i've used a dedica - 51mm portafilter (too small imo), possible to make an ok coffee but it takes a bit of work and consistency's a matter of how on the ball you are

definely to pay a little bit more to buy Plus version.
I have the plus version, had to get it replaced under warranty because of the steam wand/sensor. I ended up just using a spare separate milk frother I have and it's much more convenient - can froth milk at the same time as pulling a shot and is way easier to clean, and also in the back of my mind is one less thing to fail. If I was to do it all over again, Id go the non plus version to save space and money and do what I'm doing ATM.
