Reason: Listing error, customers report receiving a different model (M8) with inferior specifications.

Pretty sure this listing is mislabeled. The main image and title say Ryzen 5 Pro 6650H, but every other spec checks out to be a GMKtec K8.
​Either way, it’s hella cheap.

Note: Amazon Germany is the seller so I'll take my chances.

Well, as expected, I received the GMKTEC M6 today. I contacted Amazon support about getting the wrong item, and they had me order the GMKTEC K8 Plus and issued a gift card to cover the price difference! I've returned the GMKTEC M6 just a moment ago.

    There have been quite a number of listings for mini PC's on Amazon Global where the specification shown on Amazon.com.au is incorrect. If you go to Amazon.de (Germany) and search for the ASIN B0D1QLQK7G you can see exactly what the model / configuration is supposed to be

      Thanks for the heads up, I'd love to buy this, but with all the pain the other folks experienced, it's just not worth the risk.

    Anecdotal, I bought some gaming monitors from Amazon for Christmas presents. 3 monitors I had delivered the week before Xmas as the kids who got them were not going to be home again until after new years.

    I went off the description and the photos illustrating the MSI gaming monitors. The generic description and images belonged to the model above. An extra $90 each so I didn't think it was a huge discount and didn't question it.

    They opened them, all excited, plugged them in, I went home after giving their parents printouts of the invoice and store page.

    2 days later they went to the UK for Christmas, I looked at the invoice and the pictures and noticed the discrepancies.

    Got on to Amazon, explained the situation , 3 monitors, wrongly advertised, already delivers and set up and won't have access to return them until the new year if they still have the boxes etc

    They refunded me the total amount, said keep them, apologised for the mix up and I noticed my next purchase had a $5 courtesy voucher applied.

    Mine was a genuine mistake and I have felt guilty about it since.

    Do what you will with this knowledge knowing it can lead down a very dark path of upsetting the Amazonians and ambassadors of the Prime.

    the specs on the PC listed looks and sounds more the GMKTec M8 rather than the K8, which has the Ryzen 5 6650H with 6 cores/12 threads, 16GB of soldered RAM (not expandable), occulink, and are usually around this price for the model with 1TB SSD:

    Man. I did a mislabeled from Amazon US. it was painful x10000 to get it refunded as they claim you send the wrong box back. It was the one listed in the top comment.

    Would this be any good for Assetto Corsa Rally, Project cars and similar?

    Haven't dabled with any PC "stuff" since 2012 (using a MacBook with a 320M)… So way out of the loop.

    Was looking at buying a used laptop with a i7 / GTX 1060 (Alienware 17 R4/ MSI Dominator/ Dell G7 for around $400). Maybe a RTX 2050 option.

    Are these little pc things a better option?

    No clue on these "gaming specs" outside the intel GeForce environment.

    Will just be for racing games and look to store under a couch when not in use.

    *Edit - just did some reading..looks like this is rubbish for gaming unless you buy a separate graphics card for it?

    P.S. anyone recommend the best budget laptop to play the older racing games?

      I wouldn't be misled by the "Gaming" marketing, it's considered a 'gaming-ready' machine because it has a Radeon 660m iGPU (possibly equal to a mobile GTX 1050, and definitely worse than a GTX 1060 6GB) and secondly, it has an Oculink port.

      The Oculink port lets you plug in an external graphics card and basically 'upgrade' the Mini PC into a halfway decent gaming PC. However you not only need to buy a GPU, you also need to buy an Oculink dock. Both of which significantly adds to the total cost of the machine.

        Google AI suggests the dedicated vram GtX 1060 is 200% better than the Radeon 660M.

        Looks like an old gaming laptop is still the best choice.

          Yeah that too. Some models like the $259 MINISFORUM Docking Station DEG1 has a power supply built in, but if you go the cheap / hacky route, a PSU is mandatory otherwise you have nothing to plug into the PCIE 6x or 8x

I want to plug an egpu in its own enclosure into the wall and into the unit and my screen into the egpu and the enclosure for my GPU needs to be hefty, mean, look sharp, possibly break a foot or shin if it slipped off the table. None of this folder alloy with all your shit hanging out.

      I just got a bosgame "p3plus" ryzen 7840hs 780m igpu, 32gb DDR5, 1tb Kingston NVME drive for $100 more.

      Gaming beast, no. Gaming capable, very much yes. All the fallouts, a couple mortal Kombat, some switch emulation, a polite fiddle with the witcher 3 wild hunt.

      I'm treating it as a console so controller only (for 90%) of its use outside setup. CachyOS, it's game packages and tweaks, heroic launcher to get all my epic/gog/luna freebies and I'm going great. Enjoying smooth gameplay (from obviously non stressful games) but I'll build up to crysis

          Perfectly, I'm running arch and using it as a console in the lounge, playing way more than I thought it would.

          Only issue I had was I needed to put 2 USB drives in the back at the same time to allow the bosgame to enter boot selection with F7 and get rid of windows. 1usb in either USB port, no luck, 2nd in either no luck, both and suddenly I could choose between either USB drive.

          Playing boots of witcher 3 at the moment, smooooooth.

          Did you stick with windows and how was the bloat? Also, fan noisy, I'm running nothing heavy but hear a faint hum from time to time

            @Frackingiscool: Am glad to know that!! Windows. yes reaching F7 was a challenge… but ultimately reinstalled windows11 pro.
            how to wake it up from sleep- end up restarting hard booting everytime.
            Also, keeps giving black screen with 'your device ran into a problem and needs to restart 100% completed' with xxx error messages several times.

              @10muscat: Did you install from an official windows iso or just the included preload?

              So far the Linux experience has been typically modern Linux. Nothing's breaking, drivers for everything. I just reinstalled CachyOS after thinking plain arch would be easier but the game optimisation in cachyos is so good.

              I don't use windows myself, which software are you using when it shits the bed?

      Eh depends on what sort of level of immersion you want. This can probably play it low res 30 fps, but would that be fun?

      Laptops set both easy and hard benchmarks. If you want 1080p 60fps on a decent screen you are golden. You want to push higher details on 1440p at 144hz, ehhh it's going to get hot on your desk…

    Considering 7840hs model is just $100(yesterday apparently) more of this mislabeled deal, I wouldn’t risk it. Unless it was HX370 at that price. Think about repeatedly speaking to 50 associates and get hung up on 10 minutes on each for just a $100 savings.

    Went through at least 10 live chat sessions, each agent offered return for refund initially and most said there was no other option available even when asked about replacement with a K8 Plus and credit for the difference. I had one chat where they said they would need to raise a price adjustment request which would take 3-5 business days and another where an agent from the leadership team emailed me to confirm that they would credit me the difference once it was returned.

    I wasn't happy with this outcome since I wanted the price difference credited before I made the return and I eventually got blocked from live chat but I requested a phone call and the first agent I got was super helpful and credited me the $445.39 at the same time as starting the return process. I saw the credit in my balance immediately and have used it to order the K8 Plus.

        4th call, and I was able to get them to agree to a $300 Amazon Gift Card on my balance, as well as a refund on my credit card, even before they confirmed receiving the item

        While not the total $445.39, I am still very happy with the outcome, considering I was ready to send it straight back for a refund

        All in all; $734.99 for a K8 Plus is pretty good IMO

        Chalk another one up, thanks to my amazing fellow OzBargainers!

        After a week of back and forth and multiple escalations, I was offered a $261 credit for price match to buy K16 Mini PC which I accepted. Unfortunately, K8 Plus wasn't available for purchase at that time.

    Strangely it had a sticker on bubble wrap which said K8 but after removing shrink wrap another sticker at same spot on box said M8

    After a lot of back and forth, I finally got Amazon to credit me the price difference so I could purchase the K8 Plus. I now have $1,035 sitting in my gift card balance.

    I contacted them as soon as I received the M8 and made a full unboxing video in case I ran into any issues when returning it.

    The associate initially only offered a return and refund because it was sold by a third-party seller (Amazon DE). I insisted that I wanted the correct item sent rather than a refund, as I believed I was entitled to a replacement. The agent eventually agreed that I could order the K8 Plus and that Amazon would credit the price difference once it was delivered. I then returned the M8 and ordered the K8 Plus.

    After the K8 Plus was delivered, I contacted Amazon again. As expected, they started denying the promise that had been made, claiming it was a different model and a different seller. They reluctantly lodged a ticket, saying the leadership team would need to approve it, and asked me to wait 72 hours.

    As any OzBargainer knows, waiting 72 hours wasn't an option. So, I kept trying over several days and spoke with multiple agents. Eventually, I got through to an agent who quickly credited the price difference and processed the refund for the M8 in gift card credit.

    I'm very happy with the outcome. Now I'm even considering returning the K8 Plus and ordering something else using the gift card balance. If you're in a similar situation, don't give up.

          Yeah, all good for me. Just need to remember to always turn on the eGPU enclosure first before the mini PC.
          Also tried Bazzite and it detected the eGPU with no issues.

    Just a decent dual-channel 32gb DDR5 RAM costs at least around 600-700 AUD these days so to get a full PC with 32gb DDR5 RAM with 1Tb SSD at this price (sub 600 AUD) would be quite good if the seller honours this listing/deal or if you can even get it that is.

      I'd fully expect this to be laptop memory (SODIMM) which is usually capped at 5600mt/s and not as expensive as desktop kits which new are $500-$550 but regularly see them 2nd hand for $300 total.

      I've used laptop memory with adaptors in my AM5 rig 😂

      It's still a good price regardless. Companies are using laptop boards and laptop ram in more products even prebuild desktops. It's a shame if you don't realize you can't replace your cpu because it's soldered onto the board in a desktop build)

    I just found this thread. I ordered the K8 and also got the M8. Took 1hr 45 mins and 6 different Amazon agents, and will take a few weeks to process the refund. I never noticed the sticker on the shrink wrap. I just checked and yeah, says K8. Bitter experience with Amazon for me. Second time in two orders they've sent the wrong item.

    Only $100 more than the memory by itself with a back up micro PC, 1Tb ssd and wifi nic thrown in. Hard to pass up, worth the risk of a free return, but I'll be sure to video the unboxing to remove any risk of the claim that I'm not returning the same product I received!
