A hose. All the fancy different towels are so you don't "cross contaminate" while cleaning to try and prevent getting sand and dirt embedded in the cloths and turning them into sandpaper

Does anyone know whether we can wash cars in the driveway and allow water to run on to the road - specially when using soap? the drainage is on our side of the road so it would flow into the drain rather than all over the road.
OR should I move the vehicle to the curb and wash it there so the water will be filtered through the grass before it goes to the drains- 1
do it on the lawn - you aren't meant to let soapy water enter the drains

Well, if you don’t have a lawn, washing your car at home is technically against council rules. The stormwater goes straight to the river, which means only rainwater should be going there, not all the soap and chemicals from our cars.
But honestly, I doubt anyone's gonna call you out unless you're doing it all the time or you're just unlucky having a "good" neighbour.

@life is suffering: Wash at a car wash place. Or wash at a family/friends lawn if they have one.
The soaps can contribute to algae bloom in the river.

The only thing good about this combo is probably the mitt and you can get just as good for under $10. Buckets are cents and this Soap is not worth a damn. If you are washing your car with this soap and bucket, I already know your car is full of micro scratches and swirl marks.

You think 1L $9 soap is premium? LMAO.. This soap is trash. If you have a new car, especially one with ceramic coating, you would not use this.
I pay about $60-$70 for my 4L of proper Ph Neutral soap and thats discount rate for buying 4L at a time.- -3

@Techefy: You obviously know nothing about cleaning a car, and that's fine, but don't pretend you do. Making a laughing question about who would spend that much on soap is you pretending like you know its too much when in reality it really isn't. Go look up brands like Autoglym, NV, Gyeon, Bilt Hamber, you think if all soap was made equal, there would be market for more expensive soaps? You can easily spend like $130+ on 4L-5L soaps. You either don't drive, or drive a crap old car you don't care about obviously. In the car detailing industry, it is a wide known fact, Armor All is a brand you stay away from, their products are very cheap and ruin your car in the long run. It's like the home brand of car washing.

@DannyBoy: That also depends on where the car sits, driven and what and how much dirt. Generally, leaving a car dirty is better than washing with an inferior soap and inferior process, which will definitely leave swirling all over the paintwork, with each bad wash, you are slowly etching the clear coating with the micro scratches and not before long, you will have dull looking paint, which you would then need to polish out or put a wax sealent to fill in those scratches in the clear coat and get the car looking glossy again.

What's your definition of before long ?
From personal experience cars that have had little to no routine cleaning/wash and or only spray car washes have deep build up that can only be rectified by and said cut and polish.
For show car finish the best is required but I would argue a quality ceramic coat and routine washing would be best- 0
@DannyBoy: There is no 100% safe way really.. But you can learn ways/techniques to 90% reduce risk. The most common method is the 2 bucket method, grit guard at bottom of both buckets, one soap, one rinse bucket, you use a quality microfiber, you always contact wash from top to bottom. Doing a foam pre wash to agitate the build up of dirt is a must before contact washing to prevent scratching. For the mitt you do like half a panel starting from top, flip mitt and do the other half and then rinse with grit guard. This method is not 100% safe. The safetest is the one bucket method where you have multiple microfiber mitts per panel. You put like 8-10 mitts in the soap bucket, use one per panel, then chuck in rinse bucket for washing and get a fresh one.. This way you are 100% making sure you don't re-introduce any dirt from the microfiber onto the paint again. If a car is really dirty, you can use an Alkaline pre wash with a higher Ph which will get the dirt off. You always pre foam a car before rinsing, unless you have mud or dirt, you would rinse the big stuff off first before doing the pre wash foam. My car is ceramic coated, so I know and have learned quite a bit about professional detailing. I even have a Dionized water system that plugs into my pressure washer for spot free rinse so you don't have to dry the car with a towel, drying the car, especially without a lubricated drying aid, is where a lot of people also put scratches into the paint. Unless you are going bush bashing/4WD, no one should let their car get so dirty/muddy. If people have driven through mud etc. They should be rinsing it off asap anyway so that when you do need to wash the car, its not difficult.

TLDR, using a bucket basically you'll be rubbing dirt back on the mitt which then micro scratches and swirls.

Such a fun read and you should read it.
We use double bucket system and no one stops you using triple along with multiple mitts. The zero bucket method is nonsense who on earth would do that?
1. It causes dirt to blast into the mitt rather than wash it off.
2. Then squirting thick, unactivated soap directly onto the mitt doesn't create any foam or cushioning, have fun rubbing a thick paste onto your dry, dirty panel.- 0
