  • Why not just use Eatclub and get 30%-50% off your mean?

    • I think you can stack it by adding Restaurant Choice into Eatclub?

      • How?

        • You can add restaurant choice to eatclub via applepay

          • @RTY: But isn't eatclub linked to your credit card?

            • @jv: Restaurant Choice is a prepaid debit card that can add to Apple Pay

              • @littlesoldier: :O

Anyone able to confirm if they've successfully linked eatclub to a restaurant choice card?

            • @jv: No, I've added this way since May, and my recent eatclub transaction (last week) was charged to restaurant choice

              • @RTY: Sorry to confirm, you were able to make the eatclub payment source a restaurant choice card? Insane if true

                • @dsar: I can send you screenshot if you want to see

                  Update: https://ibb.co/DTcsJnd

                • @dsar: I can also confirm it is true. I have a new $500 RC card loaded exclusively for my EatClub account

                • @dsar: Seconded/thirded. The restaurant choice gift card can be added to eatclub. I'll blow your mind even more, the eatclub "wallet card" can be used at Woolies, Coles and Aldi to pay for groceries (I believe if you are in the saffron or caviar tier but might work without it - don't know). So you can use restaurant choice gift cards to pay for groceries (or other gift cards 😉).

              • @RTY: really, we can add this card as payment method via apple pay?

                  • @RTY: this is made through the eatclub card in the google wallet, not the restaurant card in the google wallet, right?

                    • @jimwh: i'm using iphone. this was using eatclub card to tap at restaurant and charges showed up in my restaurant choice gc.

  • Just try to add to my eat club account without any luck! I bought 5 of $300 gift card with non of it can be adding a payment method. I can do it last time but not today!

    • I have not tried myself, but the above said you can add via applepay?

      • Google Wallet is the one I tried

    • What error are you getting? Is it this?

      • Error creating payment method, please try again.

        • Might be worth emailing support, took about 3 days for them to respond but they did fix it

          • @1d0ntkn0w: Just tried to add the card as default payment without any luck after I received email from Eatclub claim they already fixed the payment issue on their end.

        • maybe it was have shopping feature before and eatclub may change the category?

  • How is this a deal now when you can just eatclub at high % for discount

    • You can add this restaurant choice gift card as a payment method within eatclub to stack discounts.

      • did you test it today?

        • Not today, added a restaurant card yesterday though no issues

    • because not every venue has EatClub?

  • as long as you have a $300 gift card u can add another $1000 gc and still get the promotion applied.

    • Nice find! Works with one $5 and one $1000 GC as well

      • Yep, as long as under $300 it works. But it would probably annoy me trying to get rid of a $5 balance. Unless theres an item you want that is exactly $5 - like a $5 KFC box?

        • That's fair, I was thinking from the perspective that if you have a denomination that you won't use in one go, you'll end up with that problem either way.

    • Legend!

  • Has anyone purchased today and succefully added as payment methoed via apple pay in eatclub today?

  • I need a $400 card. Can i get 2x$200?

    • Yes, as long as "first" card value is less than or equal to $300
      eg. you can buy $300 + $1000

The max discount per order is $200, meaning max total value (before discount) is $2500

      • Got you thanks so I can buy 2x $200 with individual cost of $184 and total cost of $368 for a value of $400?

        • yep, $200 x 2 will cost $368

    • yes, or u can buy a $5 card and a $400 card and itll still apply discount.

      • but the $5 card will be harder to use

  • How is the card delivered? I see two emails but none have any code

    • There's another email subject: You’ve got a gift from XXXXX (name)

In the email, there's a "Redeem now" button where it will lead to a page to enter your email address
then you can register your details and it generates the card details afterwards

The email lands into the "Promotions" tab in my Gmail

  • Anyone not get their gift card yet? I paid using paypal…

    • Never use paypal. ever.

  • I am usually using 'cafe choice'
Anyone aware of the difference between these two?
    Thanks!

    • This one has 8% off.

  • This didn't work for me for doordash sadly.

    • Nvm working now!

  • Just ordered and confirmation came through to email immediately.

Paid with credit card and received a cash advance notification from my, bank, did anyone else get charged as a cash advance?

    • Which bank are you with? I used Amex which seems to be safe

    • Did you use a CommBank credit card by chance? If so, this discussion in a recent Giftz deal indicated that CommBank treats transactions at this gift card portal as a cash advance.

      • I did indeed, thanks!

  • Do these work for the TooGoodToGo App ?

    • yes, paid via apple pay will work

      • Doesn't work via Android google pay unfortunately… but have not tried keying in card details as payment.

      • Can’t seem to get it working via Apple Pay with TGTG app. Payment decline. Same for cafe choice

  • Where is the restaurant list?

    • Any restaurants that accept visa payment, including both Australia and overseas

    • There is no definitive list available.

The way this gift card works is that it can only be redeemed at the merchant category codes (MCCs) mentioned in the deal description. These MCCs should cover the vast majority of restaurants and eateries in Australia, but it will not work at all restaurants and eateries, because:

      • There are some restaurants or eateries assigned a MCC not permitted this gift card. For example, I once went to a kebab shop that was assigned MCC 54991; another time, I went to an ice cream shop that was assigned MCC 54412 (even though Visa's guidelines suggest it should have been assigned MCC 5814); another time, I went to a restaurant within a football club that was assigned MCC 7997.3 Frankly, the way I use this gift card is to take a leap of faith and see where it works, as MCCs are a piece of information that you cannot realistically find out before attempting to make a purchase. GCDB is building a database of where Restaurant Choice gift cards have been reported to work, but this only reports restaurant/eatery chains.

      • It is at the discretion of the restaurant or eatery whether they accept this gift card. If you are paying in-person, as long as you ask to pay by card, you should be okay using this gift card. However, if you are paying online, you may run into issues, because this gift card is a prepaid Visa gift card, which can be rejected for security reasons if a merchant uses Visa Secure to screen Visa cards. One workaround is to pay via Apple Pay or Google Pay, but I find a small number of online checkouts (particularly ones powered by Foodhub) will still reject these gift cards when using a mobile wallet.

Blackhawk Network - the company operating this gift card product - cannot provide a restaurant list, because they only control the MCCs allowed on the gift card (i.e. they do not determine the MCC assigned to a merchant). Instead, the company that provides a restaurant or eatery its EFTPOS terminals and/or online payment solutions assign the MCC, and this MCC could change at any time without prior notice.

If you want to read a more detailed explanation, I suggest you look at this FAQ.

      1. Miscellaneous Food Stores – Convenience Stores and Specialty Markets

      2. Candy, Nut, and Confectionery Stores

      3. Membership Clubs (Sports, Recreation, Athletic), Country Clubs, and Private Golf Courses

      • How did you find out the MCC after trying to purchase? I've never seen it listed anywhere before.

        • If you have a TCN giftcard and an android phone, you can pay with a TCN giftcard then login to TCN app and check the MCC (even transaction didn’t go through it will still record the MCC)

Otherwise one of the old ways is to contact the bank, for example before NAB bought Citibank credit card, I can live chat with Citibank and check the MCC of specific transactions

  • Hi ,
We had to cancel your order ******* because it didn’t pass our screening process. Online security is important—like really important—so we take every measure we can to protect the people shopping with us.

We suggest you check out your billing and shipping info—there might be an oopsie in there that needs fixing!

Please note, no funds will be collected from the payment method used for this order*.
Any temporary authorization on your card shall be auto released in 72 hours.

  • So how often does EatClub allow you to swap out your primary card? A $500 prepaid Visa card would only last a few weeks if using it for both groceries and restaurants.

    • EatClub can hold multiple cards - the active one can be changed anytime

    • Get $1k value instead if you don't want to regularly swap… some users haven't been able to add new cards onto their EC account so YMMV.

  • Anyone tried to use this card for doordash/uber?

  • I seriously can't make the purchase. Have tried my PC, my phone, ANZ debit card, Macquarie debit card, my wife's ANZ debit card… Trying to purchase from them even made Macquarie lock my transaction account and I spent 40 minutes on hold to get it unlocked.

  • Missed this and the 10% at Coles. Hopefully the cafe choice deal is returning soon.
