      The ability to upload the GPX maps directly to your Garmin watch from within the app. From my experience that's the only feature I use to warrant me getting premium. Otherwise I would just keep the free version of I didn't have a Garmin

        Used offline maps when hiking in Japan when we had no phone service. Cheap investment considering the overall cost of the trip.

    I tolerate this site because I do not want to lose my hiking history. The trouble is, every time you use it, the method changes, which I feel is deliberate, meant to push you toward the more expensive option.I also find it strange that a site like this does not let you pay in advance.

      I have since found out I will only lose the downloaded and offline maps my hiking history will transfer to Alltrails free.

    I find https://www.trailhiking.com.au/ a decent free content website for trails, only need to register a free account.

    Australian based site with Australian trails only, unfortunately it doesn't have GPX map files for every trail listed, still improving but I've managed to add quite a few maps to my Garmin watch for trails we've done in WA.

    Your mileage may vary, but Police Rescue jokingly refer to it as "AllFails" since it accounts for a good portion of stranded hikers they have to locate.

    I tried the Alltrails+ membership and found that even then, it was trying to push me towards the more expensive peak membership, so i ended up getting annoyed and switching to GaiaGPS instead, which is all in all, a better product.
