      The kit from the prev deal (and this one) is 32G (16G x 2) 3200MHz 16-20-20-40 1.35V.

      CL22 is only for the 32G x 1 stick which was not in stock.

      In April of last year, I upgraded my media server machine, and one of those upgrades was adding an extra 16gb of DDR4 ram (2x8gb sticks) to my existing 16gb of ram. Each stick cost me $29. I got it from computer alliance, and while I can't remember exactly which stick model I got, their cheapest option now for an 8gb DDR4 stick of ram is $119. I wish I had changed it all out to have 64gb instead so I could have taken out 32gb now and sold it now to come out ahead with my upgrade, and still had 32gb in my pc!

      They will get cheaper. It's not being talked about enough outside of dev circles but in addition to releasing cheaper ram china also keeps rapidly pumping out more groundbreaking efficient ai models that run on lower spec hardware. The efficiency and speed bumps are not tiny numbers either.

      Companies in the US have been too used to having access to excess capital and hardware so their solution was throwing more and more expensive compute/hardware at ai rather than optimisation. Datacentres are going to reach a point where they either have a bunch of over-purchased useless hardware lying around or will eventually slow down purchasing before it reaches that point leading to manufacturers running back to consumers.

        Hopefully. Though GPU prices haven't gone back down to pre-Covid (crypto boom) level and probably never will because it's been ages now. Covid was already 6-7 years ago.

          It went down for a short while, people celebrated because scalpers got shafted and tried to offload cheap stock on ebay and retailer discounts came back, then ai happened.

    Ordered two sets to hopefully work together. Both cashbanks tracked for £23.31 (~45AUD-ish) each. Keep fingers crossed. This equates to ~154AUD for 32GB (without AE's 2% earnings), which is good enough in current times.

      They've been around since 1999, they actually are one of the first companies to make and ship a USB drive. Highly reliable in terms of flash storage, memory, ssd etc.

      in the same boat, not sure if its worth getting 32gb over my current 2*8gb 3600mhz, bought that for 100$ or so back few years ago, also means i have no use for the 16gb anymore. Do you know if it will make a big difference? (6700xt, 5600 setup)

        Depends on your usage. I'm not a heavy-gamer but more of a general user (media consumption and photo editing). With Luminar and Chrome open, I'm already consuming 80-90% of my 16GB so there is benefit in going 32GB. For gaming, I'm more GPU-bound (also have a 6700XT @ 3840x1600) so any RAM performance decrease by going down to 3200 should have less of an effect.

        Also, I will sell off my old 16GB kit as it can still fetch a reasonable price.

          I noticed a clear uplift when upgrading from 16 to 32GB when I was using a Radeon FX 5700, although at 2560×1440. Mostly reduced stuttering and other forms of lag.

            @boozed: Try your luck at that unoptimised mess called Star Citizen and you'll notice a big difference between 16GB and 32GB RAM. Still laggy at 64GB 😢
