Palworld recently came out of early access and looks like they're having a discount to celebrate. Good time to grab it at an ATL
If you own Enshrouded, you can buy a bundle for $27.50 roughly too here
Thanks @InsertCrow

Surely you are getting it on xbox as well?
It's an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
which is a better experience you think?
Mods. I need my fishing mod for the PC version.

Thanks. As an OG pokemon fan, been meaning to try Palworld out, and seems like a bargain at $30.
I hopped on for a few hours last night for the first time. There's more to it than I thought there would be, but it is good fun. You'll definitely get your moneys worth
They survived Nintendont's lawyers?
They had to remove the Pokeball mechanic, pokemon helping you fly and change some cosmetics.
Really? They still seem to have pokeballs - I haven't tried flying yet (new game) but riding ground mounts is still in the game?
It was specifically around the pal's emerging from the balls (now they kind of just spawn next to you when you summon them) - the actual 'catching' part wasn't an issue
@qaz182: What are you on about champ? I literally just explained the mechanic palworld had to remove due to nintendo's lawsuit.
Had never played before & started a co-op world yesterday with a friend who is more into cosy/casual games, and we both had a really good time for hours.
* No networking issues or gameplay bugs, 1 crash to desktop, not bad.
* Game does a good job in holding your hand and giving you small achievable incremental goals. Didn't feel the need to be constantly consulting a wiki. Difficulty curve is gentle.
* Enjoyed both mounted movement and climbing systems more than Breath of the Wild, exploration has been fun and rewarding.
* Appreciated seeing Palkemons doing jobs around the base, it's no Satisfactory but I like the sprinkling of automation.
* Auto sorting items all items from inventory into chests is such a quality of life boon, wish every game had this.
* Game it felt most similar to was Ark, but more approachable and less grindy.
* Missions have been a weak point - fetch quests running between two places, unengaging dialogue.
* Initial impression is that it feels like we're still just scratching the surface. The combination of Pals can change the gameplay loop in interesting ways, and the tech tree goes deep.
Recommend!
It's a lot of fun by itself, but co-op is so much better - glad you enjoyed.
I agree, I think the game needs some VA eventually to elaborate on the adventure and story.
Also some more mechanics when it comes to moveset - more status effects etc to make the combat a little bit more elaborate
Out of early access and lawsuits
I got it slightly cheaper because I had the valheim in the bundle. not sure if still active as it went away immediately.
For anybody whose just never been able to get past and enjoy Pokemon games (am now a middle age gamer now too) - does this do anything different that might attract players like me to the game? The pacing and grinding has always been the thing that puts me off.
It's not really a pokemon game, it's an open world game with pokemon mechanics, but real time fighting.
The story is weak/absent. It's more about building up strong pokemon (stats/evs/etc). The endgame content was a bit light from what I heard, but I haven't played it myself that far yet.
IF you play, I would strongly suggest setting egg hatch time to 0 which removed a LOT of the pointless waiting. Exp rate set to 1.5x still feels slow, but not painful - ymmv but.
Thanks for the suggestion. Will remember to do this if I decide to buy the game.
Palworld is more open world survival in the vein of Ark Survival Evolved, as opposed to Pokemon's linear JRPG gameplay. So there's not really any pacing other than what you make of it, the entire map is open from the onset.
It's excellent fun both in singleplayer and especially multiplayer co-op. You get base building and gunplay elements as well in addition to the whole monster trainer aspect you'd find with a creature collector.
I haven't managed to boot up 1.0 yet, but I heard they have light story now you can engage with.
Good to hear…as I do enjoy watching streamers play Ark. Too bad there's not demo of the game to try!
It adds an extra layer of slavery. In pokemon you can mainly only fight with your mons, or use them for select tasks. Palworld one ups this by letting you indenture your 'pals' and make them toil in the fields, mines, and construction sites for you. If you've got a kink for larping as a feudal lord and making adorable creatures into unpaid laborers, you might have a good time with it.
An amusing take you have on it but and get where you're coming from. Sounds like it has some elements to others games I'm familiar with - like Pikmin. Thanks for responding.
You can upgrade your work speed using stat points accumulated as you level up. You can also assign pals to work for you while you go out and explore the world and what not.
I was pretty annoyed by the work system too until I discovered the above.
Yeh I saw that but at the same time seeing the stat point menu turned me off the game even more. The UI is so so ugly. Just horrible from a game that has sold so many copies.
Some people shouldnt have opinions. Also you seem miserable to be around
There is a button in the settings to change from 'hold' to 'press' so you didn't have to hold it down.
Thanks! Picked it up with some mates and played a few hours. Very fun game, absolutely rubs Nintendo's nose in their laziness.
My kids and I love playing this together. We setup a family server and we all jump on whenever and continue the exploring and building.
wand (wemod) covers this game too for local play which can be great fun for ridiculous builds.
is this only fun if you play online?
Depends on what you like. Most games are better with others.
Got it for like $26 because of the added Humble Choice 20% discount :D
I missed this because I took long to decide. will have to wait for the next sale for it
This is a fantastic game. I already have a PC version, and now I've bought a PS5 version as well.
