morning so you can pickup in the afternoon.

          • @Ipodisclassic: Thanks a lot, very helpful

          • @Ipodisclassic: did you have to remove your cards from the wallet?
seems to be a requirement before you bring your device in: https://support.apple.com/en-au/109519
also freaks me out when it says on the same page, your device may have been erased when you get it back

            • @tdw: I didn’t have to remove any cards from my wallet. However you should absolutely backup your phone to iCloud or to a local PC/Mac before you take it in. The warning is there in the unlikely event they damage/break your phone you’re issued with a new one as replacement. They did make me sign out of iCloud though which I thought was a bit weird, then when I picked it back up they walked me through reactivating iCloud.

    • Yes, you can, just used my balance to pay for a new screen.

      • Thanks

  • Love when these deals come around! I stock up on gift cards in these promos for the iCloud storage and then save my points for Christmas shopping! Thanks OP

  • In the past there was an issue when in an Apple Store with using gift cards which were loaded into you account. Has this been resolved?
I want to get GC for a new phone.

    • You can order online and pick up in store so I’m not sure how there could be an issue.

  • True. Thanks
I had issue years ago. Couldn’t used loaded GC at the Apple Store.

  • Can these gift cards be used to pay for subscriptions in the ios store?

    • I think so if you reload it to your account.

    • Yes but not existing subscriptions.

  • Went to get 3x variable yesterday, they were kept hidden and the newer type sealed in cardboard.
One of them was tampered with, they went to get more and had to go through about 4 or 5 more to get to an untampered one!

    • Which store/city was this?

      • Ivanhoe VIC

    • What do you mean by temper? Has someone open the gift card? Was it not visible from the outside? But when you open the gift card the number has been revealed

  • I cannot see any mention of this offer on their weekly catalogue or on the app. Is this actually happening?

    • It is strange you cannot see any mention of this offer, because:

      • I can see it at the bottom of page 29 of the NSW catalogue. (Which catalogue were you looking at?)

      • The store I visited yesterday had three posters at the gift card shelf advertising this offer.

I bought an Apple gift card yesterday and received 20x bonus points at the checkout, so it is safe to say it is actually happening.

      • Thanks, I could find it on the same page for QLD catelogue

  • I am used to buying these from Coles. The limit per day is $2500 and you get $250 back in Flybuys.

It says for Woolworths it's 10 cards per day. So does that mean I can buy 10 x $500 and get $500 back in rewards points?

    Thanks for any advice.

  • Can we buy these with 4% off Woolworth Gift Cards ?

  • seems like the cards are stored better and the cashiers are trained to check now.
