  • Have had a for a few weeks. Makes a reasonable coffee, but I didn't like the black plastic (with a 3D maze pattern) part inside the group handle so I removed it. I didn't want the hot coffee shot pressure blasting through the single hole out of the basket, at the plastic like a water pistol, and then dribbling out. I'm trying to avoid consuming hot plastic. Now the coffee just blasts in a single stream into my mug and creates a really frothy shot. Crema gurus would faint.

    • What would the maximum cup height be?

Large takeaway coffee size 500 ml ±? Or too low to fit?

    • What's the point of removing it. the rest of the internals including group head in all these sunbeam/brevilles are plastic.

    • Jump on aliexpress and get yourself a stainless steel portafilter and basket … very good upgrade for these things.

  • Is this just a rebranded delonghi dedica? It looks incredibly similar

    • Looks can be deceiving. This one has a lot of plastic as opposed to the delonghi which is mostly stainless steel.

  • I have a heap of Nespresso pods to use and want something like this compact and steam wand but for pods, has anyone seen one for cheap cause I can only find them for like $400+. But also, could I just get this then put the contents of a pod in the coffee part?

    • You don't buy an espresso machine to put pods in it. Just cut your losses.

    • They don't have op shops or Gumtree where you live?

    • Presumably you still have a pod machine at the moment right?
Get this or something like it anyway for steaming your milk until you run down your remaining pods then start using the espresso part.

I used to have my own little spare espresso machine at work but only used it for frothing the milk; got the coffee shots from the automatic machine they had.

      • Nah I don't have any machine, in true OzB fashion I bought a heap of pods without a machine lol. But good advice though still :)

    • could I just get this then put the contents of a pod in the coffee part?

Technically yes, but you're probably going to be using like 2-3 pods per coffee because I think pods have like 5-10g and the portafilters usually fit 15-20g. Not sure this one specifically though, I assume it comes with 1 and 2 shot pressurised baskets like most of these machines. the 1 shot will probably be close, but also make pretty bad coffee.

      • Ah true, I see, yeah I don't drink coffee so it's just for guests but I'm sick of serving up instant but also dont want to be a full on barista, so just figured a pod machine was a good in between. Appreciate the help mate!

        • Get a pod machine and one of those freestanding milk warmers/frothers not using steam.

Still nice and runs rings around instant coffee with a dash of cold milk lol.
