    Why is ram so low for a model at this price point? Can anyone comment if this phone suffers because of only 8GB?

      Part of the reason why I got the Edge 60 Pro over this model. Overall better specs that their 2026 handsets (RAM, Storage, battery etc.) I couldn't understand why they released new phones in 2026 with worse specs that some of those from 2025. It made it very confusing when deciding which phone to get

          Doesn't cost as much as you think. edge 50 neo for $300 a year or so ago with 12gb, no way 4gb more ram costs $200 more.

            @Calvin27: It might, I bought 10tb HDDs for a nas 6 months ago at $399 each and now they are 689 from the same retailer and 799 at others.

          That I understand, but the battery and storage I don't get. And only some phones at higher tiers don't have wireless charging capabilities.

          Just a reminder that you can still buy 2 units of the "full" edge 70 (not the the lower-tier Fusion version) with the full 12GB RAM (not the Australian cut-down 8GB RAM version) in China or India for less price than the cost of one 8GB in Australia.

          Either Moto's Australian distributor is taking the piss or they have ample negatively-priced RAM in China and India, take your pick.

        The previous Pro model should always have better specs than the Fusion.
        Essentially comparing a 1 year old flagship with the next year's entry level of the same line.
        The 70 Pro would be better spec'd than the 60 Pro but I would say they're saving sales for the Signature in our market

      I am running a macbok with 8gb ram, gaming, AI, A crap load of tabs run without issue. This is fine for the average user

        My work laptop is 8gb ram and I’m running office365 and Visio on it, as with all tech, might be how many apps people are running, do they shutdown unused apps, and the dreaded chrome tab resource drain, guess some people ,anyagage what’s open on their phones, some people probabaly don’t even know.

      It has virtual RAM feature called RAM Boost which can add additional RAM from storage if required.

      Cost or RAM chips have skyrocketed due to the chip shortage. Also this is only a mid range phone model. You're lucky to get 8GB of RAM or else if they did put 12GB on this you'll be paying hundreds of dollars more.

      Global ram shortage. Better to buy older flagship. I think 12gb ram is a good idea these days for Android.

      It’s ddr5 ram and it’s faster than ddr4 & as well it can use some of the 256gb as a swap for the unused but launched apps. It’s irrelevant in use, 8gb vs 12gb and up as to how Android and iOS keep apps that have been launched in memory (often swap) ready to be reopened and resumed where you left off. The REAL use for more memory is in running an LLM concurrent with your apps; that’s a monster that eats memory and poops on your apps usability; all the while it can spy on you! So expect ram to go up soon and the problems of tracking and spying too alas

      I'm thinking that the G84 model was designed and manufactured before the big RAM chip shortage and huge price increase from that. Also it's not just the RAM but also the price of the NAND storage on these smartphones skyrocketed too. It all adds up to the price. It's because of the AI datacentres hogging up all the chips.

    Ram on the phone matters less than on PC, an 8gb ram phone is ok besides llms that are mostly crap perf anyway.

      depends how much you can sell your current for, 70 as newer battery tech and bigger capacity, better screen, better cpu, abit less RAM though

    Grabbed one, perfect timing. Ended up buying from JB (close to home) who matched the price (no tag) and 10% gift card back. Used topcashback for the exact amount 2.5% gift card cashback. May be cheaper ways, this was convenient.

    There is a clear phone hard plastic sleeve / case in the box + USB c to C cable. No need to buy an extra.

    I got this when it was just released, same price IIRC. I chose this over the 70 edge as my s22 ran out of battery when I was out and luckily I had my SmartRider card and didn't need to pay for anything else.

    Battery life is good, camera is not but oh well. Processor is a little slow, like when i searching apps and settings. Some games and apps do lag but it's generally OK once I clear all the apps and restart the game. For $500 I find it's worth it, I don't really have any regrets in not getting a flagship phone, this is my first midrange ever.
