      Unlucky experience, I took another punt on the brand upgrading from d10+ that is almost 5yrs old going strong with hardly any maintenance. I had taken it apart and blown it out with an air duster 2 or 3 times over the 5 years. Maybe these newer models with more bells and whistles will have more that could go wrong.

      100% T80 OMNI. The roller mop is next level compared to the rotating pads.
      The L40 Ultra AE actually compares a lot more to T50 OMNI except the higher Pa.

        Roller mops (on every robovac that uses it, not just Ecovacs models) tend to cause cleaning solution streaking on the edges when compared to the rotating pads. How does the T80 address this, if at all?

          not only that, it cant get teh sides like the spinning ones, they dont get near the kitchen cabinets and under dishwasher. spinners way better for home use. roller for office

                @Roe Jogan: I did an AI check on this vs T80 vs qrevo edge for my situation eg hardwood floor and some times, long hair, clutter etc. Qrevo ranks no 1. So I have just ordered Qrevo Edge. Still have T80 omni on order but will likely cancel this.12 months warranty with Ecovacs is not confidence inspiring.

      Also bought the L10s Ultra Gen 3 and as my first Dreame product, I am very impressed. Really good on tiles, very good on my carpets too.

      Only issue seems to be finding spares on Amazon is a bit harder for now. Had to order them from Amazon Germany.

      And they have a change of mind policy which does not have time limit (robot vacuums are not part of the 90day exclusion list).

    anyone on the fence, you are better off buying the edge for 100 more, what u get is raising robot that can climb up or down from (advertised 4cm but realistically no more than 2.5 cm) ledges and doorways. hot water mop washing with spinning clean up area in the base. raising side brush and anti tangle side brush (roborock exclusive) for when its mopping u dont want the brush spreading the stuff all over. a true anti tangle main brush. as well as arguably a way smarter brain in scanning and executing cleaning, no erratic movements or retarded patterns which dreame seems to suffer from. i was tossing up between the 3 i went roborock, also another thing that is priceless in my book, roborock is the only manufacture that has a tuv german firm certificate for their privacy IOT and software, dreame has it but only for hardware not for privacy and software, when u have a wifi connected camera in the house you would want that extra peace of mind, also another thing, which was what was preventing me to get a camera version in the first place but now its not that big of a deal, you can use this in offline mode voice activated after initial online mapping of the house. you just tell it hey roborock clean the kitchen or increase vaccum power. if you want to use the app it has to be in online wifi connected but a privacy workaround is u can literally turn off all camera functions and electric sticky tape the lens. no issue from my research, what you will loose that way is small obstacle avoidance like cable or small toys. which makes it as smart as a non camera version of any roborock, but with the extra physical features that u dont get in those cheaper models as mentioned earlier.

        yes! i ordered it today, all ive written is based on hours of research and watching reviews on youtube. like i said if u have door seals this will clear them. unlike the dreame that wont. and forget that function, think about the overall smartness overall. and the privacy certification alone should be worth it

      I like better obstacle detection too otherwise pain in the backside micromanaging it getting stuck.

        you are looking at tables, im looking at consensus and majority real world reviews. numbers or spec sheets dont show the full picture. dreame takes usually %30 more time to do the same job, its not because it does better cleaning or you would think ohh maybe its taking its time coz its trying to do a better job, no, the software and movement hangs and is slow, has weird erratic patterns, this was the consensus across multiple dreame vs roborock models (youtube reviews that pointed it out or ones that didnt but were clearly observable by me)

          You don't think sites like Vacuum wars fully tests these robot vacuum cleaners?? To be honest both seem pretty good however according to comprehensive site reviews like VW it edges out the Roborock in this particular head to head. I've watched a few reviews etc as well to come to my decision. I guess it all comes down to what features you value the most and being significantly more discounted helped push this deal across the line for me too.

        For some reason ozbargain is obsesssed with roborock and hates ecovacs and seems to be on the fence for dreame.

        Yet vacuum wars who thoroughly review these things better than anyone else have dreame 1/20 and ecovacs 2 & 3/20 on their top 20, the first Roborock features at 9/20.

      The duo brush is the game changer for me. Especially with long hair and pets in the house.
      The Dreame is probably a better unit in a few areas but I just know that single brush will be a nightmare for pet hair.

        Okay so finally heard back from amazon today. They are going to provide a gift card for the difference of $111.

        Edit - It was a bit of a process as I had to go to a manager and they put a request via internal email to some account team but just heard back tosay that it was approved.

        I used AI and explained what my flooring looks like and what I expect and what I appreciate and what I can miss.
        The use case is very different from person to person. Having pets? Kids? Wife? Carpet? Thresholds between rooms? Worried about privacy? ….
        What is good for one is not great for another. I found AI to be quite helpful (always check though) in assesing my needs and preferences and matching to the robovac models.

            @Tommohalby: Thank you. I have all hard flooring and tiles. Edge while 130$ more expensive has better suction and user experience it seems. It also has extended brush similar to dreme.

            Seems you can’t go wrong with any one of these.

    I paid $760 for this + $23 for cleaning solution a couple of days ago. Called Amazon and they gave me $100 courtesy credit and refunded the $23 for the cleaning solution. I guess it's a win for me - was afraid they would ask me to send back the robotvacuum which only got delivered this morning.

    Also this L40 Ultra AE was still rated as #20 in vacuum wars top 20 robot vacuum in early June.

      Realistically all will be fine. I went with the Qrevo edge due to general consensus of a more favourable view of roborock vs. dreame in terms of reliability. Features were all pretty comparable and splitting hairs.

        Same, I was picking between the same 3 and went with roborock as they seem to the most reliable and widespread plus the app has way more user reviews than the dreame app does so they're just a much larger market share. so as a piece of mind I went with the qrevo edge

      I ended up getting the X40 over the others. I was short circuiting trying to decide which to buy, but I went with the X40 hoping the slightly older flagship model has most kinks ironed out by now. You can pretty much find positive and negative reviews on each of them so it may just come down to luck. Our cheapie Lubluelu has been rock solid so I can only hope the X40 should be miles ahead….

      Depends. I value the Roborock more (generally more polished, reliable and supposedly less spying).
      To me going to this would be a slight downgrade, but - you will be saving $100….

    With a $134 price difference against the QRevo Edge I still think this is a good option.

    I bought a different vacuum (X40 Ultra for $713) but I think the only difference between the L40 and QRevo is the extendable side brush on the QRevo and better threshold climbing ability.

    Duo Divide is not perfect as you can see if you scan the r/Roborock subreddit, it tends to create hair balls in between the brushes and if any of the brushes have cuts in them hair will get tangled on the brush, so you will still have to frequently inspect the brushes.

    I haven’t found many (or any actually) pictures of the Dreame Tricut brush having tangles in it. Also I have never found the side brush with hair tangles, or that it impacted mopping performance because it wasn’t lift able. I have always ran it in vacuum & mop mode, because debris getting through to the rotary spinning mop pads is going to scratch the laminate flooring I have.

    Previously I’ve bought a Roborock S7 in 2021, a Dreame L20 Ultra in 2024 (which I’m upgrading from) and I don’t think there’s a huge difference in the app or navigation.

    If you’re worried about the CCP being interested in the contents of your house, I suppose that is a point in favour of Roborock however if you can use it without the camera after the first setup. Although both are Chinese companies, so it’s very likely that they are both spying on you even in other ways.

    Dreame tends to top charts in comparison tests (e.g. Vacuum Wars), while Roborock tends to lean on its brand name (its first robot vacuum was released before Dreame even existed).

    The reason I’m upgrading from the L20 Ultra at all is because I want hot water mop washing & a self cleaning washboard. I certainly wouldn’t have paid $2800 for those upgrades but at $713 I’ll bite, having to clean the washboard on the L20 Ultra every week is a hassle.

      I think you need additional tricut roller for l40. Not sure if included or not. For long hair roborock qrevo is best with duo roller. Main reason I went with roborock.

      4 long hair people in my house and I use l40
      This model has a tricut brush that cuts long hair into small pieces and it has worked great so far. No hair on the main brush

    I got the L40s ultra and after 7 months it no longer has the ability to see or navigate. My last (and first) robot vacuum lasted over five years. I'm annoyed.
