Agreed, plenty of comparison and ask AI to compare the two, the features are better too (USB C vs AA batteries, one charge lasts 4 months. 3 computer switchable and the unifying adaptor).
The Vertical uses the Unifying receiver, which is Logitech's previous connection protocol.
The Lift uses Bolt which is the newer version, which has better energy consumption, resistance against interference and security. It is also the standard Logitech are using for their new devices, so will be compatible with their newer keyboards while Unifying will only work with older devices.
I've had my Lift for a few years now and can't remember changing the batteries, although I probably just pulled out the Eneloop connection if/when I did.
Also the Lift has a 3 device switch on the bottom as well. So it really comes down to the form factor, what other devices you might want to connect to with the same receiver and whether or not a plug in rechargeable function is a requirement.
@Domingo: Fair enough sounds like people should go and try both out (if possible).
The is a cheaper newer option but probably comes down to hand size, as you say.
I've had MX vertical + MX keys for years, both work and home, and they are a great (smallish hands). I've never thought they use much power at all (not a deciding factory).
It depends what you like - I think you'll find that people will say whatever they bought is the best.
Those unifying receivers work well and have plenty of them lying around, one lives in the laptop. Both options much better than bluetooth.
I prefer USB and want to get rid of all my rechargeable batteries. Energizers are better and go to recycling anyway.
@G-Shock: I have Bolt in my work laptop and home computer, using a MX Keys Mechanical that switches between both.
Part of my decision to get the Lift was not wanting to have to plug another dongle in from the old ecosystem when my keyboard was already in the new ecosystem.
The Lift battery life is listed at 24 months which is probably an overstatement for super heavy users, but it's definitely not churning through them and needing regular replacements.
I agree that Unifying works well, I used it for many years. It is old tech now though, which should be a consideration for buyers.
@Domingo: oh nice, I've got two of these MX Verticals, will have to wait for them to die :)
So bolt as in thunderbolt.. my new dell precision lappy has that. nice to save a USB port in that case, since there is only one.
The switching is very handy and works with either of my keyboards and mice.
@G-Shock: Nah, Bolt is just their new dongle spec. It's got a yellow logo instead of the orange one, runs a newer comms protocol.
@Domingo: Just had a look. So yes. You still need a USB bolt receiver to plug in anyway. Same thing really.
Otherwise option is BLE but you could get more interference.
@G-Shock: Depends if you like the soft click on the lift or the tactile accurate feel.
Either are fine and much better than normal mice, for extended use.

My MX Master left mouse click has been playing up. If I disconnect it, and then reconnect it’ll work fine for a week.
My Mx Master left mouse click has never played up, and it works indefinitely.
But I feel that that is a weak excuse for not buying a bargain.
Great price on these. I have both the Vertical and the Lift and have small to medium hands.
I had the MX Vertical and there weren't really any complaints with it while I had it but got the Lift because I wanted to see if there was a difference. The MX Vertical now sits on the shelf. Personal preference of course.
The Lift uses 1 x AA battery and I actually have a strong preference for replaceable batteries. Means the device doesn't become landfill once the built in battery dies. The MX Vertical can be used wired however, but the Lift can't be plugged in and used wired - if for some reason you had a preference for wired/lower latency.
Can anyone compare this to the ProtoArc pro vertical mouse?
