For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

AliExpress trade in USD and setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion may result in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate.

  • Monday is the next proper AliExpress sale

    It’s been 84 years.

    • we are getting old

  • Next proper sale

    🫣

    • Yeah not that unproper filler sale I posted yesterday.

      • My observations of the last few years, is that the lower prices on the items I needed, were all in the sales between March - June.

Then, in July, the prices jumped up significantly, …in preparation for their 11/11 sales.

        • March anniversary, EOFY, 11/11 and Black Friday are the biggest

          • @Clear: After buying phones off Ali for the past decade, IMHO the best coupon USD120 off 6XX only comes at the 11.11 sale, occasionally released twice… Your thoughts Op?

  • Any tips on how to get the best deals on stuff?

    • The more you spend the more you save.

      • 📜 Here's your economics doctorate, sir.

        • And your leather jacket

    • Buy what clear tells you too.

      • Talentail 1.5kg cat food It ships from Amazon and cheaper than their own Amazon listing.

        /s

        • Seen you mention the Amazon shipping a few times. How do you tell which listing do?

          • @PainToad: Normally if they ship from Australia, since Amazon offer FBA without having to sell on the platform. Usually more likely if they also have the same product on Amazon.

    • I usually just keep it in my cart. If you are not rush you will see the price jump up and down. Was going to buy these mechcore devices for $69, discounted to $59. Waiting two weeks as I didnt need them. Paid $49.

      • Seems to be the opposite of ebay pricejacks where ali sellers actually lower their prices during coupon promos.

        • Yea or they tell you. hey you can buy this now and pay this much, or give us a day and it will be this much

    • dont buy stuff you dont need just because it looks cool, thats always the trap

  • Paypal discounts this time?

    • Hopefully better than the last one lol.

    • Nah haven't heard anything. Outside of major sales it will only be for PayPal Pay in 4.

    • hope so

  • Thanks Op, had a few inexpensive items in the cart, can wait few days for the upsized cashback

    • Same got some xiaomi cooking appliances in the cart

  • A proper Ali sale is US$3 off @ US$15 spend.

    • Check the app when the sale is live as it may be a unique code for you to collect. It's a lottery of what you get offered

    • If you have 64,000 of those gem points in the play and earn section you can redeem USD8 off USD50 spend or 160,000 points for USD20 off USD100 spend coupons. A decent max 16-20% off for USD50-100 pretax orders

      • Wow those actually produce practical rewards? Better than the coins' 1% discounts then.

        • I made a few orders today from the Coins page in the app. First order was 74% off and the second order 64%. It's not unusual to find some awesome deals in that section.

  • Think I will try for an ambernic RG40 XX H this time

  • Here we go again. I think I have a spending problem.

  • need a high TCB UK cashback

  • I'm seeing a US$4 off US$35 and US$38 off US$328 available to collect in the app that are unique to me. You may get the same or something else.

    • US$4 of $25 and US$9 off $60

    • Is that under 'my coupons' in the accounts tab?

      • Home tab, with the other coupons

    • Thanks for the post Clear,
Any Intel on if we will get a flint 2 deal this round?

      • They said there raising their prices after one of the recent big sales. I think the last sale it was US$120 which isn't quite cheap enough

        • So no more USD$80 ones you had before?

          • @vawiyoci: If they stick to their word.

            • @Clear: Damn was looking forward to one after amazon didn't repeat their last year's $35 GL-B3000 marble deal this prime week.

      • You can sorta get one for ~$126 if you factor in a successful cashback. Not quite the $115 ATL but oh well.

  • so excited for this one…been waiting 2 whole days since the last sale to save $3 on a $22 cart…and you get to play the 'guess the GST' mini-game at checkout as a bonus!

hope upsized cashback comes to the party so I can follow them up in 4 months to save another dollar or two…what a time to be alive :)

    • Username checks out

    • This is what Canadians and 'Muricans deal with everyday, guessing the sales tax, isnt it good we dont live there

  • Possible 11% cash back with top cash back Uk

  • Should I wait for a bit after 5 for cashback? Also it's OK to use Apple Pay with my Wise card to pay in USD for a better exchange rate?

  • Garmin Forerunner 265 Smart Watch US$240.13 (~A$346.46) AU Stock Delivered @ Aussie Electron Store

    • Add Color: Black Today to the cart
    • Apply the coupon VSAU05 at checkout

Stacks with 15% uncapped cashback at TCB UK and 20% (A$30 cap) at TCB AU.

The original deal was unpublished because the store doesn't have enough feedback to meet OzBargain's post requirements. Looking at product reviews, they've all been genuine.

  • These codes have been hanging around on my Aliexpress app for the last couple weeks, they just keeping changing the start and end dates, I'm waiting on several items sitting in my cart that keep changing price.

  • Aliexpress is refusing to refund return shipping they made me pay because of the size of the return package. Anyone know how to get my money back?

    • Chargeback.

      • The chargeback would only be against Australia Post. Aliexpress said they would pay once the returned item arrived. It's $105 so any help would be great

        • They did refund me the shipping fee I paid to auspost when it reached their warehouse

          • @terroz: My item reached the warehouse and I got the refund for the item. Ive been talking to chat all day trying to get shipping refunded. They are telling me they can't send me any money because they can't payback the original payment method.

            • @BadPanda: The shipping cost $105. What was the item?

              • @terroz: A bike frame, (with a misaligned bottom bracket). Very light but Auspost base it on size

              • @terroz: Aliexpress have told me "Since the shipping fee was paid directly to the logistics company offline, we were unable to process a direct cash refund to your original payment method"

                How did you get paid?

                • @BadPanda: They held the shipping fee about US$9, and if its returned in good condition, they will refund me the shipping fee.

                  • @terroz: Maybe thats why they are not paying the $105. The return shipping fee was paid separately from the original shipping fee (not held). I still don't understand why they can't transfer me money though.

  • My maths isn't good but I know US $19 (pre-shipping + tax) is a bigger number than US $15 so why isn't it letting me use the codes?

    • Needs to have a sale banner with codes underneath.

  • I'm new to Aliexpress. There are a number of things I'm looking at buying, is it best to fill up the cart and use the applicable coupon for the total?
And then with TCB, will cashback be paid only on the affiliated products in the total or will the non-affiliated products void the cashback from the purchase?

    • For Aliexpress, I just browse on my desktop/laptop, add the stuff I want to cart and add the promo code on PC at checkout then use my phone's TCB app to activate cashback which redirects to my phone's aliexpress app and just pay there. This one works always for me

      • Thanks. So it's unlike Amazon where your cart needs to be empty when activating cashback?

        • yeah doesnt need to be empty, my Aliexpress cart is always full of stuff I just uncheck them lol

  • Will TCB Uk increase their cashback?

Prices were a lot cheaper with the previous 25%

  • Hey @Clear we likely to get a ozbargain team cashback this time around? I see the cashback page within AliExpress states that the next event starts in July.

    • I’m also keen to know. I’ve got some items sitting in the cart waiting for Team OzBargain to start up again.

  • It looks like aliexpress app would default to Aud

That's as soon as you change to Australia region so I revert to USD to use the coupon

I think if I'm not wrong, it's always best to pay in USD with a no foreign exchange card via PayPal let the card issuer do the conversion
