      I feel the people who have downvoted you have done so unfairly.

      I have come to much the same conclusion as you. All these 'genuine leather' belts are garbage and won't last. If you can get one for less than $20 thats fine.

      Menswear nerd here - a little secret for everyone: the best bang for buck belts are from Uniqlo, particularly the ones that have the Italian tannery stamped on the back (Volpi Concerie and Ausonia Conceria are the two that I've seen). They use top-grain leather from renowned tanneries, that feel amazing and typically cost a lot more. The leather is a significant step up from the often very dubious, flaky, stiff "genuine leather", that comes from who knows where. The Uniqlo belts will last decades and age beautifully!

      Here's a good breakdown.

      Yes its, $15 more than the one OP posted - it will feel a LOT nicer than the $15 extra you'll spend! OP's belt is overpriced, and I wouldn't pay more than the $8 you did.

        ooo i dunno, best bang for buck… I'll argue for this or this being best bang for buck.
        The second will require finishing. not for everyone, but i'm putting here anyway, in case it's of interest to anyone. If you're an aliexpress sorta guy, then something like this or this may be of interest to pair with the second. Can also get a finished one from dshorne but that's $40 (still cheaper than uniqlo - but we're talking best bang for buck).

        both full grain, both aussie made.

        also, it's worth stating that canvas belts are great for casual use, and can be had cheap on aliexpress.

        full disclosure- i'm NOT a menswear nerd. so happy to hear counter-arguments. but am a proud cheapo, so i notice the finer details of price differences ;D

    Doesn’t look like good quality - misleading. Genuine leather is 3rd tier quality

    Better wear and strength for belts when described as full grain or top grain.

    I once got a rm Williams belt for cheap on a post here. Pre 2020. It is still going strong. Before that I would run through cheap belts. Sometimes a poor man really does pay twice

Not had good experiences with belt purchases in the past years - did have the re-inforced dickies branded ones that lasted longer but eventually stretched and weakened in other places but lasted 6+ months daily so figured their quality isn't too bad… Can't trust the advertisements for full grain leather, etc. - reviews are mixed on all that I see….

      6+ months daily. I think I'd think of something as disposable if it only lasted around 6 months. I think belts are supposed to last a decade or two.

    I have been using the brown version everyday at work since 2017. It’s a single piece of leather, and still in great nick. I think it was a Secret Santa present with a $50 budget, so this seems pretty reasonable.

    i have switched to the ratcheting belts, they fit better as it has a lot of micro adjustments to give you that perfect fit. im usually in between 2 holes where it is slightly loose, and the next hole is slightly tight. The ratcheting ones give me the perfect hold. sizes are slightly different between jeans and dress pants.

      Any quality recommendations? Are they leather or synthetic the ones you get with ratchet? I don't mind either material, just need something reliable.

      I had a great one of these - good leather too. But the buckle detached from the belt and I wasn't able to fix it.

      I've had a couple of these, first thing I don't like is the buckle on both of them is quite bulky. The bigger issue is the quality of the strap, on both of them they haven't lasted long before the buckle has ripped the 'leather' and come apart. You can trim a bit off and reattach, but that doesn't help if you are out (happened once when I was wearing some shorts that were too large, had to hold onto them as I walked around all afternoon).

    Amazon's pricing math is doing some serious gymnastics here. I selected size 32" - while both belts are currently selling for the exact same price ($35.00), the "original" prices crossed out underneath them make the logic fall apart:
    The Black Belt - Marked down from $74.25 (advertised as a "Deal").
    The Dark Brown Belt - Marked down from $44.62 (standard Prime price).
    Essentially, Amazon is claiming that the black version of the exact same belt is normally almost " $30 more expensive" than the brown one just to make the current "Deal" look like a massive, high-percentage discount.
    It's a classic case of inflating the "List Price" to make a sale look way juicier than it actually is!

    The deal has been marked expired, but is still on for some sizes and colours. E.g. sizes 32, 38, 40 each have at least one colour for $35.

    There's also this one in size 34 for $34. And similar prices on various sizes and colours on the Timberland Men's 35Mm Classic Jean Belt.
