      I'm thinking i'll get the 900gb. Question for people, what are peoples' use cases needing 5g? I used it for a while and ended up disabling it on my phone to save a little battery. I can still stream high bitrate content without buffering, and I don't need to urgently download/upload any big files. I know 5g is better for congestion.

        In my area in particular my 4g signal is functionally unusable for data, whereas 5g is fairly stable and consistent. I'm not in a particularly congested area either.

        Before the 3g shut off I'd have 5g disabled as my 3G coverage was excellent, but now I gotta take the battery hit from 5g for my phone to be usable outside of wifi range.

      I tried Kogan last year, had a lot of issues and poor reception. Wouldn't recommend it you can get closely priced Optus network deals.

          Same been using FELIX for 5 years at least and travel a lot in Australia, and no issues get 5G in places and even use it to stream

      You can probably save on NBN a couple months by using the 900gb on your phone as a hotspot. Instead of getting internet for a little bit.

    Ah, rats… I should have waited to before buying my recharge voucher… could have retained an extra month as the voucher needs to be used by end of July whilst my plan expires end of August.

      4G spectrum on vodafone has been refarmed to 5G. In certain areas, this leaves lte nearly unusable.

      Example on the sunshine coast:

      Vodafone lte has
      L2100 b1 20mhz
      L850 5mhz
      Whereas vodafone 5G has
      N700 15mhz
      N1800 15mhz
      N3500 40mhz.

      This will result in 5G users getting better edge coverage, and data. The 5mhz low band vodafone 4G carrier barely works. I personally wouldn't touch a 4G only plan, unless it was for a IoT device. This goes for any aussie network.

    I tried to buy the 900GB last month but it ended early, ended up getting 350GB for $179 but not activated yet.

    I wish i waited, i would've got the 900GB for $199

      they are pushing you onto more expensives plans for data you dont need

      eg. i found out for ordinary use i dont burn thru 100gb a year since i'm on work wifi etc etc.,

      but i just sold myself the 900gb plan because… i might need it

        The $149 is actually the same Small plan… they've just been changing the amount of data one gets at different times of the year.

        I too bought it for $149 last month thinking it wouldn't be on sale this month and with my $10 cashback from using my Amex credit card, that would help soften the 1 month I'd lose on my current plan (last month's renewal codes expire 31 July… my current plan expires 31 August).

        I only use ~40Gb give or take per year as I mostly use work and home wifi too.

          They (and every other carrier) did discontinue the $120 plan for this tier though, so there's a very deliberate effort to push people onto higher data plans.

            @Bonding0909: Technically they increased the price of the S plan from $120 to $179.90 RRP and increased included data at the same time. But I understand the point you're trying to make.

            As for everyone discontinuing $120-ish plans, depends on whether your definition of discontinue is to stop selling or providing… Amaysim simply grandfathered theirs. Both my parents are still on the old $120/yr plan with 60Gb data… set to autorenew so they never go off it (assuming Amaysim doesn't force them off the plan). Amaysim actually continued to offer the $120/yr plan for a while after they took it off the website. You'd need to call them to get onto the plan since it's on their systems… I should have moved over to them when I still had the chance.

    Been using this (900gb) on the AINavi X6 Android Headunit and no complaints here. Kayo, Plex, YouTube all work well on its available connectivity around the Melbourne Bay area. Haven’t traversed more rural inland to verify connectivity.

    Apparently the Optus plan will receive SMS when roaming activated but no need to sign up for a roaming pack.

      You can receive SMS overseas for free on Kogan too. Just have roaming enabled. I used it last year in Japan.

    Look great price. I hope you read this before you buy it. The worst signal I have ever had in 15 years in Oz.

    So bad I paid my wife's out early and moved her to Boost just shy of either 3 or 4 months.

    And to top it off their customer service is archaic. Slow. Unhelpful and hard to understand.

      yes, almost unusable in CBD and inner city. page doesn't load …refresh…. loading…… loading….. timeout. turnn off mobile, turn on mobile, page loading… half of the site pops up but no media, just Times Roman font text….timeout again. like. in the early 2000.

      If you buy it off Kogan.com, yes.

      If you try to renew direct on koganmobile.com.au, probably not.

      I've been purchasing Kogan Mobile plans using a combination of discounted Kogan.com credit and Kogan Black credit card points for years. Never used direct cash through a debit or credit card.

      Just make sure you check the expiry date on any Kogan.com credit you do purchase. Don't over purchase credit, otherwise that would mean you're essentially giving Ruslan Kogan interest free loans.

          You're supposed to redeem the gift cards as credit on your Kogan.com account first, then the option to pay with credit will show up.

    Really wish Kogan allowed us to stack up to 2yrs for their mobile service… really not user friendly that we need to wait till the day our current plan is going to expire to renew if we're to not lose any days.

    Honestly i find the Vodafail network faster than Telstra/boost in Perth

    However once you get outside the city…

    Ulimately just so i don't have to deal with Kogan i still stick with Boost.

        In Perth it's fine, if not more reliable than the oversubscribed Telstra network.

      No you’ll lose a few months as the voucher needs to be activated before 31/8 and it’ll be 365 days from that date. There will almost certainly be another BF deal so you’ll be able to renew it closer to the expiry.

      They use the new number and the last 4 digits of the SIM number to confirm you have the correct package and not a scammer trying to guess random numbers.

      Once that's done, you can choose at the bottom of that form whether to go with the new number listed in your email, or to port over an existing number from a different provider.

        Always check the fine print before buying Kogan Mobile plans.

        Look for "Voucher expires at [date]" and "Kogan Mobile’s [plan name] Offer is valid for new and existing Kogan Mobile customers."

        The expiry date will also be in the email with the voucher code.

    I don't recommend getting kogan esim. Go with physical sim.
    A pain if you fail to transfer esim or lose access to the sim via new phone wipe because the activation code is only able to use once.
    You'll need to go through an ID verification process.

    Ive had drop out issues with Kogan twice last week. It'll lose connection completely. It usually happens in the evenings. I'm in Sydney, any one else experienced this?
