    Can this be used as a regular micro SD card? Because it's cheap by current flash prices even compared to basic 256gb cards on Amazon!

      They can indeed. I bought a fair few last year on Amazon for $47 each and they are in my tablets, handhelds, raspberry pi, and 2 in security cameras.

      I hate that I don't need one but want one because it's cheapest price for a reliable brand card with the voucher. Even garbage brand cards on Amazon cost more.

      Yes, but only at UHS-I speed.

      I got one to use in a DJI cam and it works fine though.

          Action 4 🙂.
          I haven't tested it on max bitrate though.
          A quick google indicates max is 130Mbps, well under capacity.

    Weirdly though, you can only get the speeds of this card with a micro sd express adapter. Otherwise it drops to UH-I speeds rather than dropping to UH-II speeds. Which is really slow.

        Unless the device reads micro sd express cards (basically the Switch 2) this will act like a UH-i card. So your better of getting a UH-ii card which writes and reads at about 300mbs rather than dropping down to the 100mbs with UH-i

            @viper8548: UHS-II has extra row of 8 pins (total of 16). In the microSD Express, that extra row is replaced by 9 pins (total of 17) to make it PCIe. There's not enough room to have UHS-II pins and PCIe pins at the same time.

          This is true, but I don't think many devices do microSD UHS-II either, do they? If you're using it in a camera or something, this could still be a good option as (paired with the correct reader), you can import the files onto your computer much faster.

      UHS-II Micro SD cards have two rows of contacts, like SD Express, but my guess is that since SD Express is based on PCIe the signalling isn't backwards compatible and so those extra pads are disabled or simply go unused when you put an Express card in an older device.
      This is also assuming your device has a micro SD card slot with two rows of pins, and it probably doesn't unless it was very expensive (which UHS-II micro SD cards are well, attracting a premium of like ~3-5x the cost of a UHS-I card of the same capacity).

      Edit: Also worth noting that Express cards use slightly more power during read/write operations than normal micro SDs, so they're actually kind of worse unless you're using one in an Express-capable device.

        And make sure that you register your cards with the manufacturer and keep your receipts for warranty purposes.

        I've had plenty of cards fail on me.

      Continuous recording cameras will always burn out an SD card earlier than you would expect. Cams that only record on event detection will last much longer.

      For continuous recording, its always worth getting a NVR with a hard drive.

        I bought 2 switch 2's ($669 each), 2 switch 2 pro controllers ($99 each) and this sd card ($61) for 28% CB and 10x Reward points, since they are all sold by Woolworths Group under the same ABN, I claimed TRS for all of them, and TRS was calculated by the original price before CB which was even better. The switch 2 after CB, 10X points and TRS was only $669*(1-0.05 points-1/11 trs)-$150 CB=$424.7 see image, I suppose I would never see a similar deal in the next 2 years

        I just had to exchange my Atrix 256gb card at EB Games after it died. Switch would not recognise it and even placing in PC it only showed as 8gb.

      512gb looks like three times the price for only double the storage. YMMV, but switch 2 games aren't that huge and there is already 256gb onthe system, so for me 256gb should be plenty
      EDIT: Also I assume you meant you got a switch 2, not a switch 1. If you got a switch 1 I wouldn't buy this card, much cheaper options will work just as well for you

    If you have an Express SD card reader, this is perfect and cheap for sport/small cameras, the reading speed is up to 900mb/s on my mac.
