[PS5, XSX] The Quarry $10.99 @ PlayStation Store & Xbox Store

420

Bargain if you're a fan of Supermassive Games. This one is more similar to Until Dawn than the Dark Pictures Anthology entries in my opinion. Goes on sale fairly often these days but appears to be lowest ever price according to whataryabuyin.

Same price on Xbox Store.

  • For double the money you can get it on PC alongside 14 other games right now: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/968252

  • No thanks, only buy physical on console.

    • You are getting down voted but you never know when Sony will just revoke your license and you can't play it anymore.

      • A lot of games can be taken down at any stage anyway if they rely on any sort of servers. It doesn't matter if you have a disc or not.

        • Which is a huge problem in itself, this can be played single player, but they take down the server and its worthless, for a single player capable game.

      • Or Xbox, they follow each other

        • So far Nintendo has been good with physical games (even game-key cards from third-party devs) so far, hope they continue after 2028.

  • Tried to play this on Xbox (Series X) when it was on Gamepass. It was capped to 30fps and had revolting motion blur that couldn't be turned off. PC can mod it out. I suspect consoles are stuck unless it got a ps5 pro pass that addressed it.

    • It seems to be capped at 30fps also even on the PS5. It must be how the game was designed. And i think it's stuck at the same even on the PS5 Pro. A hard framerate cap.

    • I liked the motion blur in it, and had no issue with the 30fps cap, because of the cinematic feel of the game (but I typically like motion blur in games if done well).

      • Per object motion blur can be great. In The Quarry it's heavy camera motion blur further compounded by the 30fps cap which it reaches with baked-in early FSR. It had us tapping out for nausea breaks so we just gave up and then played it on PC using Moonlight.

  • Story is terrible, acting is terrible.
Atmosphere is good, graphics are good.
I give it 2/5 - and I love horror. This was disappointing

    • Yeah it's a bad game but something about it is good also.

  • I enjoyed The Quarry, but nothing hit the heights of Until Dawn. At this price definitely worth it if you enjoy the game style and genre.

    • ps4 or ps5 until dawn?

      • PS4 - have not played the remake/remaster

  • Loved Until Dawn and some of the Dark Pictures anthology, but really didn't enjoy this one.

  • Cooll game/story. But like most story games- i get the same satisfaction by just watching a streamer i like play the game on a big tv on youtube lol.

I feel like i might do the same for GTA. I wonder if GTA know how much youtube and twitch/kick will impact their finances. Millions wont buy the game and simply watch someone play the same thing/ the same story, for free.
