  • My Roborock s8 ultra pro just stopped docking and I think its the docks IR sensor, I cant find a replacement.

Would this be a good upgrade?

    • Stay away. These and many ecovacs have a leak / water clearance issue which causes the dock to retain water and smell after a few months. Stick to roborock.

      • Been running a t30 pro for 1-2 years never had any water leaks. Sounds like a local problem being browsing and vaguely applied to the entire brand.

        • JB hifi rep told me that they had quite a few water system related returns when I returned mine 🤷. The roborocks I had before and after that seem to be chugging along fine, and have a better app/navigation in my opinion.

          • @niknikniknik: Sales rep anecdotes haha ok

Every brand has complaints or problems for some people , it’s just the nature of consumer goods, even roborock

            • @noise36: Agree that sales rep anecdotes are useless when they're selling you things. Don't see what they'd have to gain by lying when doing a return. Didn't buy the dreame he tried to sell me either. Anyways… I still wish I took the internet's advice on choosing roborock over ecovacs after my X11 experience, and thought I'd share that sentiment here.

              • @niknikniknik: Not knocking you for sharing your experience, but claiming "many ecovacs" have some problem based off it is a bit of a stretch. Go checkout the roborock subreddit you will find plenty of people having issues with their roborock robot vacuums.

                • @noise36: To me the r/roborock chats are expectedly very favourable for roborock and r/ecovacs are unexpectedly a mixed bag of people saying they prefer roborock or ecovacs. My read is that ecovacs are better on paper with better specs, suction power etc - let down by sub-par software and navigation (compared to roborock) and don't stand the test of time as well. This is consistent with my lived experience.

        • Same here, and working daily twice

      • I bought an X2 when Godfreys went burst and keep having the water in the cleaning sink causing it to stop cleaning after a few months. If I catch it and click resume in the app, then it just resume cleaning again, if not, it just terminates the job. I’ve cleaned the cleaning sink many times and doesn’t seem to clear this issue. Seems to be some issue with draining the water from that sink to the dirty tank. Recently, when I refill the water and empty the dirty tank, the dirty tank barely half full.

  • The Pro version alone is $999 on Amazon if you are buying one
