Hey Oz Bargain Community,
Small one of my mini novel ramblings below, so if you're flat chat, please feel welcome to skip to the good stuff below in bold :)
I woke up just before 3:30am this morning and have been thoroughly enjoying a few coffees (first was my vibrant, exciting Ethiopia Single Origin, then my comforting hug in a mug Brazil Single Origin and my third cup was an appreciative treat being my Thank You Blend) gathering my thoughts, thinking about today, tomorrow and yesterday since then in my personal rainforest AKA my small balcony which has 4.5 ferns.
Of recent I find myself reliving a similar feeling each day. I start the day off excited for the thrills and challenges the lie ahead for me that day. However, by the end of the day I'm left feeling a somewhat disappointed in what I've achieved that day and a little sad the day has flown by so quickly. I regularly feel like I'm not getting as much achieved as I should each day. Perhaps it's a natural feeling to want to achieve more than what's currently achievable in a day, but it is a cycle I've been actively trying to rectify so I feel as great and energised at the end of the day as at the beginning. I have tried waking up earlier and going to sleep earlier in order to achieve two things. First, extend the positive waking hours and reduce the not as positive waking hours. Second, to try and extend what I am able to achieve each day. This has helped, but more like a band aid rather than a preventative remedy, so I need to find a better solution. One thing I've been testing a bit which has thus far had the most success, is to not focus too much on yesterday or tomorrow, instead just have as much focus as possible on enjoying the current, be it good, bad or indifferent I have been trying to actively embrace and focus on it.
Another thing I've noticed is more and more the big issues I embrace (still not fun, but there's a clear feeling of being empowered to focus on shifting to part of the positive solution rather than focusing on the negative aspect/s problem) as a challenge to find a solution, but on the days where there are dozens of small unexpected (above the normal level of issues) challenges I do find it a bit harder to focus on the productive positives. Perhaps an analogy is getting a hard, unexpected punch in the face, which means in anticipation of the next one you can either be more agile/duck, take the next one head on based on experience or a combo of both where you get a knock but are not knocked out; it's a simple cause and effect one and done situation. Whereas when lots of unexpected little things happen it can be a bit like the lights are off and you've been lightly pinched in a frustrating manner all over your body, each pinch feels slightly different, and each in itself is not harmful so it's not something in the moment worth putting energy in to avoid or counter the next pinch, it's just the unexpected natural of so many hitting so many different areas, so once it becomes a headache (literally) it's can be a bit overwhelming to figure out how 1 pinch is now 75. None are related to one another and how to stop the next 75 coming out of nowhere. Anyway I'm still working on the pinch punch thing as the pinches are a tad hard to predict and the first few dozen in a day aren't a big deal to resolve without getting a headache, if the next few dozen which build the be a tad draining at times. On the other hand the punches (although far from fun and not something I look forward to) I can take in my stride with a "if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger notion" so I'm going to try and view each pinch as a metaphorical punch, not sure if it'll work, but here's hoping.
The reason for my ramble above is two-fold. First, please note if it ever feels like there's a lack of innovation or experience improvement at Lime Blue Coffee, please note we are not planning on slowing down or getting complacent are are working on lots of exciting things to bring to you this year, it's just a case of hours in the day to build these innovations, so please watch this space and thank you so much for your patience and continued support while we work on these exciting things for you. Second, I can't think of an example where I've acted in a lesser level than what's worthy of creating the true Lime Blue Coffee experience you have come to expect, as I usually make sure after 75 pinches give of take in a day haha I go for a brief walk to clear my head before interacting with any customers or my team. However, of course I far from perfect so the thought has occurred to me that without knowing I could have not done justice (directly or indirectly) to provide a worthy Lime Blue Coffee experience on occasion, so if that's ever been the case of recent, my sincere apologies.
Of course on the days I spend time with special people my end of day vibe is generally happy even when at times during the day things have been tough and when I take the time to analyse life in general Australia is pretty wonderful, turn the tap on there's water, you can see a rainforest and a beach in the space of an hour…there's so many positives here!
None of the above is meant to be a complaint, as running a business is the path I've voluntarily chosen, so it all comes with the territory and I still love what I'm doing and it does have a lot of positive/exciting moments too. This is just a window into my mind, so you know I'm far from perfect, but I have not and will not take you for granted, exciting things are on the horizon for you and I'm working hard to build the in a high quality, yet efficient manner.
