A couple of times my aging dad has stealthily broken off small cuttings of plants from doctor's waiting rooms, he has a huge fiddle leaf fig that he successfully grew from such a cutting. Then a few years ago he picked a tiny little cutting from a pot plant and popped it into a pot at home. It hadn't grown at all in about a year and I had a look at it recently and discovered it was plastic. :) I think I might tell that story at his eventual send off.
