  • I was literally just looking at these, was going to buy one from AliExpress, for a bit more, so winning for us.

Next to find a JoyCon-Pro for a better coktroller in portable mode.

    • Yeah same for looking for a pro joycon alternative, third party (like mobapad) are getting closer but not quite there yet.

    • The best Pro JoyCon 3rd party I have come across is the Gamesir G8+.

      https://gamesir.com/products/g8plus-bluetooth-mobile-control…

It's a streachable XBOX Controller with Hall Effect sticks and is primary built for mobile. But it works and it works well! The turbo button function helps alot especially with Donkey Kong Bonanaza.

Only downsides is that it's Bluetooth, and requires another cable for charging. Also. You'll need to install an App or Appx for advanced config like Raw Input, Calibration, etc. Otherwise. I can't fault it.

Build Quality is Excellent, feels and works better than OG XBOX controllers. Has all that Gyro Crap as well.

      Highly Recommend.

      • Can also confirm my happiness with Gamesir G8+.
Originally bought it for playing games on my Samsung Galaxy.
When I realised it worked for my Switch 2, I have not used any other controller since.
Had it for almost a year now.

    • I use the Hori gullwing controllers

    • I recently got on of these JC400 units.

      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005011622953090.html

Only played a couple of hours so far but initial impressions are great

  • I bought the original switch one version and don't have any complaints. From what I remember their head office was based in Rydalmere in Sydney.

  • Great timing. Needed a portable dock for my Switch 2

    • This isn't AliExpress?

  • Whatever happened with bricking?

I've been using the official dock so never followed the story. But Nintendo really screwed up by not making switch 1 compatible with switch 2. So I'm considering buying this jumpgate.

    • Review Video: What Causes Bricking?
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6INIHrZBGg

This video (by the company) gave me the confidence to buy one for my Switch 1. It was good enough for me to buy a 2nd one shortly after.

  • I bought mine from the official Ali Express store a couple months back, no issues in Switch 2. Not tried it on switch but see no reason it wouldn't work.

  • I have this and use it with my switch 2 and steam deck and love it

  • Anybody know if it's only safe to use as a switch 1/2 dock when used with an official power supply or does it regulate power so amy other power supply can be also safely used?

    • I've used it with the official charger, a ugreen 65w charger, and another 100w gan charger I have. All of them have worked fine. I can't comment to whether this was safe or not.

  • Assuming this works with switch 1 too and prob just a firmware update for switch2? I have the same one, or rebrand older one, Can't remember.

But i've used just those $4 dongles from aliexpress for my laptop and also works on switch 1 and when plugged in. Switch1 goes into docked mode with full power draw and performance lol. Pretty awesome. Can link it here if anyone is interested in that, though not a stand type dock like this

    • they have released a switch 1 dock and switch 2 dock, the difference is the stand dimensions are slightly different but the electronics all work.

  • Can I just use a laptop dock?

    • i have on my Switch1 no issues

      • Perfect, if only it forced 4K output via the docks converter lol

        • haha image will probably be very distorted or pixelated though sw1 games aren't known for graphics anyway lol

          • @FrozenFred: And on switch1 ..very laggy as is haha

            • @donman92: I actually stopped playing switch1 for months because of how bad octopath traveler 0 was on it. the other ones were acceptable. then i saw a video about overclocking, undervolting and FPS unlocking (need a hackable switch). So i gave it a go now everything is buttery smooth 60fps so i have started to breath it new life, and hence used various docks already on my desk and all works great lol. Suggest you do the same if possible :)

              • @FrozenFred: I wish but I simply cannot justify paying any more than $400 for a PC upgrade and 4k output. Also, having to pay for a "switch 2 version" of s switch 1 game is insane too.

                • @donman92: yeah! the fact that these games can run on switch1 at 60fps already but Nintendo locked us to 30fps and unstable 30 too is absurd. I'm waiting for switch 2 OLED then may consider it; once they have more games of interest too.

Also you don't need to upgrade PC, i meant if you have a hackable switch1 or fb marketplace a older one that can and you can, do it that way :). they go for really cheap these days

  • Using the discount code was so finicky. Finally got it working. Cheers OP was looking for a dock recently. It's insane Nintendo charge $160AUD for a second official dock.

    • How did you get the code working? I keep getting a "discount code isn't available to you right now" error

      • Try this code instead: DRIPMEDIA

      • Ended up using a different email, seems like the codes expire quickly.

  • Can you plug a ps5 into this too?

  • Newbie here just got a switch 2 console, what's the use case of this over the official dock? Mostly playing switch 1 games like Mario kart and efootball on the TV using third party controllers and everything works fine. Will I still need this?

    • good question! My official one still works but i just bought one of these (sw1 version years ago) just as a portable multipurpose case one (as can use for laptops and phones etc too). Though i found out later any docks work on switch (switch 1 at least), so it's not as required any more but it's a nice to have, or replacement for those not wanting big money for offical nintendo one i think

    • For me personally, I'll be going away for some months but would likely find the official dock too cumbersome with luggage (especially on flight). For most cases the normal dock would do, otherwise could use it on another tv/monitor as alternative.

  • Question:

Didn't Nintendo shaft 3rd Party Docks?

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

But didn't Nintendo release a firmware update that renders these docks useless?

    • From google: Nintendo system updates (such as historical v5.0.0 and more recently v21.0.0) have repeatedly altered USB-C handshake protocols, encryption, and video-out authentication. Nintendo stated it does not intentionally block legal accessories, but reverse-engineered third-party docks often fail these stricter verification checks and stop working.

If you're concerned that a future update could render the dock unusable, consider buying the Pro version, which supports firmware updates. The base version does not.

      • Where did you see that the pro version supports firmware updates while the standard doesn't?

The only differences I could see on their webpage was:
        Standard - 1x USB 2.0 Port
        Pro - 3x USB 3.0 Ports

Edit: Upon googling. It appears you are correct. Might cancel my order and get the pro instead.

        • After doing some more research, I believe I was wrong.
This page suggests that the "lite" version of the core drive (which is included with the base dock package) can be updated.

  • Thanks OP ordered one. This is great for me where in the household theres both a Switch OLED or a Switch 2 in use, so makes it simpler if thw dock supports both 👌

  • I use a Cabletime"4K60Hz USB C to HDMI Adapter Cable" ( https://cabletimetech.com/en-au/products/4k60hz-usb-c-to-hdm… ) to use my Switch 2 on any monitor/TV as I prefer something easy to bring when travelling overseas so the kids can play on the hotel TV. You do need to bring a USB-C Charger to power it though (either the official NS2 power adapter or a UGreen 65W USB-C charger). The NS2 uses only max 25W in docked mode in reality though.

  • Just to let people know, this is the standard price. Not really a deal in that sense, but this price is still insane value for what you get.
I ordered 2 months ago for this exact price for my Ayn thor. Sadly it barely didn't fit.
