I tried, but this is really slow to progress. And too many ways to play. You have to keep looking for guides to not miss important things in an area or things that will affect the whole game. Some puzzles are just difficult and not interesting, once again, you gotta watch walk throughs on YouTube to complete some puzzles.
If You have time to do a lot of research, this may be for you. But if you are busy or just short on patience, skip it.
It is okay to play the way you would like without fear of missing bits. I know it is now how some brains are tuned, but I assure you - you can just ignore whole sections of a game, or a book, or a movie and still have a good time. If you are concerned about internal continuity, don't be - you won't miss any 'story beats' regardless of how you play this game. You might get some different content to other people because of the choices you make, but that's okay, too.
That's actually the best way to design a game when different people get different stories of their walkthrough. Heavy Rain, for example, two people can easily get way too different experiences and that's awesome.
It is okay to play the way you would like without fear of missing bits.
But the way he would like to play, is to not miss any bits.
That's kind of the beauty of it though, more replay value.

I did infer that, but I wanted to offer a contrast in my comment. I used to read pick-a-path books as a kid and really wanted to get the 'good' ending. I would back track and make different choices if I didn't get the result I wanted. I understand that feeling and appreciate that it is real and motivates people to engage with media in certain ways to maximse their happiness.
More recently I have come to understand what those hippies used to say: enjoy the moment/be in the moment. They are not saying future happiness has no value, they are saying if you let the idea of maximising your (perceived) future happiness take away (actual) happiness now, you are not only robbing yourself of another, equally valid happiness, you are trading a real, present joy for an imagined, perfect one that may never arrive.
It’s okay to care about getting the 'good' path. That desire comes from a good place. At the same time, it’s also okay to let yourself relax into the game as it is, trusting that the fun you’re having right now is already enough. You don’t have to choose between 'perfect play' and 'no care at all'. There’s a middle ground where you can glance at a guide when it truly matters, and otherwise allow yourself to wander, miss a few things, and still feel content.
You can't play BG without missing bits. That's the whole game. If you do X, then you will miss Y. If you do Y, you will miss X and Z. It's the nature of the game.

I don't think either of us were disrespectful. I used to want to see all the content. I was getting a lot of happiness from that. Then I changed and got a similar amount of happiness from not seeing everything. I wanted to share that in case someone/you hadn't tried that/didn't know it could be down that way. Sorry for crossed wires.
I didn't see it as a shot at intelligence, not wanting to miss content has nothing to do with how smart you are, he was just saying some people are able to enjoy playing while missing some things and others are not. It was just a preference thing.
Kind of how you could say some people are able to have a messy room for example and other people it would just bother them too much until they fixed it. Peoples brains are just wired different.
I mean, thats for any serious (C)RPG really, not really anything new there. This ain't Zelda.
Played it through a couple of times as the decisions you make can have big impacts and totally change the game (unlike Bethesda games!). Highly recommend it.
